Simon’s Cat Off to the Vet and other Cat-astrophes Review and Giveaway
I was sitting in the waiting room at the orthopedist when I started reading this book. Before I knew it I was laughing out loud. I’m glad I didn’t start snorting. I guess, technically, I wasn’t reading but looking at British cartoonist, Simon Tofield’s, intricate line drawings featuring his cat and kitten and their crazy adventures.
Going to the vet occupies 49 pages (many in full, vibrant color) in the center of the 240 pages of hilarity. You will laugh until you cry or maybe wet yourself. It is an inspired exaggeration of what most of us face when trying to stuff kitty into a PTU for a visit to the vet. After kitty’s arrival at the vet all hell breaks out!
To visit everybody’s favorite naughty cat avoiding the PTU, you can catch him on his own YouTube channel in a new video, Box Clever, by clicking here. Box Clever was created as a teaser to the upcoming 11-minute, full-color video of Off to the Vet. The video, financed by an IndieGoGo campaign, will be available to funders first. It will appear on Simon’s Cat YouTube channel sometime in 2016.
The vet visit is only part of the hi-jinx in this new book. You’ll laugh at kitty as he deals with the cone of shame and food thievery by the kitten. Several of the vignettes include antics involving the grumpy neighbor and many include various dogs and birds. Those and all the other line-drawn comics are totally relatable if your home is graced by the presence of a cat.
Anyone who has ever lived with a cat (naughty or otherwise) as well as fans of Tofield’s other books or his nearly 40, animated, YouTube videos will fall in love with this book and want to look at it again and again.
And one lucky reader (worldwide) will win a copy of Simon’s Cat Off to the Vet. For an opportunity to win, leave a comment on this post prior to Friday, October 23, at 5 p.m. EDT. The winner will be selected using Random.org.
In addition to Simon’s Cat YouTube Channel, you can find kitty on his own blog and Facebook page.

This looks like a great book!
I absolutely love the Simon’s Cat cartoons. I remember the first video I saw (the cat trying to wake him because he was hungry). It really struck a chord with me because I was fairly new to cats and I had one that behaved pretty much the same way! 🙂
Love Simon the cat!
We love Simon and his cats. Have at least one of his books and would like to get a few more of them. Thanks for the giveaway.

Hemingway does great when going to the doctor’s house. Shakespeare is the real terror and I’m sure he fits the descriptions and drawings in this book! I would love to win one!
Our mommy always gets the giggles from Simon’s Cat! She had a tough end to the tax season this week so we’re crossing our paws that we win since we know this will cheer her up!
Simon’s cat always gives us the giggles!
We absolutely love Simon and his antics in this house. It would be an honor to read this book and/or be given a copy from your generous giveaway. The artist certainly knows his cats and really knows how to capture Simon in cartoon form. He is an outstanding cartoonist! Thanks for giving us this opportunity.
I’ve never seen simons cat stuff will definitely have to check it out. Vet experiences with frankie are not fun. I need to laugh about a vet visit thanks for sharing zen hugs and purrs

Oh, we’d love this! My human saw Simon Tofield do a talk a couple of years ago, and he seemed like a really nice guy!
Simon’s Cat is hilarious! I haven’t seen the book yet but I love the YouTube stories! And anyone who has had a kitten will attest, it’s not far off of our own!
We love Simon’s Cat ! Can’t wait to read the new book ! Purrs
Love it. Reminds me of Garfield. The first cat we ever had was a rescued stray – a lovely gentle boy. We didn’t have a cat crate so the first time we had to take him to the vet we put him in a beer crate with an oven tray over the top… Did you know that a full grown cat can squeeze between the slats of a wooden beer crate!
Love Simon’s Cat! He really nails cat behavior. Can’t wait to read the book since I really enjoy the YouTube shorts.
I love Simon and his cats. They are always entertaining and fun. Thanks for this wonderful review.
I am having some serious computer issues. I hope to get them resolved soon. I hope you are good.
