Thoroughly Poetic Thursday
Poetry Day with our pals, Teddy and Angel Sammy, is one of our favorite days on the blog. Mom loves to write poetry. Though all her poems aren’t masterpieces, she still enjoys engaging her imagination.
Each week, Angel Sammy writes an exceptional poem and transmits it to Teddy from the Rainbow Bridge. We suggest you click on the badge at the left to pop over to Two Spoiled Cats and read it. While there, check the Comments for links to other poems.
This week’s inspiration photo, with a couple of senior citizens, made Mom think of herself and Dad and how they are aging. The poem refers just as much to them, in the abstract, as it does to these older gentlemen.
Friends
A quiet day in the park
Chess with a best friend
No need for chit chat
Companionship and activity
A beautiful, sunny day
Just what they need
Research has shown…engaging
Their brains, being social
Will keep seniors healthy, vibrant
It doesn’t matter who wins
These friends will be back
Again…tomorrow!

Thankful Thursday
Each Thursday also is when we give thanks for the things in our lives for which we are grateful.
We kitties are always thankful for a great home with good noms and treats, a catio and two humans who are very indulgent and loving.
Mom, Dad and Sawyer are thankful for eight days without a seizure for Sawyer, after he had two in one day with only a five-day break from the previous one. Mom is really thankful that our great vet found a new pharmacy for Mom and Dad to get Sawyer’s phenobarbital at a savings of $34 per bottle. She’s hoping Sawyer will like the tuna flavor she selected for him. We are hoping she spends that savings on extra treats. That really would be something for which to be thankful.
Mom won another Tuesday Teaser badge from Two Spoiled Cats this week by correctly identifying the five cities pictured. She wasn’t first, but right is right.
Thankful Thursday is a blog hop hosted by Brian. To join the hop post for what you are thankful on your blog, then click on the badge below to hop over to Brian’s and enter you link.
Finally, we are thankful you joined us today.

Great poem. I am sorry Sawyer’s seizures are so frequent again. 🙁 XO
We are super thankful for Sawyer being seizure free for so long Yay. Sounds like he will have a nice treat when he takes his meds too. Dad puts Buddy and Rumpy’s meds in Whisker Lickins. We get some too without meds Hee Hee. Love that poem and congrats on your guesses on the Teaser!
What a sweet poem! It fits that picture purrrfectly! We’re thankful that Sawyer has been seizure free lately. Tuna flavor sounds like a winner!
Chess has always been beyond my capabilities, but I admire those who can play. There is a terrific movie: Searching for Bobby Fischer (1993), which I’ve always admired, about a youngster who is a great player, and how his family reacts to his achievements.
That was a darn cute poem! We are so thankful anytime dear Sawyer doesn’t have a seizure and the longer in between the better! Thanks for joining the Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!
I always enjoy your poems. You do them so very well.
I’m thankful for Sawyer being seizure free for 8 days. I pray for Sawyer every day.
Have a fabulous Thankful Thursday. Scritches to all the kitties and a big hug to the mom. ♥
We like your poem! Of course, we are ALWAYS purring and praying for Sawyer. We’re glad you can save some green papers and we hope he likes his new meds. Mom just ordered another jar of Cat Mix.
ConCats on your Teaser win!
The Florida Furkids with smoochies and love to Mau from Allie and paw pats and headbonks to Sawyer from Noelle
What a super poem this week…….these two guys are inspiring – chess takes the ability to make connections and keeping our brains tuned up to be able to do that is key in aging gracefully. We are happy that you have found a pharmacy to do Sawyer’s meds more economically – meds are expensive and if he likes that tuna flavor then maybe the little guy will ENJOY taking what he needs for his seizure issues – we hope so! Thanks for being our poetry partner……….
Love, Teddy and Mom
I purr for Sawyer all the time.
Your poem is very poignant!
Petcretary works in a nursing home, and the residents who engage in the most activities and have social contact with the outside world with family/friends are those who thrive there and do well.
Which is one of the reasons she keeps working…she at just about the age to retire will not so she can stay active and fit…same with pawppy…though he will be mandated to stop work when he turns 70. Sheesh, as if he can’t be productive then anymore.
Concats on getting the cities all correct.
And hooray for little Sawyer having some good seizure free days. Cool that you can get the meds discounted…yup, for treats indeed! MOL!
