We can’t believe it, but Mom has already registered to attend next year’s BlogPaws Conference in Nashville, Tennessee. We pretty much thought this was a one time thing…meet a few kitties, woofies, ferrets, etc., say “hi” to the moms of some of our furiends and then come home and remain with us forever and ever. She says, however, that this was one of the best experiences she’s ever had (discounting being stung on the ankle by a scorpion the final afternoon of the Conference), and she’s not missing the opportunity to attend again when it will be so much closer to home.
She told us that she has found her “family” within the cat-blogger community. We didn’t like that ’cause we thought we’re her family. She explained that we are her “furmily,” which takes precedence. Maybe a few treats would heal our hurt feelings.
But back to the scorpion: The hotel had to get paramedics to Mom’s room on Sunday morning. By that time her ankle had become a cankle and she couldn’t walk. She’d been crawling to the bathroom on her hands and knees. The paramedics had an ambulance and would have taken her to the hospital, but she opted to stay at the hotel using ice packs and taking benadryl. She wasn’t scheduled to leave Las Vegas until 11:30 p.m.
She got home at about 11 a.m. Monday morning and has spent most of her time sleeping, which is why we are writing this post. Calista Jo, Mauricio, Lily Olivia and Misty May caved pretty quickly after she got home and slept glued to her last night. Calista Jo is now snuggled up with her. The remainder of us are not easily won over, especially as we have yet to see even one item of swag.
She asked us to be patient, and we don’t see any alternative. So instead of showing you photos of us playing with our new goodies, we’re sharing a bunch of “grip and grin” photos.
Here’s our mom with some of yours: Mom Karyn (Clooney’s Num Num Fund), Mom Sophie (Critters in the Cottage), our mom, Mom Sue (The Island Cats) and Mom Paula (Twinkletoe Tails).

One of the most exciting times for Mom was sitting next to Glogirly (Debbie Glovatsky) at the Nose-to-Nose Awards Dinner and getting to know her a little. According to Mom, she is beautiful, friendly, warm and humble. She won the Best Cat Blog award and Best Blog Design award.
Mom also had a moment in the spotlight when she accepted the Best Other Pet Blog award for our furiend, Speedy the Cheeky House Bunny and Mom Rachel.
Mom has additional photos which she’ll share later in the week. Unfortunately she doesn’t have any from the Katnip Lounge catio as she was unable to make her scheduled visit there on Sunday. She’s pretty upset about that, but from our perspective, we think that was a good thing. She didn’t arrive home smelling like a myriad of other kitties, which she would have.
More later…

OMC! No wonder your mum’s ankle was hurting! We are glad she is home with you recuperating now! It was a true joy to meet her at BlogPaws and Teri registered for 2015 already, too! See you there!
Love the photos! Everyone looks so happy. 🙂
So sorry to hear about the scorpion bite! I hope you are better soon! I’m always interested in hearing about BlogPaws, so thanks for posting even though you must be feeling terrible!
We just got back online today and just saw this news. We are so sorry to hear about how bad that scorpion sting was and what pain your Mom was in, how horrible! My Human saw how swollen your Mom’s ankle was on Saturday night but didn’t think to realize that it could have been a sting from an insect. Our purrs and good thoughts to your Mom, we hope that she is now starting to feel better and that the pain has decreased. We just know that you all will take such good care of her. I want to tell you all that my Human just adores your Mom and that your Mom really made BlogPaws special for her!
xoxo

glad your mom made it back home safe. sounds like she had a good time except for that biting incident….how scary!
Oh My Cat! A scorpion?? Yikes…..so happy your Mom was alright as that’s a most dangerous thing to happen. In spite of that BAD thing, it appears from the photos the rest of the trip was a GOOD thing! Lots of happy faces and kitty ears and fun and if she’s already signed up for next year, you’d better start planning a pawty while she’s gone!
Hugs, Sammy
Oh no poor mum and we hope she is better today. Take it easy mum and no worries we see you when we see you. Glad that despite the ickies mum had a great meet and greet at the conference and will be attending next year. Have a wonderful Wednesday.
Best wishes Molly
It was wonderful meeting your Mom. She was just lovely. We didn’t know she got stung, though. We hope her ankle is feeling better now.
XOXO
How did your human manage to find a scorpion?! How awful that she got stung! My human blissfully put her boots on every day, never checking to see if there were any visitors inside, and now she is creeped out! I hope you are better, or will be very soon! Sending purrs.
BTW, my human’s already registered for BlogPaws Nashville too, and she is looking forward to seeing your human (and NO scorpions) then!
Oh no!!! So sorry to hear about your scorpion sting. That’s terrible. I’m glad the rest of your trip went well though. Your pictures are so neat – it’s nice to be able to put faces to names! I have registered for BlogPaws next year too! I was so excited when I heard it’s going to be in Nashville – just a 5 hour drive, and my husband will come as well to check out the music scene there while I go to the convention. Sophie will be coming as well 🙂 Too perfect! I’m sure the rest of your kitties will come around soon. They can’t go TOO long without mommy love. Can’t wait to hear more about the trip! –Emily
Sampson sends kitty-kisses and nose rubs to Astrid
We’re so glad to hear that you got home safely. The head peep heard about the scorpion and was concerned about you making your flight! She says to tell you that she really enjoyed meeting you.
So sorry your mom got stung. It looks like she had a wonderful time though! Glad she is home with you all.
Take care
Marty
Our mom has been worrying about yours so she is glad to see this post. She wasn’t sure if she should call or not, not knowing how sick you were and if you were up for it. But where in the hotel do you think you were stung? OMC! Of course, the Catio cats would have known what do with that scorpion! Give the mom a buzz when you feel up to it. Sending healing purrs your way!
Yikes on the scorpion! I am so glad you had a grand time. Dad and Flat Brian sat this one out but have the ticket for next year too.
Sorry about the scorpion but it sounds like your Mom had a great time. TW has her ticket for next year too. She’s been to 2 and has always had a great time. The first year, Plush Me was treated like a celebrity! TW met all her Twitter friends that year. Last year, she met some bloggers.
OMG A SCORPION?????????? How in the world did that happen? Thank goodness you are ok!! It was great meeting you and I just LOVE your photos!
OMC! Your mom got stung by a scorpion?? See…if you guys were there, that never woulda happened. You woulda scared that scorpion away. 😉 We sure hope your mom’s ankle feels better soon.
The mom said that she really enjoyed meeting your mom. Your mom is right…the cat bloggers is one big family.
Glad you had fun at BlogPaws. I’m sorry I missed it.
Wow this sounds like Mom really had one heck of a time. Dad would really like to go some year, but, maybe we should tell him to stay home if he may rub up some other kitties.
We saw the visit to the Katnip Lounge which would have left some stinky on Mom Fur Sure.
Purrs fur Moms Cankle

We heard about the scorpion – holy CAT, where do you think it bit you? When our mom was a kid, she recalls pulling her sister’s sheets out of the dryer and finding the carcass of one. It stuck with her so that to this day, she “flips” the sheets every time she gets into bed – especially on trips!
It was so very, very nice to meet you and to spend time with you. And we’re so very sorry that final day was so painful. Calista Jo has nurse duty?
And just to clarify, we meant where as in “where on the resort grounds” – because our mom SAW your ankle. *shudders*
Hope the mom-person feels better soon!
Looks like your momma had fun!
WOWEE! The Staff is so envious, but also very glad your mom had a great time. We love the photos and seeing who folk are. That’s cool 🙂 Really sorry about the scorpion, though!!!! We hope her cankle becomes an ankle again soon!
PeeEss I wonder if I should start worrying about The Staff taking an overseas trip????
PeePeeEss I need to see the swag! 😉
OOh my that will be a trip your Mom will never forget! Thanks for sharing these wonderful photos! It’s great to see the eyes behind the lens of the camera. Hope Mom is doing well now.
So exciting! Sorry about the scorpion though… was it in her room? Yikes! My mom has them around her house, but so glad that we do not have them here. I don’t think I’d be able to sleep at night if they were…
