Thoroughly Poetic Thursday
We have gone off script again today with our poem, and hope our Thoroughly Poetic Thursday hosts, Teddy and Angel Sammy (Two Spoiled Cats), will forgive us. Instead of writing a poem based on this week’s inspiration photo, Mom wrote a poem and created a meme to enter in The Sixth Annual Contest of Whatever! held by the Evil Squirrel’s Nest. If not for Teddy and Sammy’s mom, Pam, we wouldn’t even know about the contest, so we’re pretty certain they will forgive us.
A Squirrel Walks Into A Barre…
Bar…stupid, not barre.
I ain’t no prissy ballerina,
and this ain’t no juice bar.
I want the hard stuff:
Singapore Sunflower Sling
and make it a double.
That dang cat, Sawyer, has
been pestering me all day
with his, “Hey, give those
birdies a chance” and “get
your fluffy butt off the feeder.”
He’s just jealous ’cause he
doesn’t even have a tail.
So, what’s up with that?
And who the heck does he think
he is—the squirrel police?
He needs to mind his
manners or he’s gonna
find himself on the bizness
end of these teeths. I
ain’t gonna be intimidated
by no pussy in need of
a catitude adjustment.
I am the ruler of the yard,
the master of the bird feeder.
When that whippersnapper
learns to walk the high wires
or build multi-level tree forts,
I might give him the time of day:
Yeah, as in…”Beat in Buster…
It’s squirrel drinking time!”
I plan to taunt that little bugger
until one of us croaks.
No cat is going to push me around!
Now, where the heck is that bartender?

Thankful Thursday
Each Thursday, we also join the Thankful Thursday blog hop hosted by Brian.
Mom and Dad are super thankful that progress finally is being made on the addition with electrical, HVAC and plumbing being in process. The roof and windows should be installed next week, and Mom and Dad have selected bathroom fixtures, cabinets and countertops.
We like to give a Sawyer update on Thursdays, but we have nothing good to report this week. Unfortunately, he’s had two grand mal seizures this past week, just five days apart, and another visit to the Emergency Vet. Sawyer has asked to give you an update tomorrow. Though our little brofur hasn’t had a good week, we are thankful that he lives with us, and Mom and Dad are able to give him the love and care he needs.

Fun little story/poem!
We don’t have any squirrels around where we live, but if we did all the outside cats would sure be in competition with them for who would be ruler of the yard. 🙂
Poor Sawyer. We continue to purr for him.
Your poem was just wonderful. It was really fun to read. We are glad that everything is coming along for mom and dad. We wish Sawyer to feel better and hope to hear a good update soon. Thanks for the share. Have a great day.

First off I’m sorry you’re not had a good week, Sawyer. Not good and your remain in my purrayers. Second, I’ll be right over to help you teach that evil squirrel a lesson. I’d do most anything for you.
Have a purrfect day, Sawyer. My best to your peeps. ♥
Your poem is delightful. I like the idea of squirrel police. Someone needs to keep ’em in line!
We are sorry to hear about Sawyer, and our purrayers and POTP continue. You are thankful to be able to take care of him, and we know he is thankful to have you to take care of him !

Sawyer keep watching and your day will come. We have/had a burglar in our house and Dad knew too as he saw his tiny terds in the corner. We would watch under the credenza and other furniture and Dad knew we were waiting. That fellow was smart. He never exposed himself. But one day, Zam! We left him fur Dad and will share in the glory instead of saying who did the deed. Yes it is just a matter of time.
PS no tail is no problem in hunting and stuff. Rumpy

Aww, Sawyer! Could watching the squirrels be too hard on your system, poor kitty. They can be VERY nasty, with all that darting around and flipping tails and stuffs.
That was excellent. I love how different yours was from Pam’s story- I think you should both win the Evil squirrel competition. XO
Dear Sawyer,
those EVIL tree rats taunt me too. I wish I could go out the window and teach them a lesson when they try to eat all our bird food. You know I am purring and praying that the seizure monster stays away.
Paw Pats,
Noelle
ps – fun poem!
So very sorry to hear about little Sawyer. He’s so blessed to have your love and care to help him along. Continuing prayers for your household. Good news, though, about your addition.
Sorry to hear Sawyer is having such a hard time.
That was some serious squirrel fun! Oh we just had that sweet Sawyer is having such a difficult time, we’re sending purrs and prayers non-stop. Thanks for joining the Thankful Thursday Blog Hop.
BRAVO! Love the poem and I see Evil Squirrel already has weighed in with his appreciation that you entered the contest….it’s a real hoot every year and since squirrels are our favorite pests (!) we knew you’d have a gem of an entry! We sure do hope that our little buddy Sawyer will take his meds regularly and hopefully avoid another terrible seizure. We know this is a “life struggle” for the little guy but we pray every day for him.
Hugs, Teddy and Pam too
That was a fun and squirrely poem!
It makes us feel sad that Sawyer is still having seizures so much, and bad ones, too. Sending purrs and fervent pawyers for him to be an stay well. POTP, too.

I’m so sad to hear that Sawyer is having such bad seizures. I wish there was some way for them to stop.
Thank you for entering my contest! I enjoyed this squirrel’s epic poem, and understand his frustration with the cat… even if my own cats would want Sawyer’s side of the tale. Good luck!
