Thoroughly Poetic Thursday
Time to share some poetry based on an inspiration photo from those Two Spoiled Cats, Teddy and Angel Sammy. Here is that photo followed by my poem.

The Blind Date
Usually blind dates put me in a funk,
but this guy is a real live hunk.
Sometimes that’s good but more often not—
His ego may be inflated or personality overrated.
This gal sure looks amazing.
I wouldn’t think she’d have trouble dating.
My buddy said she’s lots of fun.
This could possibly be a home run.
This is better than an on-line hook-up.
My friend assures me he’s not a schmuck.
But he hasn’t uttered even one word.
Perhaps he is one of those shy nerds.
I guess I should say something soon,
or this girl will think I’m a goon.
I just don’t know where to start.
What if she thinks I’m not too smart?
Okay, I’m jumping in.
This awkward silence is wearing thin.
I’ll just stick out my hand & say my name—
Maybe he will decide to do the same.
Oh wow, she looks as if she’s going to speak.
I dare not look surprised or act like a geek.
Or maybe I should just go first—
Introduce myself in one quick burst.
“Hi, I’m Maggie.”
“Oh, hi, I’m Josh.”
Maggie & Josh each emit an uneasy chuckle.
Could this be the start of life as a couple?

Angel Sammy is the official poet at Two Spoiled Cats. Each Thursday, he transmits his poem from the Rainbow Bridge to brother Teddy. Chaplin: “Our Dada says he never went on a blind date, but given that he doesn’t usually talk to people he doesn’t know, we can only imagine that if he had gone on one it would have been very, very quiet.”
Charlee: “True fact! The first time our Mama and Dada met, on a walk with a mutual friend back in college, they did not say a single word to each other!”
Dang, I was sure I was here and left a comment. That was a terrific poem for those two and excellent thankfuls too. Thanks for joining Angel Brian’s Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!
I agree with Katie Isabella. Just the best! Can you imagine if that really happened and they got married and years from now they would still be laughing about their first meeting?
Good poem. Mama didn’t see the caption under the pic and made a poem instead about two waiting to be interviewed for a job…uh, oh.
I feel awkward saying it as there are plenty of gpd poems but this one…this one is THE best for the Poetry this week. I loved it, frankly.
Your poem is just right, I do hope they become friends and maybe more.
It’s always a thankful thing to get ahead of a deadline.
Great job on the poem. I couldn’t come up with anything. XO
