HAPPINESS TAG

A couple of weeks ago our friends, The Canadian Cats Shoko and Kali nominated us for the Happiness Tag. We are happy to accept and sincerely thank Kali and Shoko for selecting us as a blog that makes them happy. In accepting we have some responsibilities.

List five things that make us happy:

1. Vacationing on the island of Tortola in the British Virgin Islands

Tortola - Happiness Tag

2. Family: Tom and kitties
3. Cycling and Swimming
4. Friends: both personal and blogging
5. Catio (Kitties Blue choice)

Happiness Tag - catio

Name five favorite songs that make us happy:

This was very difficult. So many songs make me happy, and some of my favorite make me melancholy and nostalgic. I love some of those just as much, but these five always make me happy.

California Girls – Beach Boys

In Your Arms – Quito Rymer

Happiness Tag - Quito

Young Turks – Rod Stewart

Whenever God Shines His Light – Van Morrison

You Never Can Tell – Aaron Neville

Admit to adoring five bloggers who make us happy and notify those bloggers:

All the blogs we read and follow make us happy, which made it particularly difficult to select just five. But it should be evident why we have selected these five.

happiness tag - Allie

Friends Furever – The blog of Mauricio’s wife, Allie, (and housemates Ellie and Raz)

Happiness Tag - SampsonKitty Cat Chronicles – The blog of Astrid’s husband, Sampson, (as well as five other kitties, dog Lucy and the Sugar Gliders)

onespoiledcat– Best pal Sammy’s blog (home of the Tuesday Teaser and Thoroughly Poetic Thursday)

McGuffy’s Reader  – Annie is an amazingly talented writer and poet who has become a great friend. (As a bonus her household includes two woofies and four kitties.)

Bailey Boat Cat – Bailey is an honorary Kitty Blue

We are tagging these five blogs to complete the Happiness Tag challenge and hope each will accept and complete the task of naming those things which make them happy.

Once again, the kitties and I want to express our gratitude to Kali and Shoko for selecting us for the Happiness Tag!

SHARKIE & BLUE VISIT THE STAR

Have we piqued your curiosity?

Are you wondering if Sharkie and Blue flew off to Bethlehem?

Maybe they took a ride on a spaceship?

Nope, they visited our famous Mill Mountain Star yesterday. It is the World’s largest man-made star, and it is right here in the Star City…Roanoke, Virginia. You can read about it below.

We visited during the day, so the star was not lit, but if you Google, Mill Mountain Star photos, you can see oodles of photos of it lit up.

Not only did they get to see the star, but also a panoramic view of the Roanoke Valley. The photo doesn’t include the entire valley. You can see our downtown in the distance on the left side of the photo. We live about one mile from downtown to the left and beyond the scope of the cropped image.

We’d like to give them one additional adventure before they return home, but that would involve snow, and we don’t have any in the forecast for the near future We might have to save that for a future visit. We know our brofur, Bailey Boat Cat, is missing his furiends.

But stay tuned, you never know what they might get up to prior to winging their way back to Nocturne.

Se y’all tomorrow for Wordless Wednesday.

Purrs and paw-pats, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo

SHARKIE AND BLUE’S MOST EXCELLENT CYCLING ADVENTURE

Our honorary brofur, Bailey Boat Cat, has two good buddies, plushies Sharkie and Blue. While Bailey was at Cat Camp, Sharkie and Blue visited the U.S. with Mom Lou and Dad James. When Bailey’s folks returned home to Nocturne in Rome, Sharkie and Blue flew here for the holidays. To see our first post about them, click here.

Friday and Saturday we had some unseasonably nice weather with the temperature just below 60 degrees. On Friday the humans decided to ride the tandem. This gave Mom the idea that it would be fun to take Sharkie and Blue on an adventure. So on Saturday our two humans hit the Greenway with the plushies!

While out for their ride, Mom and Dad stopped for lunch at a favorite restaurant. They even ate outside as the weather was so nice. Sharkie and Blue find the noms quite to their liking.

It was a short ride, just over 21 miles, but Mom says Sharkie and Blue seemed to have fun seeing some of our city from their open-air transport.

It has now turned yucky cold and rainy so anymore outings will have to be by car. Mom hopes they can have at least one more prior to their return to Rome and Nocturne.

HONORARY KITTY BLUE #2

The number two does not imply that this new Honorary Kitty Blue will be any lower in rank than our beautiful, honorary sisfur, Nylablue, or that we expect him to play second fiddle to any of us.

When we added Nylablue to our family as an honorary member, we had no idea that this would be more than a one-time occurrence. In Mom’s defense, we doubt that she did either. But the opportunity arose recently to invite this kitty to join us when he celebrated his second birthday and Mom was reading his “About Me” page. Mom decided that she could make the invitation to him and his humans as a birthday gift, which she did…and he accepted.

We have been following this kitty just about since Mom started our blog. We actually think that most humans and cats (and a variety of other animals) in the universe follow this kitty’s blog and his adventures (Hint!). If you don’t know him, we are incredulous. If you do, we are not surprised.

Since the word for Saturday Photo Hunters is “Guess,” we were thinking of posting this at that time and making everyone guess who the honorary inductee would be and then announce the kitty’s name on Sunday. But, as Mom has already included his photo and bio on our FELINES page, that ship has already sailed (Hint!).

So without further ado but with much flag waving (Hint!), meet our newest Honorary Kitty Blue:

bailyboatcat

Did you all guess who it is? None other than Bailey Boat Cat!

On Bailey’s “About Me” page he signed his name as Bailey Blue, and that was good enough for Mom. And since we now know how this honorary thing works, (no sharing of noms, treats, toys, beds, humans or domicile) it was good enough for us as well. And he does class up the place as we don’t have any past or current Siamese cats as part of the family.

You probably also guessed the “Blue” part of Bailey’s name, which he says is not “official” with reference to any documents, was given to him for his mesmerizing and riveting blue eyes. You now can find Bailey’s head shot and a short bio on our FELINES page. And if you have never met him, please click on the link in the above paragraph so you can visit and follow him on his adventures on his beloved boat, Nocturne.

WELCOME BAILEY TO THE KITTY BLUE FAMILY

And if you have never met our other honorary Kitty Blue, we hope you will stop by Nylablue‘s home page and meet her as well. Just click on her name and you will be whisked away to her blog site, Nylablue and SherriEllen’s Purrfect Pad.
