Thoroughly Poetic Thursday
Another week has flown past, and it is time again for poetry. I still have not fcompleted last week’s poem, but I have made progress. I do have a poem for this week’s inspiration photo provided by Angel Sammy and Teddy from Two Spoiled Cats. Once again, it is not my best effort. But it was sort of difficult to write about a summer photo when it is frigidly cold. Nonetheless, here is the photo followed by my short poem.

A Play Date for Dads
When we got home from nursery school,
we found our dads in our pool!
They said they were on a father’s play date
and would be out before it got too late.
Their plan was not to delay our swim,
but they saw the pool and got in on a whim.
They said it was refreshing on a hot day
and wished like us they had time to play.
We think this behavior is very rude.
They better not be here tomorrow after school!

Each week Angel Sammy transmits his poem from the Rainbow Bridge to Teddy for publication. As he is a super talented poet, I always recommend you read his poem. Please stop over to Two Spoiled Cats, by clicking on the poetry badge, to check out Sammy’s poem and get the photo for next week’s challenge.
Thankful Thursday
Each Thursday is also the day when Kitties Blue and I share the things for which we are thankful and join Angel Brian’s blog hop.
It has been bitter cold here for which I am truly ungrateful. In spite of that, however, I am thankful that last Friday I was able to have lunch with my friend, Etna. And on Monday, my friend, Mary Jane, braved the bitter cold and came to our house for lunch consisting of Dad Tom’s homemade chicken soup. Mary Jane brought our favorite desserts—a turtle brownie for her and a lemon bar for me. Yummy! We did share a bit of each with Dad Tom.

And, of course, Kitties Blue and I are thankful to each of you who join our weekly blog hop and everyone who visits and comments on this blog.

Lulu: “Haven’t they got a sauna or steam room or something they could visit instead?”
Your poem perfectly captures the children’s expressions. I am thankful for winter, since it’s not blasting hot summer, but even so cold is painful and I do wish it wasn’t quite this bad.
Fun poem and nice thankfuls. Glad you got to see some friends.XO
I got a kick out of that funny play date, too cute! We sure will be thankful when the temps warm up a bit. Above freezing at night sure would be nice. Thanks for joining Angel Brian’s Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!
Hmm, we’ve heard that a “fathers’ play date” is not usually done in a kitty pool. Maybe out on a golf course or in a dark bar with alcohol…but maybe we heard wrong. I mean, we’re just dogs… XOX Xena and my pack
Cute poem and great THANKFULS.

An excellent poem, and those dads had better leave that pool for the kidlets in the future!
The sound of hot chicken soup warms me right up! I loved your poem, sweet and funny as well!
Hope the weather warms up a bit for you! You for sure would not want to be here in Michigan these days…its snowy and very BRRR!
Well, we are thankful for YOU and the darlings at your house. We’d like to snuggle them all.
Ha! Funny poem for a funny picture; Even so, it is indeed a weird sort of feeling to think about summer stuff when it’s this cold!
