Thoroughly Poetic Thursday
Thursday is one of my favorite days of the week, as I get to be creative and write some poetry. This is thanks to our friends, Teddy and angel Sammy, from Two Spoiled Cats. They provide an inspiration photo, and this week’s is below followed by poem.

Not for Me
A crowd like this is not my cup of tea.
If you look around, you won’t see me.
I’ve never liked crowds–not even as a kid–
long before mass shootings or COVID.
Even if everything was being given away free,
that would never tempt me to go on a spree,
I’d stay at home and chill with my cats,
while others push and shove for a chance
to bring home something they don’t need
just to brag how they beat the stampede
to the very last turnip twaddler* in the store
and are sad they can’t go back for more.
As I always say about scenes like this,
just say, “no,” stay home, and give your cats a kiss.

∗ For those of you unfamiliar with the turnip twaddler, here’s some info from urbandictionary.com.
“Generic name for any useless consumer gadget of the sort frequently sold on late-night infomercials. Commonly sold together with a tomato musher. Originally from the comic strip Bloom County. Opus was powerless to resist late-night TV hucksters and ended up with a living room full of turnip twaddlers.”
Each week Angel Sammy transmits his poem from the Rainbow Bridge to Teddy for publication. Sammy is a masterful poet, and we highly recommend you read his poem for today. Please stop over to Two Spoiled Cats, by clicking on the poetry badge, to check out Sammy’s poem and get the photo for next week’s challenge.
Thankful Thursday
Thursday is also the day we share the things for which we are thankful and then join Angel Brian’s blog hop. My list this week is much smaller than last week.
My major thankful is that Sawyer is home and has not tried any other escape attempts. If you missed yesterday’s post, it contained Sawyer’s Wanted Poster, as it was the three year anniversary of his unauthorized three-and-a-half week walkabout. To view that post, click on the link at the bottom of this one.
My second thankful is that I am scheduled for a cervical MRI today, so I will be able to schedule an ESI (epidural steroid injection) for my neck.
I also am thankful I was able to take all the photos for Periwinkle and Stinky’s adventure on Tuesday. And, they turned out pretty well. Dad Tom is a professional photographer, so I almost always rely on him for their photos.
Of course, Kitties Blue and I are thankful for those of you who continue to visit us and comment on our posts.

Thanks for stopping by today.

Lulu: “Dada!!! How come WE don’t have a turnip twaddler?!”
I’d forgotten about Opus and the turnip twaddlers. I loved Bloom County
That crowd’s not for me, either.
As for Sawyer, I hope he simply stays put!
We’re on the same page about shopping in crowds! Turnip twaddler…I’ll have to remember that. And a major thankful about Sawyer, indeed!
I used to love to go to the mall, but never when this crowded. I prefer to shop at home now. 🙂 XO

I’ve learned a new term: turnip twaddler!
Hahahah, love it!
Terrific poem.
Mom doesn’t like crowds either.
We are very THANKFUL that Sawyer has not attempted another walkabout!!! We hope those injections can help your neck problems.
The Florida Furkids with love and whisker kisses to Sawyer from Noelle
Mom has pain in her neck too, but her lower back hirts so badly thsat itmakes her neck seem less troublesome. We have reached “that” age.
I agree. I don’t like crowds either.
We never ever were so worried as we were when Sawyer went on his “walkabout” – when he was found and brought home was such a super happy time. We hope your shots help your neck – my Mom says she’d like to have a “full body shot” to get rid of her aches and pains and stiff joints but I tell her not to worry – – Dr. Teddy will take care of her! Tee Hee thanks for the FABULOUS poem – it really is perfection for the photo this week…..
Hugs, Teddy
Oh, those neck problems are..well, a pain in the NECK!! Mama is pretty stiff around there, too. We hope you have a good report on the injection.

Good poem! Big crowded sales never appealed to me, either. Such a great relief when Sawyer was found and returned home! Hope your medical procedures go well and you get relief.
Lots of wonderful thankfuls this week! Hope those steroid shots will help you a lot.
I love your poem…and I feel the same way!
