Thoroughly Poetic Thursday
Here we are again with some poetry for Two Spoiled Cats, Angel Sammy and Teddy’s, weekly poetry challenge. Last week they gave us a napping pooch as the inspiration photo, and this week they gave us two!
Here’s the photo followed by my poem.

Dog Days
The dog days of summer have arrived.
It’s hot and humid—we feel barely alive.
We’ve found some relief floating in the pool,
as the water is refreshing and cool.
When the little humans arrive and begin splashing,
we will need to abandon our floats and napping.
But for now, we will relish our relaxing retreat
from this summer’s oppressive heat.

Thankful Thursday
Thursday also is our day to share some thankfuls from the past week.
We have had 4 1/2 inches of rain in the past two days, which we desperately needed.
Periwinkle and Stinky thank those who joined them as they celebrated Tanabata on Tuesday.
Kitties Blue and I are always thankful for those of you who visit and comment on our posts and especially for those who participate in our Sunday Selfies hop.
And thanks, as well, for visiting today.
We will be joining the Thankful Thursday blog hop at Brian’s Home. If you would like to do the same, post on your blog for what you are thankful, and then click on the badge below.

Chaplin: “Ahhh, so THESE are those dog days of summer we’ve heard about …”
Your poem is just right, we all need a good spot like this in summer, I think.
I’m tickled to hear you got so much rain and hope you get more without storms and without it coming too fast.
The Dog Days of Summer…how perfect for this picture, but it didn’t even occur to me. Your poem is right on, too, especially about abandoning the pool when the kids arrive!
It’s so good you got all that rain. We need more, but I hope it holds off until our septic lines are replace. And then, of course, since we also had to have our water lines replaced, we’ll need a whole new front yard!
Great poem and I am glad you got much needed rain. XO

That was a fun pup poem and excellent thankfuls! Thanks for joining Angel Brian’s Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!
All is quiet, until the little sticky people show up!
Those doggies know how to stay cool! Cute poem.
Fun poem and great thankfuls. We had a bit of rain last week but now we’re in record high heat and no rain. Noelle sends forever love to Angel Sawyer.
That is a lot of rain. We got rain too but not quite that much and we need it too. Today is predicted to be rainy off and on. There is something peaceful about a summery rain day.
Yay for doggies getting some heat relief! We like the rainy relief from drought, too!
Lucky you with the rain! We keep being told we’ll have some but it never arrives……we sure need it. Love love love your poem. It’s perfect – it’s been so hot I wonder if even my big Ted would appreciate a float in a pool……..on second thought…….maybe not! Thanks for playing along with us…..next weeks’ photo will be fun too.
Hugs, Pam and Teddy
Love that poem….wish we could join those doggies.
That is a great poem!! We had a lot of rain, too. Glad you got some to help with drought conditions.
