A Florida Adventure
Stinky gets up especially early on Tuesday morning and packs a few items for Periwinkle and his adventure. Periwinkle will not be teleporting to Stinky’s house, but instead he is going to her house, as the adventure he has planned is in Florida. That is the only thing he has told Periwinkle about it.
When Stinky arrives at Periwinkle’s house, she is waiting by the teleportation tunnel and grabs him in a big hug as he tumbles out with the usual whoosh. She notices he has a tote bag with him and is curious and anxious to see inside. She tries to take it from Stinky, but he holds on tightly and requests a few whisker kisses before he reveals its contents. That suits Periwinkle just fine. When they come up for air, he hands the tote to Periwinkle.
Periwinkle pulls out the items inside and gives Stinky a quizzical look. “Costumes? It isn’t Halloween. Why do we have costumes?” she asks.
“We are going undercover for our adventure,” says Stinky with a laugh!
“No, seriously Stinky, what are we doing? I recognize a Superman costume, but what the heck is this other one?”
“That is the Scarlet Witch,” Stinky replies.
Periwinkle just gives him a vacant look.
“Like Superman, the Scarlet Witch is one of the Marvel Comic super heroes.”
“Then, why have I never heard of her?”
“Ahh, that would be because she has never been in any of the Marvel movies, just the comic books.”
Periwinkle is still totally confused and just stares at Stinky.
Finally, Stinky decides to explain. “We are going to visit Marvel Super Hero Island at Universal Orlando’s Islands of Adventure, as today is National Superhero Day. I thought it would be fun to attend as super heroes. So let’s get into our costumes and then I will tell you why I selected the Scarlet Witch for you.”
The Scarlet Witch
When Periwinkle reappears, Stinky is taken aback by how regal and sophisticated she looks. When he regains his composure, he tells Periwinkle he selected this character, as the Scarlet Witch is a sorceress capable of manipulating and reshaping reality on a huge scale and wielding chaos magic. She also possesses paranormal abilities, including telekinesis, energy manipulation and spellcasting. She is one of the most powerful and influential characters in the Marvel Universe.
“Wow, Stinky, I like this character. You and I basically are reshaping reality whenever we go on an adventure. But tell me why you selected Superman and not Spiderman, which you portrayed last Halloween.”
Superman
Stinky replies, ”For starters, that Spiderman costume was lame with the silly cap. Additionally, Superman is able to leap tall buildings in a single bound. That’s a great attribute for a cat who likes to climb on tall things.” Periwinkle rolls her eyes and stifles a laugh at Stinky’s reason for selecting Superman.
Stinky ignores her and continues, “Of course, I like that he possesses superhuman strength, speed, flight, invulnerability, heat and x-ray vision, extraordinary hearing and longevity. Though, his amazing abilities make him nearly god-like; he has a moral compass and commitment to justice, which defines him as a hero. So, now that you have some info about our characters, should we head out for today’s adventure?”
“Definitely,” replies Periwinkle. The tabbies head to the teleportation tunnel paw-in-paw.
Marvel Super Hero Island at Universal Orlando’s Islands of Adventure
Periwinkle and Stinky arrive at the gateway to the Marvel Super Hero Island and actually marvel at the size of the characters on display. It doesn’t take them long after that to meet up with some of the Marvel super heroes.
Captain America invites them to take a photo, and Wolverine compliments them on how authentic they look. Spiderman asks them, “Why are you two cool cats dressed in super hero costumes?”
Stinky explains that they are celebrating National Super Hero Day. All the super heroes take turns shaking Periwinkle and Stinky’s paws and welcoming them on such a special day.
The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man®
Stinky and Periwinkle decide to make the Spiderman Adventure their first stop.
They pick up some 3D glasses and have fun soaring above streets, scaling skyscrapers and battling evil villains.
When they exit the Spiderman Adventure, Periwinkle exclaims “That was really fun! What’s next?”
“Let’s go on the rollercoaster,” Stinky replies.
The Incredible Hulk Coaster®
When Periwinkle sees the rollercoaster, she is not too sure she wants to ride it. “Stinky, I’m afraid I might hork if we do this,” she says.
“No way, you’ll be fine. Remember, you are a super hero today.”
“Okay, but what can you tell me about this thing before I agree?”
“I did look up the specifications before we came. The track length is 3,670 feet, and its tallest point is 110 feet. It launches and accelerates to 40 mph in the first two seconds and reaches a maximum speed of 67 mph. There are seven inversions including a zero-gravity roll, a cobra roll. two vertical loops and two corkscrews. The first drop is 105 feet.”
“Yikes, I really don’t think I want to do this!”
“Trust me, you can do this. The ride will be over before you know it. It only lasts a little over two minutes,” replies Stinky. He then takes Periwinkle’s paw and leads her into one of the cars.
At the first drop, Periwinkle is screaming and crying at the same time.
When the tabbies disembark from the Hulk Coaster, they are both dizzy and weave as they try to walk. Periwinkle finds a bench where they can rest. When she finally catches her breath, she tells Stinky, “That was the scariest thing I have ever done, and I did not have fun!” Periwinkle notices Stinky giggling and punches him on the arm. She says, “You are a sadist, Stinky,” and walks off in a huff. Stinky has to run to catch up.
When Stinky catches up to Periwinkle he puts his arm around her and tells her they can do something more calm. He leads her to the Storm Force Accelatron.
Storm Force Accelatron®
When they reach the Accelatron and get in Professor Xavier’s generator, Stinky tells Periwinkle they need to spin the generator’s wheel super fast. This will help the character Storm build up enough thunder and lighting to blast the evil Magneto character into oblivion and save the planet.
Periwinkle doesn’t understand any of that, and tells Stinky that all the other riders can do the spinning, as he told her this ride would be calm. As the other riders spin their generators faster and faster, Periwinkle keeps her paws on the wheel so Stinky cannot compete with them. She is happy when the ride concludes and she can once again put her paws on solid ground.
“We just have one more ride before we can have dinner,” Stinky tells Periwinkle.
“The chance of me keeping any food in my tummy after this is highly unlikely,” Periwinkle replies between clenched teeth. Again, Stinky giggles, which Periwinkle is beginning to find totally aggravating.
Doctor Doom’s Fearfall
As they approach Doctor Doom’s Fearfall, Periwinkle informs Stinky, “I will not be getting on that thing. If you want to do it, you can go alone.”
“Ahh, come on, Periwinkle. It is only a 199-foot drop,” Stinky replies.
“Read my lips, buster: NO,” shouts Periwinkle.
“With Periwinkle’s refusal, Stinky decides to climb up on a nearby tower.”
Having averted Stinky’s attempt to get her on this final ride, Periwinkle simply stands nearby and waits for Stinky to come down. When he finally does, he takes her paw and leads her to Cafe 4 where he has scheduled a Character Dinner.
Character Dinner
Having worked up an appetite from walking, Periwinkle and Stinky fill up their trays with lots of goodies and enjoy a leisurely meal. Periwinkle is happy her tummy has settled and what goes down does not come up again. When finished, they decide to take one final photo before heading back to Periwinkle’s house.
After the photo, the tabbies enter their teleportation tunnel and are back at Periwinkle’s house moments later. They shed their costumes, and Stinky spends a bit of time visiting with Mom Sharon and Periwinkle’s fursibs. Then it is time for him to head home. He and Periwinkle spend several minutes paw hugging and whisker kissing. And Stinky apologizes to Periwinkle for forcing her to do some things she didn’t enjoy. She gives Stinky an extra hug, and tells him, “I totally enjoyed myself; though, I was frightened at times. You kept me safe and didn’t make me go on that Doctor Doom ride, and that’s what counts.”
Stinky is relieved and happy Periwinkle is not mad at him. He gives her another kiss before entering the teleportation tunnel. Then with a final wave, he is gone in a whoosh.
