Misty May is here to invite you to join us and our host Sammy (onespoiledcat) for Thoroughly Poetic Thursday. This week’s prompt letter is “W.” Can you guess the theme of our poem by looking at Misty May’s photo?

Misty May shows off her whiskers.

Did you guess correctly?

 WHISKERS

Whiskers are always practical,
And whiskers can be magical.
Whiskers send our brains messages
To help us determine distances.
Whiskers aren’t like human hair.
They help us kitties remain aware
Of what is going on around us.
They definitely aren’t superfluous.
We use them as our personal radar.
Humans wish on them as they would a star.
Some people collect them for good luck.
Others sell them on eBay to make a buck,
But only after they’ve naturally fallen out.
Pulling or cutting whiskers is not allowed.
Without them we could walk into walls in the dark,
Or when we jump possibly miss our mark.
Our whiskers are needed and a thing of beauty,
So please just let your kitty’s whiskers be.

We are joining Brian’s Thankful Thursday Blog Hop as well. The kitties are thankful for our humans and all they do for us. And the humans are thankful for the kitties and the love and enjoyment we give them.
