Thoroughly Poetic Thursday
Another Thursday…another poem. Hope that is okay with those of you visiting us today, as I am once again participating in Teddy and Angel Sammy’s poetry challenge. Below is the inspiration photo and my poem.
Unanswered Questions
Old and neglected…this little house
Appears to be deserted and forgotten,
But then who left the welcoming wreath?
Maybe a past resident who has passed
But refused to move on…perhaps waiting
For a lover who left and never returned.
Does she sit on the porch waiting
When the weather is fair and no one around?
Does smoke appear from the chimney
On cold and blustery, winter nights?
How did she pass? As a young woman
With a broken heart when her lover
Didn’t return, in the 2020 pandemic
Or as a withered and lonely old lady
Still longing, waiting and wondering?
Would I find her there today sweeping
The porch, mopping the floor,
Washing the windows and putting a
Fresh wreath on the door in anticipation,
Or has she finally given up, decided
To leave and find the peace she deserves?

Thankful Thursday
My thankful today is the same as it as been now for a few weeks. Dad Tom and I remain healthy, and, to our knowledge, no friends or family have contracted the coronavirus. That is the same thankful I will have every week until our nation comes out on the other side of this pandemic. I pray the predictions of 100,000 to 200,000 deaths in the U.S. is wildly exaggerated. And I pray that each of you stays home and stays healthy.
Periwinkle and Stinky asked me to once again express their thanks to those who came along on their adventure Tuesday.
I am joining Brian for his Thankful Thursday blog hop. If you’d like to do the same, post on your blog for what you are thankful and then click on Brian’s badge to join the blog hop.
We are purring for the end of this Coronavirus nightmare.
Thanks for sharing your wonderful poem. We are happy that you are staying safe during this time. We hope that everyone is doing there best with social distancing and staying home. Have a great day.
Well done on the poem. XO
Love the poem. You do these so very well.
I love your thankful too. We are well here and hope the predictions are wrong.
Have a fabulous Thankful Thursday. Scritches to all the kitties and a big hug to the mom. ♥
That is a terrific poem, we feel bad for that poor house. That’s a most wonderful thankful indeed, we’re right there with you on that. Thanks for joining the Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!
Amazing poem!! We’re thankful that we are all okay still and that Mom’s two friends who were tested were negative.

Oh, what a lovely poem and mysterious little house. I am so sorry your lovely kitty can no longer hear and it must be terrible for her, too. If only they had aids for us, too. Hugs to all!!!
All seem well from the virus here as well. You, me, all of us who are have much to be grateful for.
Having lost relatives in the flu epidemic of 1918, the current situation is poignant and is REAL. Weird how many people are denying its existence…
Take care, all!
A poignant poem for sure today but that old cabin does bring to mind many thoughts for sure. Angel Sammy mentioned the wreath in his poem too – a sign of life on an otherwise lonely old house. We’re so happy you join us every week to share thoughts based on photos – it’s amazing what people can come up with isn’t it. Stay safe and happy………..we love all of you.
Hugs, Teddy and Mom
That is quite a pensive bit of poetry…but that little sad looking house does bring forth those kinds of thoughts, doesn’t it?
We here are healthy…if not bored, though hubby works from home, and so do the 2 sons…I have to go to work on my regular schedule at the nursing home…which so far to my knowledge is virus free. We all are thankful for that!
We are happy you are all keeping healthy – but Oh! Your poem, though beautiful, is so sad.
