UNANSWERED QUESTIONS & THANKS

Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

Another Thursday…another poem. Hope that is okay with those of you visiting us today, as I am once again participating in Teddy and Angel Sammy’s poetry challenge. Below is the inspiration photo and my poem.

Unanswered Questions

Old and neglected…this little house
Appears to be deserted and forgotten,
But then who left the welcoming wreath?
Maybe a past resident who has passed
But refused to move on…perhaps waiting
For a lover who left and never returned.
Does she sit on the porch waiting
When the weather is fair and no one around?
Does smoke appear from the chimney
On cold and blustery, winter nights?
How did she pass? As a young woman
With a broken heart when her lover
Didn’t return, in the 2020 pandemic
Or as a withered and lonely old lady
Still longing, waiting and wondering?
Would I find her there today sweeping
The porch, mopping the floor,
Washing the windows and putting a
Fresh wreath on the door in anticipation,
Or has she finally given up, decided
To leave and find the peace she deserves?

Thankful Thursday

My thankful today is the same as it as been now for a few weeks. Dad Tom and I remain healthy, and, to our knowledge, no friends or family have contracted the coronavirus. That is the same thankful I will have every week until our nation comes out on the other side of this pandemic. I pray the predictions of 100,000 to 200,000 deaths in the U.S. is wildly exaggerated. And I pray that each of you stays home and stays healthy.

Periwinkle and Stinky asked me to once again express their thanks to those who came along on their adventure Tuesday.

I am joining Brian for his Thankful Thursday blog hop. If you’d like to do the same, post on your blog for what you are thankful and then click on Brian’s badge to join the blog hop.
