Thoroughly Poetic Thursday
As I do every week, I have written a poem for Teddy and Angel Sammy’s poetry challenge. The inspiration photo and my poem are below.
First Haircut
Looking all grown up
With your first big boy haircut…
Maybe you will no longer be mistaken
For a girl without your head full of curls.
Do you recognize the toddler in the mirror
Or do you think it’s a new friend
Come to have his haircut too?
I will miss your childish look but will add
A lock of hair to your baby book.
I wish this milestone could somehow last.
As I know you will grow up much too fast.

Each Thursday, Mom Pam (Two Spoiled Cats) posts a photo to serve as inspiration for a poem to be posted on our blogs the following Thursday. If you haven’t tried writing poetry, it’s a great way to stretch your imagination. An excellent site to check out with guidelines for writing every type of poem is Shadow Poetry.
Check out next week’s inspiration photo by clicking on the badge at the left. Then look into Shadow Poetry and see if you can write a poem for next week.
While visiting Teddy and Angel Sammy, make certain you read Sammy’s poem. He transmits it to Teddy from the Rainbow Bridge, and it is always a winner. You’ll also find links in the Comments section to poems by other bloggers.
Thankful Thursday
Joining the Thankful Thursday blog hop hosted by Brian also is a weekly tradition. It’s a good way to remind oneself that even if our life is handing us some difficult challenges, we can always find something for which to be thankful.
Everyone in the Blue household is thankful for Sawyer currently being 16 days seizure free as well as for all those who pray for him and send POTP. And if you saw our post from yesterday, you already know Dad Tom and I are super thankful that our little guy is starting to trust us and is less standoffish and grumpy. It’s been a long time coming.
I am thankful this week that I was one of four first commenters on the Tuesday Teaser at Two Spoiled Cats. I shared the honors with three others, including Mom Sharon from our extended family at Friends Furever. We all received this cool badge.
Finally, as we are everyday, Kitties Blue and I are thankful for all our friends and followers.
If you’d like to join the Thankful Thursday Blog Hop, post for what you are thankful on your blog and then click on Brian’s badge to enter your link on his post.
Thanks for stopping by to see us. We’ll be back tomorrow to join the Friendly Fill-Ins and Feline Friday blog hops.
Very cute poem. I pray for Sawyer daily. XO
That is such a sweet poem, love the baby book memory. Keep doing good dear Sawyer, the whole world loves you and enjoys your thankful news. Thanks for joining the Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!
What a cute poem! And we too are thankful that Sawyer has been seizure free for over 2 weeks and we purr he continues to be.
Love the poem.
I’m so happy about Sawyer. Keep up the good work little one.
I’m thankful that I quit lurking here and finally decided to start commenting. It was a very good thing.
Have a fabulous Thankful Thursday, Janet. Big hug to you and lots of scritches to all the kitties. ♥
Poor guy. That’s a 40-year old man’s haircut on a toddler!
Great news for Sawyer. Paws crossed the next 16 days are seizure free.

This image reminded me of when my mother would cut the girls hair in the family room, then Dad would get out the trimmer and clean up the boys! Each one of us sitting on the tall chair, with a sheet tied around our neck. Wow, I think I just went time-traveling!
Little Sawyer is definitely a reason to be thankful!
I am so extra glad that Sawyer is still free from the seizures. May he please please remain that way.
Great poem!! We are VERY Thankful for all the good things in Sawyer’s life (Noelle hopes she’s included in them!) We’re also Thankful to have shared the first commenter badge with you!!
The Florida Furkids with smoochies and love to Mau from Allie and paw pats and headbonks to Sawyer from Noelle
That is a great poem. It reminded me of my son’s first haircut. He had a head full of curls. We were visiting my parents in Illinois and took him to my aunt’s shop, who was a hairdresser at the time.
That is a super poem……and it’s the feeling Angel Sammy had when he wrote his too we’re SURE. I know he’s as happy as WE are that you pawticipate in his Poetry Day every week because it’s really fun isn’t it! Congrats on getting a badge at Teaser too!
Hugs, Teddy and Pam
That is a lovely poem.
Oh, how that poem you penned, reminds me of my little …(well back then as he is way taller than me…), when he was about two, he had huge brown eyes and a headful of longish blond curls…and yes, he had them all cut off to a big-boy look…and after that my sister was glad, because no one asked her anymore about her baby sister…who was her baby brother; she had enough of me, her real sister, MOL, MOL!
I too am glad that Sawyer has extended his seizure free time, that is pawsome! Will continue the purrs and POTP.
