Arriving in New Hampshire
Stinky sent Periwinkle coordinates for the teleportation tunnel so they could meet at the destination of their adventure. As he bounces from paw to paw (more from excitement than from the cold); though, he is definitely cold, he hopes she set them correctly. He knows she is going to be in awe of the place he has selected for their adventure.
With just a few minutes more of a wait, Periwinkle tumbles out of her tunnel into Stinky’s waiting paws. After lots of hugging and whisker kissing, Periwinkle looks around and cannot believe what she is seeing. Being a Florida cat, she’s mesmerized by what surrounds her.
“Stinky, where are we? Are we still on our planet?” she asks.
Stinky can see she is shivering, so before he answers, he helps Periwinkle into a warm coat and boots. She hugs and thanks him.
Ice Castles
Stinky takes Periwinkle’s paw and leads her forward while explaining where they are. “We are in New Hampshire and this is Ice Castles. Mom saw a television show about the one in Utah and looked it up on-line for me. That’s how we found this one, which allowed us to visit without traveling as far.”
As they begin to explore, Stinky tells Periwinkle more about the attraction. ”In December, the site’s lead builder and his team set up icicle farms. These consist of metal racks that are sprayed with water to allow icicles to grow on them overnight. Those icicles are harvested by the artists and placed around more than 70 water sprinklers.”
“After the sprinklers are turned on, water begins to freeze to the icicles. Those icicles grow together and get bigger and thicker. Then the artists spend 4,000 hours dripping and shaping the icicles. Within a few weeks, the icicles cover the entire park. The castles feature ice-carved tunnels, fountains, slides, frozen thrones, and towers. Some like this one reach heights of 20 feet.”
“We are lucky we have claws, Stinky. I am certain the humans cannot climb up here. And wow, they are missing a terrific view!”
“It definitely is spectacular. We can see the entire site from here,” adds Stinky.
“These tunnels are really fun. Do you know how they get all these colors, Stinky?”
“Yes, the artists embed color-changing LED lights within the 25,000 pounds of ice.”
“I also love the soundtrack they have playing. It makes this even more magical,” remarks Periwinkle.
Romance in the Air?
“It’s also very romantic as well, don’t you think?” asks Periwinkle.
Stinky blushes but takes Periwinkle’s paw and gives her a whisker kiss.
“I’m starting to get pretty cold and think I need a warm drink,” Periwinkle tells Stinky.
“That sounds good to me, I am certain we can find someplace nearby,” Stinky tells Periwinkle as they take a final look around.
“Does this look okay to you, Periwinkle?”
“Oh yes, thanks Stinky.”
After enjoying some hot chocolate and pastries, the tabbies share lots and lots of paw hugs and whisker kisses. Reluctantly the two finally enter their teleportation tunnels for their trips home, each already looking forward to their next adventure.

Wowee! That is a grand ice spectacle! How coo to learn how its made, as well! Tons of ice from tons of work!
Niagara Falls makes interesting ice formations too…all by itself, but it is dependent on the weather, and it only lights up from spotlights…I somehow think the ice castle place you visited is way more fun, cause you cannot climb on or into Niagara Falls, MOL!
