Bird & Squirrel Watching
With the usual whoosh, Periwinkle comes flying out of the teleportation tunnel right into Stinky’s waiting paws. She is excited to find out his plan for today’s adventure and gives him some paw hugs and a huge whisker kiss!
Stinky is a little concerned, as he thinks she will find today’s adventure really lame. “I checked the calendar and all the web-sites for things to do in Virginia and came up with nothing. Last year, our adventure day fell on Cooper Murphy’s Gotcha Day. Do you remember the surprise party we gave him?” asks Stinky.
“Oh yes,” replies Periwinkle, and asks, “Are we going to do that again?”
“I did consider it, but his Gotcha Day isn’t until the 7th,” replies Stinky.
Periwinkle looks a little sad, as she remembers what fun they had last year. “So what’s up then?” she asks.
Stinky explains that his little sisfur, Kizmet, has just discovered the birds and squirrels outside the kitchen window. Thinking of that, he’s decided that he and Periwinkle would do some bird and squirrel watching.
Periwinkle thinks that sounds like a fun idea but wants to know why they don’t go out to the catio to watch. Stinky tells her they can for a short time, but it is much colder than she is accustomed to in Florida, so they will do much of their watching from inside the house.
Periwinkle grabs his paw, and tells Stinky to lead the way.
When they arrive in the kitchen, they find Kizmet already in place at the window watching a squirrel. She appears to be stalking it.
Periwinkle whispers to Stinky, “She sure is cute Stinky. Do you like her?”
“Yeah, I think so,” he replies. Stinky goes on, “She likes to chase me and thinks she can sleep in my place on the bed, but she’s always happy and nice. If you really want to see how we get along, make certain you check out the Wordless Wednesday post tomorrow.”
Periwinkle then asks Kizmet if she likes her new home. Kizmet answers by giving Periwinkle a nose boop and purring enthusiastically. The two girls start chatting about their brofurs.
Exasperated with all the chit chat, Stinky suggests they zip it and do a bit of critter watching. Periwinkle gives him a hard nudge and frown for being insensitive. Stinky blushes and apologizes, and the three kitties settle down for an afternoon of bird and squirrel watching.
“Wow, I can’t believe that squirrel came right up on the other side of the window like that,” exclaims Periwinkle.
“Yeah, the squirrels here are pretty cheeky,” says Stinky.
Stinky, Periwinkle and Kizmet fall quiet and just watch the squirrel, now on the bird feeder, from the window .
“That guy is quite the acrobat, isn’t he?” says Periwinkle.
Stinky nods and invites Periwinkle to go out on the deck for a few minutes. She’s anxious to go out and asks if Kizmet is going to join them.
“Not today. She did run out to the catio from the kitchen for the first time yesterday but didn’t stay. And we are going just outside the catio,” replies Stinky.
“I cannot believe that guy doesn’t freak out and run off,” says Periwinkle.
“They are not afraid of anything,” replies Stinky.
After Mr. Squirrel leaves, Stinky and Periwinkle sit outside for just a while longer looking at the birds, but soon grow cold and go back inside. After a snack and a quick visit with Stinky’s mom and dad and fursibs, it is time for Periwinkle to head back home.
At the teleportation tunnel, Periwinkle tells Stinky, “I had a fabulous time. I think this was a wonderful adventure. And I loved getting to know your new sisfur better. She is sure sweet and cute too!”
Stinky takes Periwinkle’s paws in his and whispers to her, “But not as sweet or cute as you!” They share many whisker kisses and paw hugs before Periwinkle finally enters the tunnel for her trip home. The two share a final wave and with a whoosh Periwinkle is whisked away.
Stinky searches the house for a sunpuddle where he can snooze and dream of his Periwinkle.
The End
The tabbies are joining the Happy Tuesday blog hop at Comedy Plus.
What a really fun adventure. We wish our skwerls were so bold and ran up to the house. They are kind of wary as Feral Fanny lives under the shed. It was so nice that Kizmet met Periwinkle and Stinky you have to let the girls be girls. I know it is kind of boring while they chit chat, I have a sisfur, but they will be done soon enough. Thanks for allowing us to look in on your adventure. Purrs to you and your sibs and family too
We love watching the squirrels here, too. We’re so glad Kizmet is fitting in so well, and that you had so much fun on your adventure!
What magnificent squirrel watching you have there. Happy New Year!!!!
That was a cute date. That squirrel is very brave. XO
WoW! You guys had a terrific day! Reading your adventures is so much fun, We have not seen our squirrels – we think they are hibernating with all of our snow! Boy your squirrels ARE cheeky!
Another great adventure. I always enjoy what you’re up to each week.
Kismet will learn as time goes by. It takes time to figure out the kitty rules.
Thank you for joining the Happy Tuesday Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous Happy Tuesday. Scritches to the kitties and a hug to mom. ♥
So, Kizmet was introduced to Periwinkle! She’s still a baby; Stinky, you’ll need to give her some instructions on how to house cat properly.
Sometimes, our squirrels throw stuff at us human, while in the yard. The nerve!!!
I had such a fun time. It was nice to get to know your new sisfur a little better and, of course, anytime I get to be with YOU is purrfect.
paw pats and headbonks,
Periwinkle
We thought that was a fun adventure, squirrels are fun to watch!
I think it was a fine adventure – getting to know Kizmet and watching her explore new things in her new home HAD to be a ton of fun! It just proves you don’t have to go outside your own house to find lots of INTERESTING things to do and see!
Hugs, Teddy
That sounds like a furry pleasant way to spend the day.
We also think the pictures are really cute.
Critter watching and bird TV are a ton of fun…even for us doggies!! Imagine that…When we spot a squirrel, we get all excited and chase it away…those dudes are smart, and they never come out of the tree we made them go up…they just chatter at us and we think they are teasing us cause we can’t climb up after them!!
You two had a great time and a fun adventure:)
