Halloween
Stinky sat next to the teleportation tunnel, anxiously awaiting Periwinkle’s arrival. She was a little late, and he was worried that she might have taken a wrong turn when she suddenly came whooshing out of the tunnel almost knocking him down. He grabbed her around the waist to keep her from going head long into a wall.
“Wow, that was a fast trip,” said Periwinkle. “I think I am a little dizzy.”
“Then sit down, and I’ll get you some water,” Stinky said as he let go of her.
“Oh thank you. I am just so excited. I have never been a Halloweenie before or gone trick-or-treating,” Periwinkle gushed.
It was then that Stinky noticed Periwinkle wasn’t wearing a costume, and he asked her about it.
“I didn’t want it to get messed up on the trip here. I’ll put it on while you get me that water,“ Periwinkle responded.
While Stinky trotted off to the kitchen, Periwinkle slipped into her costume.
“Wowzers,” Stinky exclaimed as he entered the room and saw Periwinkle looking all pink and frilly.
“So what do you think?” Periwinkle asked as she twirled around.
Like I said, “wowzers!”
“Since you already have your costume on, should we head out?” asked Periwinkle.
“Just let me get our supplies,” Stinky responded while struggling to pull two overflowing wagons out of the closet.
“Now those really deserve a wowzers,” Periwinkle proclaimed as she saw what was in the wagons.
“We will not be tricking anyone tonight, only treating,” said Stinky, adding, “We have cases of food, treats and some tubs of nip.”
“Stinky, where did all this come from?” asked Periwinkle.
“My mom and I bought some, but most of it was donated by Cat Scouts,” Stinky told her.
“That’s so generous. Are we taking all of it to the Black Cat house we discovered last week?”
“Yep! I revisited after you went home and got a list of everything they need for the next few months. Oh, and by the way, the Head Cat’s name is Walter.”
“Stinky, how will we ever get these wagons there? It is a long walk and these are too heavy for us to pull or push.”
“When the Cat Scouts delivered all these provisions, a couple of them also volunteered to pull the wagons there for us, on the condition of remaining anonymous,” replied Stinky.
“Those Cat Scouts are pretty amazing. Maybe we should join.”
“As much as I’d like to Periwinkle, my mom says that two Cat Scouts is all she can handle. I bet your mom would say the same.”
“You are probably right, Stinky, and we do have our adventures to keep us busy,” replied Periwinkle.
Just then the cat door swung open and two brawny Cat Scouts entered the house.
One of them asked, ”Are you whippersnappers ready to get this show on the road?”
Jumping up and down together, Periwinkle and Stinky replied in unison, “You bet.”
With that said, the two Cat Scouts and the two tabbies set out on their Halloween Adventure.
When reaching the Black Cat house, they noticed even more eyes staring out at them. It was as if the number of cats had more than doubled since their previous visit.
Periwinkle stood on Stinky’s back so she could ring the doorbell. Walter appeared almost immediately. He was surrounded by dozens of other black kitties of all ages and sizes, who immediately began a round of apaws.
As the two Scouts unloaded all the provisions, Periwinkle and Stinky began introducing themselves to all the kitties while shaking paws. They met three Blackies, Lucy, Luther, Lyle and Luigi. They also met Rascal, Reba, Ringo, Randy and Whiskers. They met so many kitties, they knew they’d never remember all their names.
Walter told Stinky and Periwinkle that the numbers of kitties staying at the house had grown huge with Halloween just two days away.
Once all the provisions had been unloaded, hugs and thanks were passed all around. The Cat Scouts told Periwinkle and Stinky to jump in the wagons for a ride home. Stinky and Periwinkle crawled into the same wagon, curled up together and fell fast asleep.
When they arrived at Stinky’s house, the Scouts carried Periwinkle and Stinky inside. The tabbies never woke up. Knowing the two youngsters would be tired, Stinky’s mom had already called Periwinkle’s mom to see if she could stay overnight. Periwinkle and Stinky were placed in Stinky’s bed where they soundly slept through the night.
In the morning, after a hardy Fancy Feast breakfast, and many whisker kisses, tears and hugs, Periwinkle popped into the teleportation tunnel and was swiftly returned to her house.

It is so nice of Periwinkle and Stinky to think of others and take all those great things to the Black Cats. Being a Cat Scout it really makes me proud to know we chipped in to help. Keep up the great work you two. See you next week

What a great story – about a sweet bunch of kitties !
What a super adventure. We’re so happy all the black cats are safe. It sounds like Walter is in charge and doing a good job. It sure was nice of Cat Scouts to donate all those goodies. We’re pretty sure Periwinkle is NOT going to be a Cat Scout since her Mom has enough problems keeping up with two scouts already!!
The Florida Furkids with smoochies and love to Mau from Allie and paw pats and headbonks to Sawyer from Noelle.
Great story, love it!
So kind! We all need a boost of kindness; the whole world ’round!
Nice job, kitties!
Well done. Everything was most happy except for their parting.
I linked this post to Happy Tuesday.
Have a purrfect day, Janet. Big hug to you and lots of lovies to the kitties. ♥
How nice of Cat Scouts to donate all that stuff. Nice Halloween story too. I’m curious, I here all this talk about cat scouts but what is a Cat Scout and what’s involved in being a Cat Scout? Thank you for the story.
Oh what a wonderful Halloweenie story! Love that all the black cats were together in the house for safety since some “not so smart” humans think they are unlucky. They will be safe and sound and well fed thanks to Stinky and Periwinkle. Thank heavens CAT SCOUTS donated all that food and help. I’m proud to be a Cat Scout too. Thanks for another round of adventure with our intrepid duo!
Hugs, Teddy
That was a precious tale! I can just imagine all those black kitties having a feast to remember forever!
