Dearest Friends,
Thank you so much for your kind words, purrs, prayers and POTP yesterday. And thank you to those who sent e-mails to Mom with suggestions for my care and treatment. Mom has been investigating other medications, including herbal ones and is aware of Tanya’s Guide to Feline CKD. Some of you mentioned an alternative appetite stimulant, cyproheptadine, and Mom has already decided to purchase and try it.
I didn’t eat my foods very well today, but I ate more treats than I have in a while. Mom has been putting a little nip with them as I really like that, and then I will eat most of the treats. She’s thinking of trying a bit on my foodables as well. Does anybody know of any reason she shouldn’t do that?
As I am here again today, I get to do the Friendly Friday Fill-ins, hosted by Mom Ellen at 15AndMeowing and Mom Annie at McGuffy’s Reader. My fill-ins are in teal italics.

I was sleeping peacefully in the cube when Dad got me out to take my meds. When I came back, Mauricio had snuck in. I am not happy about that!
4. Sitting in either Mom’s or Dad’s lap always makes me happy.
This is a blog hop. You can enter your link on Annie’s blog.

Purring for you Fi — and we love the “sprinkle” idea!!
Sorry that those CKD foods aren’t so tasty, Fiona. 🙁
When Moosey had CKD, we tried so many foods until we found something he would eat. In the end, we got lucky, and found that he would eat the Royal Canin CKD formula foods. We hope and pray your mommy finds something for you, too. In the meantime, the most important thing is that you DO eat, so keep trying, okay?
Such sweet, sweet answers to the fill-ins. Fiona, I am honoured to have you here! Chloe Jo feels your pain, literally. Have you tried natural, freeze-dried chicken treats? Our vets approved them for Chloe Jo and she loves them. Most treats upset her tummy; this does not. It seems to perk her appetite, too. We want you to feel better, too. HUGS!
We know your mom will do everything she can for you, Fiona. We continue to send you lots of purrs.
Lots of good thoughts for you, Fiona. CKD is hard on kitties and the humans who love them most.
Hmmm… I’m tryin’ to think of somethin’ that always makes me happy. HMMM… Oh yeah! NIP!!!
Purrs,
Seville
Oh Fiona, your Mom is trying everything she can to help you with special foods and mixing in nip with your treats, etc. – and I am hoping that it all works for you dear girl. What a shame Mau hogged your pink cube while you were helpless to defend it! SHAME ON HIM! You continue to eat your special food and let your Mom do anything else she wants to try – after all – there may be some magic out there she’ll find that will do the trick!
Love, Sammy
Sending all our love to you, Fi. How dare that Mauricio steal CJ’s pink cube from you!
We keep purring for you, Fiona. If some nip on your food makes you eat, go for it ! Purrs
Fiona, we’re sending purrs and prayers that your numbers improve soon. We hope your appetite comes back too so you eat the foods you’re supposed to. (((hugs))) for your mom.

Thank you for participating in the fill-is beautiful Fiona. I know the kidney food doesn’t taste as good as regular food, but please try to eat it. I thought Mau was a gentleman and a true Cat Scout- I hope he got out of the cube for you. XO
Purrs to you Fiona. I agree with the others, if you like a sprinkle of nip then nip away!
When my old girl Buddy (16+) was sinking into renal failure, the vet told me that the most important thing was that she EAT, no matter what it was,so if Fiona likes her nip, more power to her !
I’m glad that you stopped in again for today’s post, Fiona. It’s always so nice to see you, pretty girl. Your fill-ins are just purrfect. You know, my Rosie never took to renal food either. So, she just didn’t get any. We fed her what she wanted, as her vet always said that it was better she eat anything than nothing at all. So let your mom know what you like, Fiona, so that she knows what to get you. Rosie liked Fancy Feast and Friskies moist food, and baby food.
I didn’t say it yesterday, but I am not a big fan of mirtazapine either. Rosie took that during her last week or so, when she was starting to fail from heart failure and cancer. She had a very, very strange reaction to it, as even the smallest possible dose made her act hyperactive, yet at the same time she could barely even walk while on it. It was a strange and terrifying experience.
Now I hope you’re resting, Fiona, either in your pink tube or on a lap. Purrs and many, many prayers to you, sweet girl!
Awww, Fiona – that bad Maurico taking over your napping spot!!! I hope he was a gentlemancat and gave it up for you! We love you and continue to lift you up in our prayers.
That is another thing my human used to do with Sparkle – she used to sprinkle her favorite treats-of-the-moment on top of her cat food to encourage her to eat. There are also powdered flavor enhancers to top off cat food… but my human can’t remember what they are called. Maybe someone else knows about them.
