RARE GIULIETTA SELFIE

Sunday Selfies: Week #183

When Mom told me I had to take the selfie and host the hop this week, I was not amused. I am not inclined to show-off, especially as I no longer have my sisfur by my side. In fact, I am really an introvert. I spend almost everyday in my hidey hole. In fact that’s where I took my selfie.

Giulietta's Sunday Selfie

I stuck my paw out and snapped my selfie while frowning at Mom. She did say that you all will enjoy seeing my feeties, even without the toe beans.

Saying Good-Bye

We all are nursing our hurting hearts as we remember and honor Mr. Jack Freckles (Meezer’s Mews and Terrieristical Woofs) today. We really loved that woofie. His health had been fragile for a very long time, but he and his fursibs always joined us for Sunday Selfies. MJF earned his wings last Monday, February 5.

Rest in Peace, Mr. Jack Freckles. You were and will remain loved forever.

If you have not had the opportunity to leave your condolences for MJF’s family, click on the link above.

We just found out that we lost another dear friend, just yesterday. Sister Kit from Brian’s Home is the latest Crotchety Cougar to get her wings and fly off to the Bridge. If you haven’t done so already, please visit Brian’s Home and leave your condolences. We will honor Sister Kit on next Sunday’s blog hop.

Thanks for joining in the fun. It is raining here, so we’ll be snuggled in with Mom watching the Olympics today. How about you? Do you have a favorite winter sport? I think I’d like to try Slopestyle snowboarding. My feeties are so big, I probably wouldn’t need the board.

Thanks for joining us.

Purrs and paw-pats, Giulietta

UNWILLING SELFIE PARTICIPANT

Sunday Selfies: Week #182

Lisbeth protests taking a selfie.

I bet you are not surprised to see my airplane ears after reading the title of this post. I was the only one hanging out with our humans this morning when Mom wanted a selfie for today’s post. As well as showing my displeasure with my ears, I refused to look at the phone when I snapped this.

Mom was looking for a nice frame to jazz this up and found this vintage photo effect on PhotoFaceFun. If I was going to send my photo to someone, for example my boyfriend Charles, I would have been more cooperative.

My fursibs and I all hope that those joining our hop today won’t be as obstinate as I was.

Here’s a few tips for joining the blog hop. If you’re a regular with us, you can, of course, skip this stuff.

WANTED: HAPPILY EVER AFTER

Sunday Selfies: Week #181

As we told you yesterday, today’s hop is being hosted by a very special guest. This extremely handsome and adoptable man-cat is the cat Kitties Blue currently sponsor at PAWS Connecticut.

This is Taylor. Look at those stunning green eyes and sweet expression. Can’t you just imagine him sitting in your lap, snuggling and purring?

PAWS CT adoptable cat, Taylor

Taylor first appeared as our guest host on December 3. As we told you then, our previously sponsored cat, Charlotte, had been adopted. We selected Taylor as the next kitty we would sponsor for his resemblance to our sweet angel, Fiona. He’s been living at PAWS for most of his life and deserves that happily ever after in a forever home.

Here’s what we told you about Taylor in December. He is a healthy, male, adult cat. Taylor arrived at PAWS on April 10, 2010, as a small kitten. He was shy and frightened by people. Somehow, he got overlooked time after time when individuals came to adopt. Taylor gets along well with other nice cats. He’s curious and interactive with people. With just a little extra TLC he can become your best friend.

Kitties Blue will sponsor Taylor for as long as he remains at PAWS, as we did with Swizzle and Charlotte. But wouldn’t it be nice for him to have a loving home for Valentine’s Day. If you are interested in adopting Taylor or if you know someone who might be, please click here.

We must confess that Taylor had a bit of help with his selfie. Our dear friend Kevin (meowmeowmans) from Animal Shelter Volunteer Life and his wife Tracey are dedicated PAWS volunteers, and Kevin sent us several new photos of Taylor. Here are a few more.

Saying Good-Bye to Mr. Buttons

We are very sad that another friend received his wings and ran off to the Bridge. Mr. Buttons was here with us just last Sunday as he celebrated his 7th Gotcha Day with his brothers and sisters at TomCat Commentary by Tim. If you haven’t already, please stop in and leave your condolences for Dad Pete and all the kitties.

NAUGHTY BOY SELFIE

Sunday Selfies: Week #180

If you missed yesterday’s post, you are unaware that our mom volunteered me as your host for today’s Sunday Selfies post. You probably think that it is because I am totally adorable. But you’d be wrong…not when it comes to my adorableness but for the reason I was volunteered.

Dad Tom and Mom think I was naughty on Friday night and that taking a selfie would be my punishment. First of all, I do not think I was naughty but just a bit impulsive. And secondly, I’m happy to take a selfie. Like I said, “I am adorable.”

Naughty boy hosts Sunday Selfies

Now, look at that face. I am totally innocent looking, so how how could I have been naughty. I only slipped out the front door and went under Mom’s car to play a little, It was dark out, but I swear I didn’t plan to run off anywhere. I was just getting a little fresh air. Okay, I know I can do that on the catio, but I just needed to see if the air is fresher in front of the house. That’s totally reasonable, don’t you think?

I’ll admit my plan had one major flaw. I made my escape at dinnertime! Mom thought if she told me it was dinnertime, I would sprint right back in the house. Nope. I’m not that easy. It took the promise of treats and Dad dangling my wand toy in front of me until he was able to scoop me up. I wasn’t pleased by the outcome, but at least I didn’t miss my dinner. The treats, however, were left on the front porch. he skunks probably found them.

So, anyhoo, I am here as your host today.

Tabby Cat Club

I liked this selfie so much, I used it for my Tabby Cat Club I.D. as well. I wanted to join Cat Scouts with Mau and Cooper Murphy, but Mom says that isn’t going to happen. She claims that Cat Scouts takes a lot of time and effort. She thinks I wouldn’t help her. Hmmm…she’s probably right! I’m a kitten and extremely busy. So I have joined Cooper Murphy at TCC.

Health Update

Again, if you didn’t drop by yesterday, you don’t know that Mau has the eye icks! He went to the vet yesterday morning and is now getting meds and eye ointment along with Calista Jo. Mom and Dad caught his infection a bit more quickly, so he didn’t have a high fever or need fluids. So we could us a few more purrs, prayers and POTP that this does not spread to any others in the furmily. Astrid, Giulietta, Lisbeth and Misty May are healthy, and we’d like to keep it that way.

Hopping

Now that I have shared my adorableness, it is time for you to share yours. here’s a few tips for sharing your selfie and joining the hop.

  • The link to add your selfie to the hop is below.
  • You also will find below the code to use if you’d like the hop to appear on your blog.

IF WE COULD TURN BACK TIME

Health Update

Before I show my selfie, Mom asked me to fill you in on what’s going on at our house. Holy carp…2018 continues to be one sucky year. We’d all like to turn the calendar back to 2017. Calista Jo is now sick. She was rushed off to the vet office today with a badly swollen and infected right eye. Mom had to put a warm, wet compress on it to help get the eye open. Her fever was not as high as Cooper Murphy’s was…only 104 degrees. She got sub-q fluids and an injection, and is now on the same antibiotics and antibiotic eye ointment as Cooper Murphy, who has two more days of medication. C.J. is now the one being confined to the living room.

As we did with Cooper Murphy, Mom, Dad and Kitties Blue are asking for purrs, prayers and POTP for Calista Jo. But more importantly, will you please pray that this infection doesn’t work it’s way through our entire fur family. Thank you.

Sunday Selfies: Week #179

I didn’t expect to be back with you again today, but I was the only one hanging out with Mom today. I really didn’t want to take this as you can see by my ears. This actually is the best of three photos I snapped.

Astrid hosts week #179 of Sunday Selfies.

Now that I have showed you mine, it is your turn. Here are a few guidelines if you are new to hopping or our hop.

Happy Birthday

Sunday Selfies - Sophie Servos birthdayMom, Dad and all the Kitties Blue are sending a message to a very special friend, Mom Sophie, AKA LP, from Critters in the Cottage. Today is her birthday. We wish her much love, joy and blessings as she celebrates. Hope you can drop by her blog and wish her a happy birthday.

Thanks for joining us again today. We appreciate all the love and support.

Purrs and paw-pats, Astrid

COOPER MURPHY’S GOTCHA DAY

Sunday Selfies: Week #178

Today is the first anniversary of my Gotcha Day. Unfortunately we won’t be doing much celebrating, as I am not feeling up to it. And I told Mom that I wouldn’t take a selfie right now, as my eyes are not looking very good. So I selected a selfie I took on Christmas Day to share with you. I hope you like it.

Cooper Murphy Gotcha Day Sunday Selfie

Do you like how I have the outline of a star right on my nose? I think that means I am special and makes me even cuter than I already am.

My Health

Mom said yesterday that we’d let you know more about what is going on with me. They took me to see Dr. Neel when they were picking up Sawyer after his neuter surgery. I was supposed to get my yearly vaccines and have my right eye looked at. Mom and Dad thought Sawyer may have scratched it during one of our wrestling matches.

Dr. Neel stained my eye and didn’t see any scratches, but by third eyelid and conjunctiva were red and somewhat swollen. When she took my temp (yeah, I know, that sucks), I had a fever of 105+ degrees. She did some blood work, which turned out to be okay. Then she gave me some fluids, a shot and a pill. I felt a little better.

Mom and Dad gave me more sub-Q fluids yesterday morning. (They had lots of practice with Fiona.) Unfortunately, I wasn’t very cooperative, but they did get some in me. I also had ointment put in my eyes. Mom was supposed to give me a pill last night, but nothing she tried worked. I’m no dummy!

Anyhoo, I have some sort of infection. Whatever the cause, I just have to get better. Mom says that when I am feeling well again, we can open our Secret Paws gift. It arrived on January 2. As that was the day Lily Olivia received her wings, it remains unopened. Mom hopes the promise of getting to dive into the goodies will be motivation for me to get well super quick. I also need to get well, as Mom and Dad already are stressed out from losing Lily.

If it wouldn’t be too much to ask, do you think you could send me a few purrs, prayers and POTP?

I am pretty tuckered out now, so I will let Mom finish this post.

Purrs and paw-pats, Cooper Murphy

Hopping With Us

Last week, I said Kitties Blue and I would be making every attempt to visit and comment on the posts of everyone who entered the hop. Unfortunately Lily’s passing got me totally side-tracked. With Cooper being ill, I am not certain I will do much better this week. But the promise stands. Once we get things back to a somewhat normal routine, we will be working on that promise.

If you are new to hopping, here are a few tips to help you join our hop.

  • The link to add your selfie to the hop is below.
  • You also will find below the code to use if you’d like the hop to appear on your blog.

LILY’S SELFIE & MEW YEAR’S RESOLUTIONS

Sunday Selfies: Week #177

My fursibs indicated yesterday that they thought I would be uncooperative and refuse to do a selfie for the last hop of 2017. I couldn’t let them be right, so here I am. Of course, being Lily Olivia and a Crotchety Cougar, I had to be a bit of a stinker and close my eyes. That means I didn’t do a very good job of lining up the shot and cut off one of my ears almost entirely. I did even worse on the second photo and cut off part of my nose as well. So, this may not be purrfect, but it’s the best you are going to get.

Lilly Olivia is the Sunday Selfies host for the last hop of 2017.

Mew Year’s Resolutions

This seems like the appropriate time to share our Mew Year’s Resolutions. Most of these are not new. We have shared them previously, but we are certain some of you have not seen them. And we made a few changes, as well as an addition, for 2017.

1. Get more scritches.
2. Get more belly rubs.
3. Get more treats and nip.
4. Always come when called unless napping, playing, eating, watching bird TV, day dreaming or participating in other cat-approved activities.
5. If in, demand to go out.
6. If out, demand to come in.
7. Refrain from washing our butts in front of company unless it is an emergency.
8. Refrain from eating Mom’s flowers when she’s watching.
9. Take up as much space in the humans’ bed as possible by sleeping east/west instead of north/south.
10. Clear the kitchen counters of all items whenever possible.
11. Pretend to be deaf whenever a human is speaking to us.
12. Always help Mom with her crossword puzzles, blogging and coloring.
13. Put our paws down and not allow Mom and Dad to adopt any additional kitties.

Time to Hop

TOO CLOSE?

Sunday Selfies: Week: #176

Sawyer's Christmas-themed selfie.

Here we are at Christmas Eve already. I’m not exactly certain what this holiday is all about; though, I do know gifts are involved. Kitties Blue have already gotten some from Mom and Dad that were too big to wrap. And we got some from Tom’s nephew, Chuck, and his family. Everything else we must wait until tomorrow to open.

Anyhoo, I volunteered to do the Christmas selfie. It does appear as if I might have gotten a little too close to the camera lens, but I am still learning.

We know everyone is super busy, but we sure are hoping some of our regulars will hop with us today. If you’d like to post a holiday-themed selfie that would be great.

Here’s some pointers on hopping with us if you need them.

  • The link to add your selfie to the hop is below.
  • You also will find below the code to use if you’d like the hop to appear on your blog.

Thanks for hopping. Wishing you a Meowy Christmas and Happy Mew Year.

Flashback: Christmas 2013

A few days ago we were reading a friend’s blog, Momma Kat and Her Bear Cat. Bear is a very cheeky snd somewhat egocentric cat, and he wrote his own “12 Days of Bear-mas.” This reminded us that somewhere in the archives was our own version of the this often parodied song, “The 12 Days of Christmas.” If you need a giggle or two, read on. Mauricio actually wrote this for Cat Scouts, when he was just a lowly Bobcat. We present this with apologies to our friends, Da Tabbies O Trout Towne.

REBELLION OF KITTIES BLUE

Sunday Selfies: #175

Kitties Blue are rebelling. (Pray for us that Santa Claws doesn’t find out!) We have collectively put down our paws and refused to host the blog hop. Week after week and year after year, one of us is here (with the exception of a few guest hosts). We told the mom if she couldn’t find a guest host for today’s post, she’d just have to do this herself.

So guess what? She accepted our challenge but said she was going to invite a guest to join her. So there is the twofur twofer we hinted at yesterday.

Kitties Blue and Kitties Kimmell moms.

Instead of cats today, we present two cat moms. You probably recognize our mom on the left. And we suspect most of you recognize the lady on the right as well. That is Teddy and Angel Sammy’s mom, Pam, from Two Spoiled Cats. On Thursday the two moms and two dads traveled about two hours each and met for lunch. According to Mom, the food was terrific, but the camaraderie and conversation was even better.

All Kitties Blue, except the non-stop play team of Cooper Murphy and Sawyer, are looking forward to an easy Sunday. We hope that is among your plans as well…of course, after you snap and post your selfie.

For anyone new to hopping or our blog hop, here are a few guidelines.

  • The link to add your selfie to the hop is below.
  • You also will find below the code to use if you’d like the hop to appear on your blog.
  • Posting on Sundays is not necessary to join.
  • You do not need to be a cat to enter. All anipals are welcome regardless of species.
  • The hop remains open for entries through Thursday midnight.
  • Please be so kind as to display our badge and/or link to The Cat on My Head.

Thanks for hopping.

MAURICIO’S SNOW-DAY SELFIE

Sunday Selfies; Week #174

We had our first snow of the season yesterday. Though it snowed most of the day, we only got about three inches. It was very pretty to watch coming down and looked great sprinkled on the trees and bushes like powdered sugar. In keeping with that theme, Mom has added a snow effect to our site and framed Mau’s selfie in a snow-themed frame.

Mau's Snow Day Selfie

Mau was thinking of his lovely wife Allie (Friends Furever) when he snapped this selfie. He has his paws crossed that she likes it.

A Shocking Discovery

Before we get down to the business of hopping, Mom asked us to share with you a surprising encounter she had yesterday. She went out to the front porch to retrieve a package and came face to face with a kitten, slightly larger than Sawyer. The kitten was solid grey and a Manx like Sawyer. It had on a frayed-looking pink color. The kitten bolted as soon as it saw Mom. It appears that Sawyer has a sibling. Where it is living and who put the collar on it is a mystery. Should Mom or Dad spot it again or if we find out any information about this kitty, we’ll share it.

Alrighty then…it is time to hop. We know everyone is busy with holiday preparations, but we are hoping you can take just a few moments to snap a selfie and join the hop. If you are new to hopping, here are a few tips.
