THE TOCK-TOBER SURROGATE

Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

Today we are participating in Sammy’s Thoroughly Poetic Thursday as well as celebrating Tock-tober*.

tocktober-2

Unfortunately this month’s prompt letter for our poem is an “S” and not a “T.” But never fear, we have combined a Tock-Tober post with an “s” prompt poem.

THE TOCK-TOBER SURROGATE

Today the blogospere celebrates Tock-tober.
It comes every year on the 20th of October.
The humans follow us around for weeks before
Trying to catch us with our buttocks off the floor.
But when we see the camera, we sit right down.
We will not show our rear ends all over town.
Even nommy treats won’t work as a bribe.
There are just certain things we’d rather hide.
So Kitty Blue booties you will not see;
Even though, we know you’d surely squeee.

Tock-Tober

The humans got a surrogate to do the flashing,
Giving us a reason for much teeth gnashing.
That damn cheeky squirrel readily agreed
To give the humans whatever they need.
He’ll wag his tail and wriggle his butt
For nothing more than his daily cut
Of all the sunflower seeds he can eat…
Not even asking for any additional treat.
We think this guy is nothing but one big showoff
Who, if we had our way, the humans would blow off.
No matter what this brazen fellow agreed to do,
We’d rather see him in a pot of squirrel stew.

Once again a damn squirrel is on our blog,
So we think we’ll give him the title of the blog hog.
Though he’ll have to wrestle Mau for this moniker,
We think he’ll agree the reason is totally clear:
The squirrel thinks our humans love him the most
And that he should be the subject of every post.
He doesn’t believe that Kitties Blue rule,
And he plans to use the humans as his personal tool
To get all the attention and acclaim he craves,
But he better watch out or we’ll send him to his grave!
So, this is our Tock-tober tale of woe
With just one thing we want you to know:
Kitties Blue won’t go down without a fight.
This is our blog and we know what is right.
But we won’t show you even one kitty ass
‘Cause we Kitties Blue have too much class!

Kitties Blue say NO MORE SQUIRRELS on their cat blog. Well, at least, not until next January’s Squirrel Appreciation Day.

HELLO KITTY & THE BIG BANG THEORY

Friendly-Fill-Ins: Week #18

FriendlyFillIns

Here’s this week’s fill-ins post and hop hosted by Annie (McGuffy’s Reader) and Ellen (15AndMeowing). You can enter a link to your fill-in post on Annie’s blog.

As usual, my completions for the fill-ins are in teal italics.

1. I can’t wait for the new season of Big Bang Theory on television. My favorite television shows have always been the ones that make me laugh, e.g., Frasier, Will & Grace.

fill-ins2. In my home a screen on the catio needs to be repaired where one of those cheeky squirrels chewed a hole in it a couple of years ago. It is currently repaired with Hello Kitty duct tape.

3.I thought I lost my passport a couple of years ago. I had to get a new one so we could go on vacation but

4.Once, I found my lost passport—about two years after I needed it!

So I cheated a bit and turned the last two fill-ins into a two-part fill-in. If I hadn’t used the passport, my answer was going to be, “I thought I lost my mind.” But then, if I had lost my mind, I wouldn’t be able to think, so that fill-in would just be blank.

We’ll be back tomorrow for Athena’s Caturday Art blog hop and then Sunday for our Selfies blog hop.

SELFISHNESS & SQUIRREL

Friendly Fill-Ins: Week 14

Our petretary has let us down. We have several things we need to post, but she is just too busy watching the Olympics to do our bidding. The only other things she has been doing is swimming and coloring. She hasn’t even been reading the two books to us we need to review. We think she is totally useless and selfish! MOUSES!

FriendlyFillIns

We had to take things into our own paws and do this post. First we need to do the Friendly Fill-Ins hosted by Mom Ellen at 15 And Meowing and Mom Annie at McGuffy’s Reader. We divided these up, and four of us got to fill-in one each.

1. Mauricio: My nickname is Mau. I think most of you know this. My humans never called me this. The name was given to me by my pal, Cat Scout Sushi, and it stuck. Everyone at Cat Scouts calls me Mau.

2. Fiona: The first thing I ever won was being adopted with my sisfur, Giulietta. Mom had only planned to adopt one kitty, but after selecting Giulietta she saw my sweet but sad face and knew she couldn’t leave me behind. I am so thankful as Giulietta and I are inseparable.

3. Calista Jo: I have never been to the BlogPaws Conference, but I hope to go in 2017.

4. Lily Olivia: Next year in February I will have my 18th birthday. I have no doubt I will be around to celebrate it. Two of our angels, Steamer and Louise, lived to be 17. Daphne made it to 19. I hope to at least tie her record.

Our completions of the fill-ins are the parts printed in teal italics.

This is a blog hop. You can add your link on Annie’s blog. We have linked to her blog above.

Now that we have completed that task, we have a photo to share. It was the view from our kitchen window this morning.

Squirrel sunning himself and waiting for turn at the bird feeder.

Can you believe this guy? What does he think this is? A resort. He was waiting for his turn at the bird feeder, but he wasn’t eating the seeds. He was bringing them back to the planters and burying them. And do you see how awful that coco fiber looks that lines the planter? This guy (girl?) stole all the missing fiber. We watched him one afternoon as he tore away mouthfuls and then scampered off to the big tree in our yard to build a nest. He came back again and again and totally destroyed that plant liner.

The critters who inhabit our yard are so cheeky. One of those marmots was busily scarfing up sunflower seeds of the ground while Mom was swimming. When dad walked by him to get in the pool, he just kept munching away. See what we mean? Totally cocky critters!

So that’s it from us for today. If we can tear the petretary away from her preposterous pursuits, we’ll be back tomorrow with some Caturday Art.

Wordless Wednesday at Create With Joy

As reported earlier, Cat Scout Mau has entered the Cardwood Derby with his Cat Scout University security vehicle. We haven’t been promoting, but he could use your votes to to get in the derby finals. If you are so inclined, you can vote for him here. Several voting categories exist. Mau is listed in each category. Here are the photos of his car. Voting ends tonight at midnight.

SNOW DAY SQUIRREL ART

It started snowing at about dawn yesterday morning and snowed all day. We were covered by 11.5 inches at bedtime last night. It’s supposed to continue until midnight tonight.

Our dad’s current project for one of the photo clubs to which he belongs is snow photos. He usually takes lots of photos when it snows, but this time he really concentrated on quality and not quantity. After all his hard work, we cannot believe that Mom is messing with the photos for our Caturday Art submission to Athena and Marie’s Blog Hop. But mess she did using PicMonkey.

Snow Day with squirrel

Mom started with a squirrel in the snow photo as she was upset we missed Squirrel Appreciation Day on the 21st. Atop that is an overlay of two snowflakes. The frame was added using PicMonkey as well.

Here are the two original photos.

To enter the blog hop and/or view the other submissions, click on Athena and Marie’s badge.

Cat4-001We don’t really like the snow, so you won’t see any white stuff around whoever hosts our Sunday Selfies Blog Hop tomorrow. None of us have stepped forward to volunteer so, as always, you’ll have to stop by to view our representative. We are going to try to visit more of last week’s participants tomorrow as we know our typist won’t be leaving the house.

If you are in the area of our country being pummeled by snow, as we are, please stay safe and warm inside. Grab a good book, a cup of hot chocolate, a cat or two, an afghan, put you feet up and relax.
