LISBETH DOES A WITCHY SELFIE ON NATIONAL CAT DAY

Sunday Selfies: Week #168

My humans say I can be a little bitchy, er witchy! I do have a tendency to be hissy and growly when others get in my way. Because of this and the fact that Halloween is now just two days away, Mom couldn’t keep her paws off of my very lovely selfie. Pffft!

Lisbeth celebrates National Cat Day and Halloween.

To add insult to posting me in a witch’s had, I heard a rumor about a rude and unflattering thing Astrid said about me in her post yesterday. If anyone knows what that was, please let me know in the comments. Other than spilling their guts that it happened, no-one will tell me what she said.

Enough about Astrid. She’s not worth my time.

National Cat Day – USA

Today is National Cat Day, which is celebrated each year on October 29. It was created in 2005 by Colleen Paige, Pet Lifestyle Expert and Animal Welfare Advocate. Since its inception, National Cat Day has helped save the lives of more than one million cats.

Paige established this day in an effort to assist the public in recognizing the number of cats needing to be rescued. Additionally, the day encourages cat lovers to celebrate the cat(s) in their lives for their companionship and the unconditional love they willingly give.

The National Cat Day web-site lists 20 things we can do today to celebrate and help kitties. I’ll be spending extra time today snuggling with and giving all the Kitties Blue special attention and love. As we have a full house and cannot add any kitties to the family, I’ll be sending a donation to our favorite rescue, Barn Cat Buddies.

In conjunction with #NationalCatDay, BLUE BUFFALO is sponsoring the “Purr-fect Purr-sonalities” PHOTO CONTEST. You have until 11:59 pm (ET) tonight to enter. Winners will be notified by November 11th and announced on social media when all winners have responded.

To enter, log onto Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter and include #BlueBuffalo and #NationalCatDay with your uploaded image of your cat, depicting their best PURRsonality trait.  Photo must be of your own cat. Once a photo is submitted, it cannot be changed or modified. To purrticipate, you must live in the 50 United States, the District of Columbia or Canada. You must be at least 18 years old at the time of entry.

Three “PURRfect PURRsonalities” winners may be featured on the Blue Buffalo Facebook page and will receive an assortment of Blue Buffalo products, Blue Gear and National Cat Day Gear.

Blog Hop

I cannot think of a better day to purrticipate in our Sunday Selfies blog than National Cat Day. And don’t forget to ask for some of your favorite treats as a reward for taking your selfie and in celebration of this special day. Also invite your friends to join us. The more the merrier.

Of course, you don’t need to be a cat to join in the fun. All anipals are welcome and encouraged to join the hop. If you are new to hopping, here are some guidelines:

  • The link to add your selfie to the hop is below.
  • You also will find below the code to use if you’d like the hop to appear on your blog.
  • You do not need to post on Sundays to join.
  • The hop remains open for entries through Thursday midnight.
  • Please be so kind as to display our badge and/or link to The Cat on My Head.

With purrs and paw-pats, Lisbeth (with kisses for my sweet boyfriend Charles)

p.s. Please join us tomorrow for Mom’s review of Jackson Galaxy’s new book, Total Cat Mojo, and leave a comment for the opportunity to win a copy.

The day is sponsored by the Animal Miracle Foundation.

Additionally, the day encourages cat lovers to celebrate the cats in their lives for their companionship and the unconditional love they give.

The National Cat Day web-site lists 20 things we can do today to celebrate and help kitties. I intend to wear my cat ears and one of my many cat t-shirts and spend extra time giving all the kitties special attention and love…as if they’d let me do anything else.  We are supposed to have very warm weather (80 degrees F), so I’ll be able to enjoy the day on the catio with Kitties Blue. As we have a full house and cannot add any kitties to the family, I’ll be sending a donation to our favorite rescue, Barn Cat Buddies.

I will be using #NationalCatDay to post on social media and encourage all our cat blogging friends to do the same.

Caturday Art

For today’s Halloween-themed art, I used an older photo of Astrid.

Astrid's #NationalCatDay art.

caturdayartbannerTo create the art, I used LunaPic to add the Halloween effect, “dark.” I loved the ethereal effect, but wanted Astrid’s eyes to standout so colored them using PicMonkey and then added the frame using piZap. I should have removed those two cabinet handles from above her head, but I didn’t really notice how bad they looked until I had completed the project.

This is our entry in Athena Cat Goddess Wise Kitty’s Caturday Art Blog Hop. To view the other submissions and/or enter some art of your own, click on Athena’s badge.

Sunday Selfies

Cat4-001With Halloween almost here, Kitties Blue are going to take advantage of another opportunity to do something special for tomorrow’s selfie. They haven’t shared with me who will be doing the selfie and in what direction they are going with the design…creepy, cute, zombified, vampirish…

Of course, to participate, you do not need to do anything theme-based. And remember, all anipals are welcome to join the hop. Please invite all your friends to join us. As the saying goes, “The more the scarier merrier”

p.s. I will share my macaroni and cheese recipe tomorrow. It is from scratch but super quick and easy!

CONJOINED CATS ON NATIONAL CAT DAY*

I don’t know what it is with Astrid, but she just will not leave me alone. Whenever I try to curl up and nap, she’s right on me. The only way I can avoid her is to curl up with one of my other sisfurs. But then I am still having to share. And I don’t like to share. I’m a big guy, and I like my own space. I don’t want to be conjoined to anybody except maybe my mom or dad.

Mom thought we were so adorable with our mirror-image paw placement. As you can see, I am less than pleased with the situation. Astrid is the proverbial clinging vine, and if she’s not all over me, she’s in Mom’s lap. I guess I should count myself lucky that Astrid doesn’t knead me like she does Mom. Mom’s thighs look as if she uses them for pincushions. She is a total pushover when it comes to that cat!

*According to Wikipedia, National Cat Day was first celebrated in 2005. It takes place each October 29 in the U.S. It was founded by animal welfare advocate Colleen Paige “to help galvanize the public to recognize the number of cats that need to be rescued each year and also to encourage cat lovers to celebrate the cat(s) in their life for the unconditional love and companionship they bestow upon us.”

And what better way to follow up today’s celebration of National Cat Day than with the special post Mom has hinted about during the past view weeks. So please join us tomorrow for:

AN INTERVIEW WITH CAT BEHAVIORIST AND TV PERSONALITY JACKSON GALAXY!

We’ll have information about The Jackson Galaxy Foundation and his and Kate Benjamin’s new book, Catify to Satisfy. Galaxy will share what he thinks we all can do to help kitties as well as what he thinks gives him the ability to connect meaningfully with both cats and their guardians.

All the Kitties Blue think this is a post you won’t want to miss. So…see you tomorrow.

Purrs and paw-pats, Mauricio
