Mother’s Day

SPECIAL MOTHER’S DAY SELFIES & POEM

Sunday Selfies: Week #144

Today we are sharing a special photo. It’s not a true selfie, but it includes two extra special moms. That’s Angel Sammy and Teddy’s mom, Pam, from Two Spoiled Cats on the left and our mom, Janet, on the right. Included are flat Cat Scouts, Sammy and Mau.

We also wanted to include two other special moms. On the left is Mau’s wife Allie’s mom, Sharon, from Friends Furever. On the right is our mom again with Astrid’s husband Sampy’s mom, Emily, from Kitty Cat Chronicles.

We love these special moms and send them, as well as the moms of all our friends, our best wishes for a day filled with sunshine, joy and love. Mau wrote this poem a couple of years ago, and asked if he could share it again today.

Mau’s Mother’s Day Poem

My mom is patient.
My mom is kind.
My mom loves me,
Even when I don’t mind.

My mom feeds me.
My mom gives me treats.
She rubs my belly,
And she kisses my feets.

My mom thinks only of me
When she helps me with Scouts,
And she doesn’t get mad,
Even when I pouts.

I love you Mom.
What more can I say?
You are the bestest mom
Each and everyday.

MOTHER’S DAY SUNDAY SELFIES

For our special Mother’s Day Sunday Selfies Blog Hop, we have another guest host and her two offspring. We’d like to introduce you to Edith XXXV.

Most every spring one or two birds will build or reuse previously built nests in our carport. This year we have two robin mothers and now babies as well. We couldn’t think of anything more appropriate to celebrate Mother’s Day than to share their photos with you.

Mother's Day

In addition to the photos, we want to share the story of the original Edith and why we are calling this Edith XXXV. Many, many years in the past (approximately 35) our humans adopted a robin that had been injured by a dog and couldn’t fly. The robin would scamper around the house peeping constantly. She reminded Mom and Dad of Edith Bunker from All in the Family.

Edith was a mischief maker extraordinaire. She would sit atop the kitchen cabinets and dive bomb guests who had no idea she was there. Mom was an avid cross-stitcher at the time, and Edith would try to steal and swallow the floss. She had lots of other quirky traits as well.

After Edith was healed, the humans tried to release her, but she didn’t want to leave. Dad built a shelf for her and attached it to the front of the house. When Edith was let outside, she would fly around and explore but eventually come back to her shelf before coming back inside the house. After a few weeks of doing this, she flew into some trees across the street and did not return.

Now every spring, at least one robin is given the name Edith!

We look forward to seeing all your selfies, especially any special Mother’s Day selfies. You can add the link to your post below. If you have trouble entering your link, leave us a Comment and our Mom will do it for you. Finally, if you would like to display the blog hop submissions on your blog, please be kind and display our badge and/or link back to The Cat on My Head.

Wishing our mom and all the moms and others who act as moms, a Happy Mother’s Day filled with lots of love.
