SCARED OR SCARY?

Caturday Art

Caturday Art with Mau and burning filament in a scary hop submission.

Do you think I look scary or scared?

This is probably one of Mom’s most uncomplicated art creations to date. She selected a photo of me from last weekend’s selfie photo shoot and used PicMonkey to overlay a photo Dad took. Then she added a border with piZap and a frame with Picasa.

Here’s the photo she used for the overlay. It is a burning filament in a broken light bulb.

caturdayartbannerThis is our entry in Athena Cat Goddess Wise Kitty’s Caturday Art blog hop. We enter a few hops each week, but this is Mom’s very favorite. If you haven’t tried it yet, what are you waiting for? With all the holidays coming up, we can’t think of a better time to try out your creativity. To get the links to the other hop submissions and/or add one of your, click on Athena’s badge.

Thank You

Fiona asked me to convey her sincerest thanks for the kind and supportive comments on yesterday’s post, especially, Sammy‘s. We know that without all the purrs, prayers, good thoughts, POTP and friendship, the past ten months since her diagnosis of CKD would have been much more difficult for her and our humans. She is a fighter, and we are fairly certain she’ll do all she can to stay with us as long as possible.

Sunday Selfies

Cat4-001Tomorrow is that day of the week when we all try to put on our best expressions and snap a selfie for our blog hop. We will have a guest host tomorrow. It’s a super cute one, but that’s the only hint you get. Hope lots and lots of you will join us tomorrow and invite your friends to hop as well.

Until tomorrow, this is Mauricio signing off with purrs and paw-pats for all and love and smooches for my sweet wife, Allie.

ZOMBIES IN LOVE

Sunday Selfies: Week #113

It doesn’t happen too often that one of us actually requests to do the Sunday Selfie, but today, I did just that. I wanted to do something for my sweet wife to brighten her day. Allie, Raz, Ellie, (Friends Furever) Mom Sharon and Dad Bill had to evacuate their home due to the threat of Hurricane Matthew. Though the expected storm surge did not materialize, and they are already back home, they are without power or cell service. And they do have some outdoor clean-up to do.

I pray this selfie will cheer her and that someone has the smelling salts close by. Allie usually faints when she sees my photo. She is such a sweet and delicate lady.

For a bit of fun, I am sharing an additional photo today. We are having our monthly Birthday/ Gotcha Day celebration today at Cat Scouts. Each month we have a different theme for the party. This month as a tribute to Halloween, our theme is zombies. My mom made costumes for Allie and me. (For those of you who don’t know, I have a Bake Shop at Cat Scouts, which is why I am a zombie baker.) Cat Scout Gracie added us to the scary background.

Did we scare you?

Cat4-001Now it is your turn to share your selfie with us. The link to add your photo is below. All anipals are always welcome, and I invite you to gather all your friends and encourage them to join us. Selfies are fun and you can make them as plain, fancy or scary as you like. If you’d like to include your human or even a zombie or witch in your selfie, go for it.

If you’d like to add the hop to your blog, the code is below. If you could please add our badge to your post and/or link back to The Cat on My Head, I won’t have to send any Cat Scout zombies to your house to frighten you and eat your brain.

Boos and paw-pats, Mauricio

I BELIEVE IN ANGELS

Friendly Fill-Ins

FriendlyFillIns

We are back for another week of Friendly Fill-ins hosted by our friends, Annie (McGuffy’s Reader) and Ellen (15AndMeowing). Each week th select two statements each (Ellen #s 1 and 2 and Annie #s 3 and 4) for us to complete. This is a blog hop. If you decide to participate, enter the link to your post on Annie’s blog.

Here are this week’s statements. My completions are in teal italics.

1. My favorite store is Steinmart; though, I haven’t been there in at least a year. Iprefer to shop on-line and have items delivered to my door.

2. An unanswered prayer I am thankful for is _______________________. (I have nothing to complete this fill-in and so am skipping it. I am sure I have many unanswered pryers, but I cannot think of any that would work here.)

3. At Halloween, I get annoyed when teenagers show up and stand on the porch holding out a bag, not say anything and expecting me to give them candy.

4. I totally believe in the supernatural, because once I met an angel. His name was Michael. I had a flat tire and saw what appeared to be a homeless man walking toward me. He asked if he could help. I could have called AAA, but instead I said, “yes.” It was Tom’s car, and I wasn’t really sure what to do nor was he. I read the instructions to him from the Owner’s Manual while he changed the tire. When he finished, I offered him money (the $7 I had in my purse), but he refused. I then offered him a ride, and he refused that as well. As he started to walk away, I said to him, “You are an angel.” He replied over his shoulder, “Don’t tell anyone.” I turned my back to him and took two steps before deciding to turn back around. He had totally vanished. Whenever I tell this story I get goosebumps.

My sweet and handsome angel Madison also approached me one day when I was working in the garden.

I believe in angels.

Hurricane Matthew

Please keep Mau’s wife, Allie, and her family (Friends Furever) in your purrs and prayers. They have evacuated their home on Florida’s Barrier Island. They should be safe but their home may be devastated by storm surges. We know other bloggers and friends live in Florida as well. We are keeping them and all those living along the east coast in our thoughts and prayers.

HALLOWEEN HIJINX WITH KITTIES BLUE

All of us competed in the Funniest Costume Contest at the Sam-o-Ween Haunted House Pawty at onespoiledcat. Only Lily Olivia, Mauricio and Misty May entered last year’s contest. The remainder of us are quite excited to join in this year’s fun. Mauricio and Misty May are wearing their costumes as Mickey and Minnie Mouse from last year. Mom said she didn’t have enough time to “make” new costumes for them. In our opinion, it is darn funny for kitties to masquerade as mice. We doubt we won anything in the contest, but that’s okay. We had fun showing our playful sides without having to don any real clothing. Besides, who can compete with the likes of a Mr. Potato Head cat, Barbie cat or Tootsie Roll cat (our honorary sisfur Nylablue).

Hope you get a chuckle out of our Halloween HiJinx!

NATIONAL BLACK CAT DAY

National Cat Day in the USA was yesterday, October 29, and today is National Black Cat Day in the UK. We think everyday is Cat Day whether it is celebrated nationally or internationally, but Mom decided to pawticipate in this Black Cat Day being as it is the day before Hall-o-ween. And one of the most recognizable images at Hall-o-ween is the black cat! Besides, she loves the mini-panfurs!

Thelma black cat

Thelma

Our humans had two black cats before we came to live with them. Thelma (Mom’s very first heart cat!) and Twinkle were both off-spring of the neighborhood stray who our humans called, “Mom.” Twinkle was the only kitten who got away when the neighbors caught Mom and her kittens and took them to the SPCA. Mom and Dad were away on vacation when this happened and found out too late to get them out of jail before they were euthanized.

twinkle black cat

Twinkle

Our mom and dad tried to trap Mom on several occasions to have her spayed but were never successful. Two other of her offspring were part of our household. Daphne and Thelma’s sisfur, Louise. Even though our mom wanted to keep some of the other kittens, particularly Skippy, Teddy and Alex, good homes were found for them and all the kittens from Mom’s litters.

Though today is Black Cat Day in the UK, many shelters and rescues in the U.S. will not allow black cat adoptions this week or sometimes for the entire month of October due to Hall-o-ween and mean people who might hurt these special kitties. But if you are in search of a new kitty, purrlease consider an older black kitty who may have been languishing in a shelter for quite sometime. They are consiered the least adoptable cats, but they are just as sweet, loving and adorable as any other kitty. Look at these faces of Thelma and Twinkle. What’s not to love?

Whatever color or breed of cat lives with you, purrlease be extra careful to protect them during Hall-o-ween. If you do allow them to go outside, consider not doing so at all tomorrow. At the very least, make certain they are in the house well before dark and have a place to chill-out away from the noise of the doorbell and squeals of the trick-or-treaters. A couple of us are super curious and want to see what the commotion is about. But most of us scatter as soon as the doorbell sounds. If the weather is warm, our humans sit on the front porch to hand out candy so we won’t be subjected to the hubbub and confusion. We won’t have to worry about all the racket this year. With Mom at Bark/Meow World, we won’t be participating in Hall-o-ween; though, we are praying cat sitter, Chris, will bring us a catnip treat like she usually does.

Stop by tomorrow to see us in our Hall-o-ween costumes. But most importantly, stay safe!

Purrs & paw-pats, Kitties Blue

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

We want to share this year’s costumes with you. But first, we apologize for any trouble you might have had visiting us yesterday. WestHosts, where our blog is housed, was hacked again yesterday. All accounts were suspended for about six hours. That shut-down included our e-mail. We are sorry for any inconvenience if you tried to visit.

Now, without further ado, we present to you: Halloween 2013.
