Friendly Friday Fill-Ins

HERE BIRDY, BIRDY, BIRDY!

Friendly Fill-Ins: Week 13

FriendlyFillInsDad got a few new photos of me yesterday, which is quite unusual. I don’t hang around looking for attention like some of my pathetic housemates. I wait until bedtime and then I maul, nuzzle, cuddle, snuggle, sleep upon, head butt and monopolize the humans. That means a majority of my photos are taken while my eyes are closed. So yesterday’s haul of three photos was a bonanza. Mom is only letting me share one as she says they will probably need to last for quite a while.

Here Birdy, Birdy, Birdy. I just want to talk to you!

Mom is also letting me do the Friendly Fill-Ins (hosted by Annie at McGuffy’s Reader and Ellen at 15 And Meowing) today. My sentence completions are in teal italics.

1. I am most proud of being THE Cat on My Head and being seen on the blog everyday as part of our logo.

2. I am embarrassed to admit I like to catch birdies. Please don’t chastise me or my mom. We both know it is wrong. I am in a 12-Step Program to help me get this addiction under control.

3. My super-power(s) might be stealthly sneaking up on birdies (even though my collar has a bell) as well as terrorizing Astrid. Mom says that I am a bully for picking on Astrid, but I just think it is fun hearing her squeal. She is such a little baby.

4. I really wish I could be an only cat. I don’t understand why MY humans think they need any of these other cats, including my brofur, Mauricio. In my opinion they are just total wastes of cat fur.

Don’t judge me if you don’t like my answers. I know that most of you would want to be only cats given the opportunity and probably aren’t always nice to your furblings.

Mom says that we’ll be back tomorrow to share some Caturday Art with you.

FRIENDLY FILL-INS & WEDDING INVITATION

Friendly Fill-Ins Week 11

Mauricio asked to do the fill-ins this week as Saturday is a special day for him: He and Allie (Friends Furever) will be married.

1. I wish I could afford to hire someone to fly me to Florida to be with my beloved (soon to be wife) Allie.
2. Zucchini is not something Allie and I will be serving at our wedding reception.
3. One Summertime memory I recall is the riverboat trip Allie and I took with Cat Scouts on August 11, 2014.  (Mau has included a photo from that trip as well as a ballad he wrote for the occasion.  He thought some of you who were not following us then would be interested.)
4. This Summer, (tomorrow to be exact) I am marrying the love of my life, Allie.

This is a blog hop hosted by Mom Ellen from 15AndMeowing and Mom Annie from McGuffy’s Reader. You can enter the hop on Annie’s blog.

Allie Scarlett and MAUverick reminisce prior to their wedding.

The Legend of MAUverick

This is the story of a purrported gunslinger and cardshark, MAUverick, and his beautiful and genteel girlfriend, Allie Scarlett. (She is not related to Austin Scarlett of Project Runway Fame but legend has it that all her gowns were designed by a distant relative named Miss Melanie. They were all hand-sewn by mice seamstresses.)

Getting back on track…legend has it that MAUverick could shoot the center heart out of the Ace of Hearts at a hundred paces. No photographic proof exists, so it remains a legend. All reports say, however, that he never  drew his gun on any human or cat as he was a peace loving man-cat.

Before meeting Allie Scarlett, MAUverick traveled the Mississippi River on the paddle-wheeled boats playing poker and telling stories about his time in the Old West. Rumor abounds that MAUverick used to keep an ace or two up his sleeve, but this has never been proved. And it is known that he was not a cat of great wealth. Any money he won at cards was always donated to a worthy cat shelter of which there were many along the Mississippi.

Once he met the beautiful and charming Miss Allie Scarlett, he gave up his wandering ways. They settled in a modest cottage in New Orleans where they ran a kitty refuge and tended a garden of cat nip in their spare time. They were said to have lived happily ever after, well into old age, never letting a day go by without holding paws and sharing tender kisses.

The End

Inviting All Cat Scouts

Mau and Allie are inviting all Cat Scouts to their wedding. If you are a Scout but haven’t visited in a while, Cat Scouts has an all new and exciting look. Even if you are unable to attend the wedding, you need to go by and have a look. If you do want to attend the wedding, you must message either Denmother or Allie through Scout e-mail.

THANK YOU FROM FIONA & FRIENDLY FILL-INS

Dearest Friends,

Thank you so much for your kind words, purrs, prayers and POTP yesterday. And thank you to those who sent e-mails to Mom with suggestions for my care and treatment. Mom has been investigating other medications, including herbal ones and is aware of Tanya’s Guide to Feline CKD. Some of you mentioned an alternative appetite stimulant, cyproheptadine, and Mom has already decided to purchase and try it.

I didn’t eat my foods very well today, but I ate more treats than I have in a while. Mom has been putting a little nip with them as I really like that, and then I will eat most of the treats. She’s thinking of trying a bit on my foodables as well. Does anybody know of any reason she shouldn’t do that?

FriendlyFillInsAs I am here again today, I get to do the Friendly Friday Fill-ins, hosted by Mom Ellen at 15AndMeowing and Mom Annie at McGuffy’s Reader. My fill-ins are in teal italics.

1. I prefer treats to the special noms for kidney disease.
2. Taking my CKD meds was much harder than I expected.
3. One way that I relax is by snoozing in the new pink cube.
Fiona says Thank You and completes Friendly Fill-Ins.

I was sleeping peacefully in the cube when Dad got me out to take my meds. When I came back, Mauricio had snuck in. I am not happy about that!

4. Sitting in either Mom’s or Dad’s lap  always makes me happy.

FILL-INS, A POEM & CATNIP

This is week number eight for the Friendly Friday Fill-Ins hosted by Ellen (15 and Meowing) and Annie (McGuffy’s Reader). This is a blog hop. You can enter your link on Annie’s blog.
My fill-ins are in teal italics.

1. I never thought I would miss writing and sending snail-mail letters, but I do.
2. Every 4th of July we watch the fireworks from our upper deck while the kitties stay inside.
3. If I knew blogging about the kitties would become my passion, I would have started long before 2012.
4. I have trouble with my attention span and completing one project prior to moving on to another.

FriendlyFillIns

Phooey, we missed writing a poem yesterday for Sammy’s Thoroughly Poetic Thursday. It’s week number three and the letter of the day was “C.  As Calista Jo wrote our Thursday post and mentioned Catnip, I imagine this is what she would have written.

Catnip Crazies by Calista Jo

Catnip is fine.
Catnip is good.
It gives me a buzz
Under my hood.
I love to sniff it
And roll in it all day,
But eating it is what
Makes me want to play.
I get frisky and crazy
And bounce all around,
Until I fall over
And collapse in a mound.

C.J. may have written the poem, but Lily Olivia is sharing her post roll-in-the-nip photo.

BLACK CAT FRIENDLY FRIDAY FILL-INS

Friendly Fill-Ins

FriendlyFillInsI am pawticipaing in today’s Friendly Friday Fill-Ins and using them (except #2) as a way to purrmote Layla Morgan Wilde’s (Cat Wisdom 101) Kickstarter campaign to raise the funds to publish her new book Black Cats Tell: True Tales By 22 Amazing Cats. You can read more about this below.

My fill-ins are in teal italics.

1. The best brand of cat is a black cat.
2. I refuse to buy clothing unless there is a sale or a coupon.
3. I am inspired by black cats.
4. Whenever I see a black cat, I fall in love.

One of the most special cats I ever loved was a gentle and sweet black panfur, Thelma. She left us suddenly and too soon at age 12. She was my first “heart” cat. You can read more about her here.

New Book from CatWisdom 101 Author

Black Cat Kickstarter CampaignFrom Layla’s blog: This is the first non-profit anthology of myth-busting, true stories by 22 amazing, BLACK CATS to raise shelter adoption rates. Humor and entertaining stories can chip away at preferences and prejudice. That’s the idea behind Black Cats Tell: True Tales By 22 Amazing Cats. By simply sharing positive stories told from the cats’ perspective, opinions about them can change.

From famous cats to the cat next door, these real cats tell it like it is. Their funny, surprising and entertaining tales aim to shift the perception of black cats and in turn increase their adoption rate.

It’s so simple and yet there are no books like this, yet.

FILL-INS AND BLOOPERS

FriendlyFillInsOne of us Kitties Blue was supposed to do the Friendly Friday Fill-Ins this week, but they really weren’t conducive to being completed by a cat. So Mom completed them; though, she didn’t do that well with it. She wasn’t even able to complete number one. Mom’s fill-ins are in italics and teal ink.

1. I used to love to eat                      , but now it  repulses me. (I cannot think of anything I once liked but would no longer eat.)
2. I would never eat shrimp, but now I love it.
3. I always cry when one of our blogging friends loses a furry family member.
4. The Big Bang Theory always makes me laugh; though, I have seen all the episodes numerous times.

Friendly Fill-Ins are hosted by 15 And Meowing and McGuffy’s Reader. It is a blog hop, and you can enter your link on the McGuffy’s Reader blog.

pet blogger bloopers badgeSince our mom feels she failed at the fill-ins task, we also are purrtcipating in The Lazy Pit Bull’s Pet Bloggers Blooper Round-Up Blog Hop! Wow, that’s a mouthful. It’s a good thing none of us have a lisp.

Our bloopers are from the photo shoot featuring Mauricio and Lily Oliva with the crocheted toys Mau received from the Tooth Fairy (Mom Ellen from 15 And Meowing). Mom was trying to get a photo of him with his head in the package, but Mauricio kept pushing the envelope off the counter. These two off-center, fuzzy photos were the best she could do. Naturally they didn’t make the cut for the original post, Tooth Fairy Delivers.

1stcommentWe are so excited to announce that once again we were the first to comment on Sammy’s (onespoiledcat) Tuesday Teaser post. We had absolutely no idea where the Teaser photo was taken, but this was our second First Commentor Award in the last few weeks. We may be geographically impaired, but we are persistent in refreshing our screen until the Teaser Blog goes live. We think tenacity is an impawtant quality for cats to have. It pays off when begging for treats or attention!

So that’s it for us today. We’ll see you tomorrow for the Caturday Art Blog Hop.

FRIENDLY FRIDAY FILL-INS

Today I am participating in the Friendly Fill-Ins hosted each Friday by Ellen from 15 And Meowing and Annie from McGuffy’s Reader. I have been wanting to do this for a few weeks but could never think of anything to share for my part of the fill-in.

Some of those who have been doing this have the sentences completed by their furry companion(s), and I may do that in the future as well. However, these are my answers for this week.

ellen_cat_badge_2

Ellen created the first two fill-ins and Annie the last two. My responses are in bold print.

1. The best money I ever spent was for my pool/spa as my 65th birthday present to myselfand the worst was for a perm that had Tom calling me poodle head.

2. My most memorable vacation was with Tom (at) on a riverboat cruise through Russia in 2011.

3. It hurts my heart when I lose a friend, no matter the reason.

Janet & Jellybean-001 - Friendly4. Once, I raised a wild baby bunny after it’s mom was hit and killed by a car. I named it Jelly Bean. When it was old enough we released it on the hill behind our house, which was covered in dense vegetation. We watched him eat his way down the hill.

National Doughnut Day

Held annually on the first Friday of June, Doughnut Day was established by The Salvation Army in 1938. The intention was to honor The Salvation Army’s “Doughnut Lassies,” who served the treats to soldiers during World War I. The “Doughnut Lassies” are often credited with popularizing the doughnut in the United States when the troops returned home from war.
Wishing you a sweet and yummy day.
