TABBY TUESDAY WITH MEMES

Tabby Tummy Tuesday with Cooper Murphy

Wow, had I’d known that I was going to be maligned in such a cruel and insensitive manner, I am not certain I would have selected Kitties Blue to be my furmily. Well, it isn’t really Kitties Blue that are the problem. It’s the humans. First Dad Tom took this photo of me, and then the petretary turned it into two memes. Check these out for yourselves. As you can see, I was merely trying to air out my belly furs on a warm day.

memes - I'm not fat!

memes - I am not indiscreet.

No kitty should be treated with such disrespect, and especially not one with a cute heart right on his belly. My humans should delight in my sharing that with them.

The petretary wants me to ask you to tell us in comments which of these memes you like best. If you are my friend, you will tell her, “neither.” Please stick up for this itty-bitty, tabby boy. And if possible, please send treats. I am fairly certain I won’t be getting any from my humans in the near future.

Other News

Last week for Thoroughly Poetic Thursday Mom wrote another poem, “Yesterday,” about our angel sisfur, Fiona. She asked if she should add that poem to the sidebar. Those who responded said, “yes.” She added it yesterday, along with a new badge for Fiona and a statement about our blog being dedicated to her memory. This has brought Mom some comfort and peace. She has decided that this will remain as a permanent part of our blog. We hope you won’t mind seeing this each time you visit.

Thanks for stopping by to see me.

THE GREY ANGEL AND THE GINGER CLOWN

Friendly Fill-Ins: Week #50

FriendlyFillIns

I was feeling lazy and almost decided to skip the fill-ins today, but I didn’t want to let down our hosts, Annie (McGuffy’s Reader) and Ellen (15 And Meowing). Annie and Ellen each select two incomplete sentences for us to complete on Fridays. This is a blog hop and an excellent way to learn more about your fellow bloggers. If you haven’t joined in yet, I hope you will consider doing so in the future. To join the hop, click on the badge above.

As they are every week, my completions are in teal italics.

1. The most interesting museum I have been to is: I could never pick just one. Some of my favorites are: Musée D’Orsay (Paris), Uffizi Gallery, (Florence), Cairo Museum, The Hermitage (St. Petersburg, Russia)

2. The most interesting historical place I have been to is The Church of the Nativity, Bethlehem.

3. Round-Up time is back! Dr. Neel comes to the house today to give Kitties Blue their annual exams, weigh-ins (Cooper should be happy he’s not included) and vaccinations.

4. I was surprised to have a new member (Cooper Murphy) join the Kitties Blue family only five weeks after Fiona got her wings.  I know my angel brought this homeless, ginger clown to us to put a smile back on our faces. I grieve for my beautiful angel everyday, but gladly give Cooper all the love and care he deserves.

A ROAMING POEM AND TABCAT SAFE & FOUND

Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

screen-shot-2016-08-31-at-8-45-29-pm

As we always do, we are participating in Angel  Sammy’s Thoroughly Poetic Thursday (Two Spoiled Cats). This week the challenge letter is “R.” Mauricio, as he often does, wrote this week’s poem. To read or find links to other “R” poems, click on the badge above.

The Roaming Cat

My name is Mauricio, and I like to roam around.
I am the sheriff and guardian of this here town.
This is my neighborhood and you best not forget it.
‘Cause if you do, you soon will regret it.
When you least expect it, I’ll hunt you down,
Grab you and wrestle you to the ground.
Then I’ll bite you and smack you so hard
Your teeth will fly out right into the yard.
I’ve been around these parts for 13 years,
And I’ll tell you right now I have no peers.
If you enter my yard you shouldn’t be braggin’,
Or you’ll find yourself in my hooligan wagon.
And I’ll haul you away to parts unknown
So you’ll never be able to find your way home.
My name is Mauricio, and I like to roam about.
I am always prepared. I am a Cat Scout.
So take this message as a fair warning.
You’re not wanted here be it night or morning.

Okay, at age 13, I really don’t roam around much anymore. Mostly I stick to the yard and the front porch on one of the rockers. And even in my youth, I didn’t go anywhere but in the neighbors’ yards, around the block, in the alley and across the street to bug Lily Olivia, who would sleep on the neighbor’s porch to get away from me.

But, I wanted to tell you about a really cool product, and I thought my poem would make a good lead-in. It is called a Tabcat Safe & Found by Loc8tor, and you can see it on my collar in this photo.

Tabcat

What you are looking at is a flexible silicon disc that slips onto my collar. The Tabcat is inside. It is so light weight (.2 ounces), I don’t even know I have it on, which is great as I wear my collar 24/7.

So you are probably wondering what a Tabcat Safe a& Found does. The following is from the Tabcat website:

Tabcat is the revolutionary tracking device that lets you find your missing pet. Attaching easily to your cat’s collar, the device is lightweight yet robust enough to stay on whatever they get up to.

With an astonishing degree of accuracy it will guide you to within one inch of your cat’s location. Because it has no ongoing cost, the Tabcat tracker is more effective and affordable than GPS or other similar locating systems.

The dual directional handset picks up the signal from the tag on your cat’s collar and then tells you which way to walk to find them.

A single red light tells you that you’re in range. Then as you walk in the right direction and get closer, the lights go to amber and then green guiding you right to your cat.

The Tabcat Safe & Found will help locate me within 400 feet of the handset. The handset can find me in the house or if I have wandered from the yard. It’s perfect for outdoor or even indoor cats. If you have a cat who takes any opportunity to sprint out the door if left open, you need the Tabcat Safe & Found. (Tabcat is not meant to replace a microchip or collar I.D. tag.)

TabcatThe Tabcat comes with the handheld locator device that can track up to four cats. Also included are two water-resistant Tabcat trackers with batteries and cases for attaching to your cat’s collar. A set of two additional trackers can be purchased separately. (Unfortunately for us, one of the Tabcat devices was not operational, even after we installed a new battery. Had it been, Misty May would have it on her collar.)

The Tabcat Safe & Found is manufactured in the U.K. and can be purchased directly from their web-site. It is also available on Amazon.com.

To learn how you can train your cat to come home on demand or to read testimonials from some of the tens of thousands of satisfied cat guardians, visit the Tabcat web-site by clicking on the link above.

Mom wishes this technology and the Tabcat had been available when our now angel, Louise, disappeared into our neighbor’s basement for two weeks or on those nights years ago when either she or Lily Olivia decided they wanted to stay outside all night. Being able to track them down would have saved our mom many sleepless nights.

We are pleased to have had the opportunity to try out this product, and we recommend it to all cat guardians for its ability to help you find your missing kitty as well as for the peace of mind it offers.

Disclaimer: Kitties Blue received the TabCat Safe & Found by Loc8tor free of charge to test and review. We were not financially compensated for this post nor told what to write. The opinions are completely those of Kitties Blue and their human based on our experiences.

Thankful Thursday

We also are joining Brian’s Thankful Thursday blog hop. This week we are thankful for the kindness of Cat Scout Mango’s mom, Brenda. Brenda paints cat portraits as gifts for friends. She began painting Fiona’s portrait about the same time our sweet girl received her wings. After painting the portrait Brenda entered it in an art show, so we just recently received it.

Mom, Dad Tom and all the Kitties Blue thank Brenda for her kindness in gifting this to us.

GIULIETTA’S BIRTHDAY SELFIE

Sunday Selfies: Week #136

After giving me a nice birthday brushing yesterday, Mom asked me to take a selfie for today. As most of you know, I do not excel at photography. This time, I tried Mom’s laptop. After pushing the button, the computer countsdown and then snaps the photo. Even if I was looking directly at the screen, by the time the countdown completed I always looked away or down except for one time. That is the photo I have used for my selfie. Mom fancied it up for me so you might not notice how fuzzy I look.

Giulietta's birthday Sunday Selfie

I think I look away or down in photos so you won’t notice the freckle in my right eye. I think it may have gotten bigger.

My angel sisfur and I received another birthday card after we posted yesterday. It’s from Pipo, Minko and Petretary Ingrid (Meezer’s Mews and Freckles’ Woofs). They always make the most beautiful cards. I am so grateful for their kindness and thoughtfulness and send thanks on behalf of Fiona and myself.

Cat4-001Now it is your turn to show off your selfie to all your friends and admirers. The link to add your photo to the blog hop is below as is the code to add the hop to you blog if you like. Should you do this, please add our badge to your post and/or link to The Cat on My Head. If you are unable to join us today, the link remains open through Thursday, and all anipals are welcome to join the hop.

HAPPY 7TH BIRTHDAY TO GIULIETTA & ANGEL FIONA

Caturday Art

Our beautiful girls celebrate their birthdays today, one at home and one at the Bridge. Just typing this and creating the art for today hurts my heart so much. Never did I dream when I brought these teeny bundles home that one would leave us at such a young age. Fiona is as beloved today as she was the day I adopted her. I can still see her face on that day in my mind’s eye. As I was getting ready to leave with Giulietta, Fiona gave me a pleading look to which I had to respond. I feel so fortunate that I adopted this special cat and that she was in our lives for six-and-a-half years.

I hope you enjoy the birthday art I created from one of Giulietta’s and Fiona’s first photos.

Screen Shot 2017-03-17 at 10.07.02 PM

Today’s art was created by adding the Rainbow filter in Dreamscope, followed by a weave overlay and the bunting and bow using PicMonkey. The border was added with Picasa.

The girls received a beautiful card from Teddy and Angel Sammy from Two Spoiled Cats. Giulietta sends her thanks on behalf of herself and Angel Fiona. We are quite certain that Sammy is helping Fiona celebrate today.

Cat4-001We’ll be back tomorrow with our blog hop. I’ll see if I can get Giulietta to snap a birthday selfie to share. Participation was a bit “off” last week, so we sure hope to see lots of you tomorrow.

Until then, Dad Tom and I want to take this opportunity to say, “Happy Birthday,” to our beautiful girls.

OUR OLD HOME & FILL-INS

Friendly Fill-Ins: Week #45

FriendlyFillIns

I am again participating in the Friendly Fill-Ins co-hosted by Ellen (15 And Meowing) and Annie (McGuffy’s Reader). Each week they create statements for us to complete. Ellen selects the first two and Annie the second two. This is a blog hop. You can link your Fill-In post on Annie’s blog.

My completions are in teal italics.

1. The oldest item in my home is my home and all the original interior fixtures, floors, walls, doors, etc. The house was built in 1912. We have lived in it since 1984. (The kitties thought I should say their dad, but we have inherited many items from his dad that are older than Dad Tom.)

home built in 1912

2. The oldest item in my refrigerator is are the glass bottles we use for chilled water.

3. My family heritage is the crystal my dad and stepmom purchased when they married in 1968 and my grandmother’s diaries and photo albums.

4. My favourite family tradition is was celebrating my grandfather’s Christmas Eve birthday. We have no current family traditions, except sending out our Winter Holiday newsletter.

The fill-ins didn’t lend themselves to including many photos, and I did not feel like digging through the aforementioned albums to find a photo of Grandpa Herman on his birthday. You can see a photo of me (as a toddler) and my grandpa by clicking here.

Yesterday’s Post

I had a brain cramp Wednesday night when I went to bed and forgot to schedule yesterday’s post. Consequently, it didn’t post until 10 a.m. ET. I know many of you visit in the early morning hours so probably missed it. Cooper Murphy wrote a cute poem, and I am asking on his behalf that you check it out. You can click on the link below this post. Thank you.

Special Caturday Art

As I always do, I will be participating in Athena Cat Goddess Wise Kitty’s Caturday Art blog hop. Caturday will be Giulietta’s and Angel Fiona’s seventh birthdays. In celebration, I will be creating art from two of their “baby” photos. I know I am prejudiced, but in my opinion, they were two of the cutest kittens ever and definitely worthy of a squeee or two. Hope you’ll come by and visit, as we will have a small party.

THE EYES OF LOVE

Caturday Art

I had planned to share my finished coloring project of Cooper Murphy from last Caturday with you today. Unfortunately, I was too busy this week to finish it. I promise to have the completed picture here next week.

So today, I am sharing another one of the photos of Fiona and Giulietta snapped by my friend when they were adolescents.

The Eyes of Love

As with the other photos in this group, the girls were enjoying a sunpuddle on the kitchen floor. I didn’t crop the photo in order to frame Fiona and Giulietta with an interesting background. To create the art, I started with the Fire Prayer filter in Dreamscope. From there, I went to picMonkey, put the focus on the kitties and pixelated around them. After that I applied one of the smudge filters and the craft scissor border.

P1000520-001Here’s the original photo with the various lights and shadows that added the interest to the art version.

This is our entry in Athena Cat Goddess Wise Kitty’s Caturday Art blog hop. It is by far one of the most fun hops. If you haven’t created some art and entered this hop, what are you waiting for? The internet has many free photo-editing apps with which you can experiment.

Sunday Selfies

Tomorrow marks week #131 of our blog hop. We are thankful to have many who have and continue to support and enter the hop. And we are so excited when we get a new participant.

No selfies have been taken at our house yet. Guess I’ll have to see who I can coerce bribe later today.

As a reminder, if you are unable to join us tomorrow, the hop remains open through Thursday each week.

Thanks for viewing our art today. See you tomorrow.

THEN AND NOW WITH GIULIETTA

Last week our mom shared a photo of Fiona her friend had discovered and sent to her. Her friend also sent others, and I am in some of them as well.

Like Mom and Dad Tom, I miss my sisfur. We were each other’s BFF as evidenced by this photo from when we were youngsters. I hadn’t even grown my long, floofy furs yet.

then and now with Giulietta

Fiona and I were snuggling in a sunpuddle on the heated kitchen floor. And we were holding paws. I know you want to squeee, so go ahead now. I’ll wait for you.

Now that you have that out of your system, it’s time for me to tell you about the “now.” Most of my time I spend alone on the upper deck on the chaise longue, in the SleepyPod or on the bench in the bathroom. But I also have been spending a bit more time on the humans’ bed. I like to nap on the blanket Charles gave Lisbeth for Christmas 2015. And I have two snuggle buddies—Dad Tom and Mau.

It was particularly nice when Mau was quarantined due to the cat bite boo-boos on his back.

then and now with Giulietta

I haven’t really gotten to know my new brofur, Cooper Murphy. Maybe when I do, I can convince him to become a snuggle buddy as well.

That’s all for today. Hope you enjoyed seeing another photo of my sweet, angel sisfur.

Thanks for dropping by.

Purrs and paw-pats, Giulietta

OUR BEAUTIFUL ANGEL

Wordless Wednesday

angel Fiona

A few words: Mom’s friend discovered she had some photos of Kitties Blue. She sent a few to Mom yesterday, and we couldn’t pass up using this gorgeous photo of our angel Fiona on today’s post.

GLORIOUS GINGERY GOODNESS

What a terrific Tuesday it is when we can share a little bit of tabby tongue, toes, tummy and tail. Not having a tabby in the family since our sweet MacKenzie (another orange boy) left us in 2011, it is a treat to have this opportunity.

A call from another person hoping to claim Cooper Murphy as her lost cat had me in fear once again that we’d lose him. After much back and forth with phone calls and photos, and our trying to convince this lady that Cooper Murphy was not her three-year-old cat, Simba, she still asked to come see him. Before that could happen, she sent us a photo of Simba, pointing out that he has two freckles on his nose. (She could have started with that detail!) We sent an enlarged photo of Cooper Murphy’s freckleless nose to her. Another CATastrophe averted.

Check out these new photos of our catty cutie.

Cooper Murphy-2 - ginger tabby

Cooper Murphy-5 - ginger tabby

Not only can Cooper nap like a champ, but he also has mastered waving and giving a razzleberry at the same time. Crockett (Lone Star Cats) better watch out. He could have some competition from the new kid when it comes to his signature tongue displays.

Please feel free to squeee or snorgle at will!

I want all these people who have lost their precious, ginger tabbies to find them, but not at our expense of losing our new best friend and family member. He is the perfect addition to the Kitties Blue gang, and we have fallen in love.

Today is Change a Pet’s Life Day? We hope we did that for Cooper Murphy.

Thank you, Fiona, for guiding this blessing to us.
