Doozy of A Snoozy

BITE ME: PART 2

Tuesday Doozy of a Snoozy

We celebrated Astrid and Lisbeth’s birthdays about two weeks ago by gifting them with a new shark bed. If you missed the first Bite Me post, you can read it here.

At the time, Miss Antisocial Lisbeth stayed away. However, the very next day we found her enjoying a snoozy in shark’s big mouth!

Bite Me Part 2

Fiona also has found the bed quite to her liking. Unfortunately the H-O-T-S have returned, and Fiona is the only one who has taken advantage of its snuggly plushiness for the last few days.

I’m pretty certain that once the cooler temps set in a line will form to get bit by Mr. Shark, and I’ll have lots more Doozy of a Snoozy photos to share.

THANKS FROM OUR FIGHTER

Tuesday Doozy of a Snoozy

Dear Friends,

I have returned today to say thanks on behalf of Mom, Dad and myself for all your kind words, love, purrs, prayers and suggestions as we deal with my CKD.

In the past few months many of you have asked if I am getting a phosphorous binder. Yes. I have been since I was diagnosed. Mom, however, is changing to a different one as she recently read that I should not take one with magnesium. The one I have been taking does contain magnesium, so I’ll be starting on one without as soon as it arrives.

Mom has also ordered the Astro’s Oil. Dezi’s and Raena’s Mom, Audra, suggested. After reading about it, Mom has decided to give it a try.

Though my numbers are really quite bad, I haven’t been displaying the symptoms of CKD. I do not have bad breath, and I have not been throwing up. And though I was looking down in my selfie photo, I do not have a droopy head. I do not play like I used to, I whine a lot for attention and treats. I also sleep more. In my defense, it has been too stinking HOT to want to do anything else.

The photos I am sharing today are ones of me having a couple of snoozies in my dad’s lap. He is a great comfort to me when I am getting my fluids and medicines, and I am gravitating to him more and more.

Fiona snoozing in her dad's lap says thanks..

Once again, please accept my sincere thanks for all your kindness and love. I’ll be keeping you posted on how I am doing.

In the meantime, please join us tomorrow for the fifth birthdays of Astrid and Lisbeth.

Purrs and paw-pats, Fiona the Feisty Fighter

WORLD CAT DAY MISSED

Our muttonheaded mom did not post on World Cat Day yesterday. Holy moly cannoli, how can she be so daft as to miss a day celebrating cats worldwide? Isn’t this a blog all about us—Kitties Blue, otherwise known as C-A-T-S?

Late in the day, I took matters into my own paws and posted this on Instagram (Kitties.Blue).  After all, how can we not represent for WCD?

Misty May wishes friends happy World Cat Day.

That was exhausting to pull something together at the end of the day, so now I am having one of those Tuxie Tuesday Doozies of a Snoozy snuggled up next to my dad. The best seat in the house!

World Cat Day leads to Doozy of a Snoozy.

I blame this laxity on my humans being parked in front of the TV watching the Olympics. Some of us here at the House of Blue Cats entered a variety of events in the 2016 Blogville Pawlympics. The only event that we entered that has been contested is the Balance Beam. We are pretty bummed that we were not entered in the Silly Sleepy Furries event. MOUSES! Just another example of our mom’s ineptitude. We’ll share our Pawlympics events with you at the completion of all the competitions.

Sunday Selfies Week #104 Update and Thank You

Cat4-001We had a terrific hop to close out year number two of our Sunday Selfies, with 58 entries. We are so thankful for all who entered as well as all who commented. If you missed this historical (MOL) event, it’s not too late to enter. The hop is open for three more days, and the link to that post is beneath this one.

We kitties have been talking to Mom about doing something special for those who entered the hop all 104 weeks. She’s amenable to the idea, but we’ll just have to wait and see what she does. When we know something, one of us will share.

That’s it from me (THE cat on Mom’s head).

Purrs and paw-pats, Misty May

I DON’T REMEMBER THIS!

Tuxie/Tortie Tuesday Doozy of a Snoozy

Lisbeth does not remember snuggling photos with Calista Jo.

See that incredulous look on my face. Do you want to know how I got it?

Mom showed me the following photos, that’s how.

Lisbeth does not remember spooning with Calista Jo.

I absolutely don’t remember these photos being taken or the incident itself. Neither does Mom. She almost fell off her chair when she discovered the photos.

Calista Jo and I are not pals. We don’t chase each other or engage in wacky paws, but we do not cuddle, snuggle or spoon. What we do is hiss at each other whenever we come face to face. Then Calista Jo will slink past me as is only right. After all, she is the baby of the group.

Pawlympics2016+LARGE-1In addition to posting here, Mom entered these photos in the Blogville Pawlympics Snuggling Competition hosted by Marg’s Animals. Mom also entered a snuggly photo of Mauricio and Astrid.

The snuggling competition takes place on August 17.

We entered some of the other events as well, and Mom will share those events and photos in future posts.

Upcoming Posts

We have lots of exciting things coming up on the blog in the next few days, including our Fourth Blogoversary, a giveaway of BlogPaws Conference swag and Mau and Allie’s Wedding. Don’t forget to drop by each day so you do not miss out on any of these exciting events.

Purrs and paw-pats, Lisbeth

TUMMY-TOESY TUESDAY DOOZY OF A SNOOZY

As the temperatures go up, Lily Olivia’s summer position becomes more exaggerated. It’s not even summer yet, but we’ve already had temperatures in the mid-90s F. And Lily Olivia has reached her full-stretch.

Tummy-Toesy Tuesday Doozy of a Snoozy

She can spend hours in this position spread across the settee or double rocker on the front porch. I don’t know what she is going to do with herself when the temperature increases even more by mid-summer. Maybe I will be able to convince her to come inside where the A/C is running.

As Lily is showing off her toes in her snoozy photo, she thought you might like another photo of them.

Tummy-Toesy Tuesday Doozy of a Snoozy

It always amuses her dad when Lily Olivia sits with all four feet lined up. I know you want to kiss those cute toes, but watch yourself. You could lose an eye when Lily freaks out and then lashes out. Lily Olivia loves kisses on her head, and she will gladly give me kisses all over my face. I just have to ask. But those toes are off-limits. She doesn’t even like me touching them!

silverribbonBefore signing off today, we want to send our condolences to all the families and friends of those who lost their lives in Orlando over the weekend. We also are sending all our purrs and prayers to those who are still fighting for their lives. This continued violence saddens us and makes our hearts hurt.

C.J. TAKES HER HOLIDAY SERIOUSLY

In 1996 No Greater Love, an humanitarian organization based in Washington, D.C., established the National Moment of Remembrance. After questioning school children about the meaning of Memorial Day and finding they were totally unaware of it’s purpose, No Greater Love hoped to raise public awareness of America’s heroes and their valor. The idea clicked with President Bill Clinton and Congress. Since 1997, it has become a standard American tradition. National Moment of Remembrance requires everybody to be silent for a minute, exactly at 3.00 pm (local time), and reflect on the glory of those who have died in service to our country.

Calista Jo, after spending her holiday watching birdie T.V. on the catio, decided to extend her minute of silence into an afternoon snooze in a sunpuddle. Her paw and the base of the catio’s cat condo/tree became her pillow.

C.J. Takes National Moment of Remembrance on Memorial Day holiday seriously.

How ever you spent your holiday yesterday, we pray that you took a moment to remember and honor those Americans who gave their lives to ensure our freedom.

We pray for and thank all of those currently serving our country.

BROTHERS MAKE THE BEST PILLOWS

Tuxie/Toesy Doozy of a Snoozy Tuesday

Brothers make the Best Pillows

Five of the seven girls love their brother, Mau. Lily Olivia is not a fan; though, she has been caught snuggling when she doesn’t realize it’s him. The kitty who likes him least is his actual sister, Misty May. But then, Misty May doesn’t really like anyone but her dad and me.

Mauricio is almost always obliging and will snuggle or bathe any of the other girls who ask. And he’ll always wrestle with Calista Jo at mealtimes. So capturing Lisbeth and Mau like this was no surprise…but still cute! Go ahead a say, “ahh.” You know you want to!

We Were First!

We are great fans of our pal, Sammy’s, Tuesday Teaser. We rarely know the locale in the photos; though, we were the only right guesser a few weeks back. Well last Tuesday, like most other Tuesdays, we did not know the Teaser…but, we were the first to comment. Sammy gives an award for that as well. Here’s what we received.

What made this award extra special was that we didn’t have to share it with anyone else! Yippee! Thanks, Sammy. It’s lots of fun and a good way to wake up your brain!

If you are unfamiliar with Sammy’s Tuesday Teaser, visit his blog today, onespoiledcat, and check it out. It’s lots of fun and a good way to wake up your brain!

TUESDAY DOOZY OF A SNOOZY HAIKUSDAY

I decided it would be fun this week to combine our Tuesday Doozy of a Snoozy with Tuesday Haikusday. I am a master of the snoozy at my advanced age of 17. However, I am a novice when it comes to haiku. This is only the third haiku to appear on our blog. So please don’t judge me too harshly.

Special Announcement Update

If you joined us early on Sunday, you will have read that we have a huge surprise to share with you. We had planned to share on Thursday, but after realizing that Thursday is Cinco de Meow, we have moved our announcement to next Sunday’s Selfie post. Though Sunday is also a special day (Mother’s Day), we’ve decided to stick with that plan. Be forewarned: This is not something you want to miss. So even if you don’t join our blog hop, you’ll want to drop by.

My blog hog bum of a brofur, Mauricio, will be here tomorrow for Wordless Wednesday. You’ll definitely want to check out his recent antics.

Purrs and paw-pats, Lily Olivia

ANOTHER STRANGE SNOOZY PAIRING

A Tummy Tuesday Doozy of a Snoozy

I have come across some strange bed fellows at our house, but this combo was more surprising than the Lisbeth/Fiona one from last week.

Doozy of a Snoozy strange pairing

Granted, there’s a bit of space between these two, but it was still a huge shock to walk in on this scene. Giulietta rarely sleeps on our bed, but she can be found there occasionally during the day. To find her there in close proximity to Lily Olivia was a total shock. Lily Olivia was soundly snoozing in her favorite “bunny” position. If you look closely, you can see that Giulietta had one eye open. Lily may not have been aware of Giulietta’s presence, but Giulietta obviously knew Lily was behind her. Giulietta only snuggles with Fiona, but as these two are not officially snuggling, I guess Giulietta thought it was okay to nap next to Lily.

We all know that kitties can easily be awakened when they are merely catnapping. That is no longer the case with Lily Olivia, however, which is truly strange. I have wondered lately if she has lost some of her hearing and that’s why she can sleep so soundly. Sometimes she doesn’t even wake up when she’s called for breakfast or dinner. That never happened until recently. At age 17 some hearing loss would not be unusual. As she is in good health otherwise, I’m not too worried.

With reference to Lily’s health, I had not reported on her recent senior panel blood work. Both her BUN and liver enzymes were slightly elevated by just a few points each. Dr. Neel said at her age she didn’t feel it was much to worry about. She suggested it would be good if we could get Lily to eat a renal diet. She’s not picky so this shouldn’t be too difficult. I was happy to find out that she does not have hyperthyroidism, which is very common with cats of her age. With Fiona’s health issue, we don’t need another kitty who requires medication.

Wherever you are snoozing today, I hope you are as comfy as all the Kitties Blue.

Good-bye Spooky

SpookyKitties Blue and I were so sad to hear that 15 and Meowing‘s Spooky has left for the Rainbow Bridge. If you have not had the opportunity to stop in and leave your condolences for Mom Ellen, Phoebe, Cat Scout Sammy and the rest of the gang, please do so. This is the third kitty they have lost in a short amount of time, and I know they can use our support and prayers. We are sending them lots of purrs, hugs and love.

THE STRANGEST DOOZY OF A SNOOZY EVER

A Tuesday Doozy of a Snoozy

I’ve shared some unusual doozy snoozies with you in the past, but today’s is definitely the strangest ever. See for yourselves.

Strangest Doozy of a Snoozy

Lisbeth never willingly cuddles next to any other cat unless it is Mau. In fact, if others get near her when she’s awake and aware, we can expect hissing and growling. So when we saw this pair together, we thought possibly we had slipped through a portal into an alternate universe. But what we were seeing was totally happening as evidenced by these photos. Lisbeth and Fiona were together on the small cat perch in the kitchen. We are fairly certain Lisbeth was there first based on the amount of real estate she had as well as the fact she never would have joined Fiona.

Fiona never really snuggled with Lisbeth, and I don’t think Lisbeth’s tongue was used for bathing Fiona. Nonetheless, this is the strangest Doozy of a Snoozy ever.

Though tomorrow is Wordless Wednesday, Fiona will be here to meow at you. She sees Dr. Neel this afternoon for her monthly check-up. She’ll have blood work and so will have new numbers to report to you. Please cross your paws that they are improved from her last check-up. She has been so much better about allowing us to give her the subQ fluids. We think she finally has realized she feels better after she getting them.

Missing Special Day Celebrations

Blog-the-Change-e1326692920554I continue to miss all the animal-related celebration days. Sunday was National Farm Animal Day. Just by coincidence Mr. Sheep was our guest host for Sunday Selfies. Sunday was also National Sibling Day. Had I known, we would have had a two-fur selfie with Fiona and Giulietta. It’s a super cute photo. You can see it by clicking on the Instagram button on our sidebar. Even worse than missing those special days, was missing yesterday’s National Pet Day. With any luck I am going to do better in the future as I have dowloaded the National Day Calendar.

This Friday is Blog the Change for Animals, and I am not going to miss that one again. I’ll be sharing information with you about the Kitten Lady (Hannah Shaw).
