SAWYER, FIONA AND FILL-INS

Friendly Fill-Ins: Week #82

1. I can’t believe Silly Putty is still sold, as it is so low-tech. It was always on my Christmas list as a kid. SillyPutty is a trademarked name of Crayola. Similar brands are marketed under other names. According to Wikipedia, Silly Putty was invented in 1943 and since 1950, more than 300 million eggs of Silly Putty (approximately 4,500 short tons or 4,100 tonnes) have been sold.

2. I have been on Craigslist only once when I was looking to see if anyone had listed (not Charlie) Cooper Murphy as “lost.”

3. Going into December, the weather outside is mild, just the way I like it. Growing up in California, the temperatures were usually in the 60s during the day at Christmastime. Some people get all mopey when it isn’t cold and snowing on Christmas. I get happy if it isn’t.

4. My current weakness is just about everything. My all-time weakness would be the (handmade on-site since 1850) dark chocolate truffles from a shop in Lausanne, Switzerland, named Blondel.

Friendly Fill-Ins is a blog hop hosted by Ellen (15AndMeowing)  and Annie (McGuffy’s Reader). You can find the sentences to complete each Thursday on their blogs. The hop appears on Annie’s blog. You can enter it by clicking on her badge. My completions are in teal italics.

Now for the expected and required kitten photos. Be prepared to SQUEEE!

Sawyer is in the pouch of my KittyRoo sweatshirt. The first photo was taken before he got his eye meds and amoxicillin. The second was taken after. He’s all tuckered out from the ordeal. Sawyer’s eyes are looking great, and he is sneezing and sniffling less. Dad Tom and I will be happy when he is no longer quarantined. He really doesn’t like being alone, and we cannot be with him 24/7.

fill-insAnniversary

Though I wrote a poem for Fiona yesterday, reflecting upon her getting her angel wings last year, today is the actual one-year anniversary of that event. She lay cuddled on my chest that entire day and so many times I wanted to call Dr. Neel and ask her to come and help her. I could tell she was suffering. I was both relieved and heartbroken when she took her last breath. Fiona fought hard for 49 weeks. She was brave and strong and fearless and will remain an inspiration always. I thank God she was a part of our family for those six-and-a-half years.

I’d like to thank all those who visited and commented on yesterday’s poem. Your kind words warmed by heart. If you missed yesterday’s post, you can find the link below.

SUNDAY SELFIES THIRD ANNIVERSARY

Sunday Selfies: Week #158

Welcome to the Third Anniversary of our Sunday Selfies blog hop. Kitties Blue and I honestly are flabbergasted that this hop is still going strong. We do have times when our entries wax and wane, but usually we stay around 50 entrants. For all of you who have been with us from the beginning (and there are several), we send a huge THANK YOU, as well as kitty kisses and hugs. If we didn’t have two giveaways already in progress, we’d have one, and we just might anyway. We’ll surprise you next Sunday and let you know!

While trying to determine which of the Kitties Blue should have the opportunity to be the face of our third anniversary post, I had a light bulb moment. I’m a bit surprised as my brain has been stuck somewhere between gears today. I decided to share some statistics about our first Sunday Selfies post and our previous two anniversary posts along with a photo from each.

Starting from the beginning: Post #1 on August 17, 2014. We had seven entrants and Lisbeth was your host with three selfie photos. This was one of them. She was in the midst of having a catnip snack.

First Sunday Selfies post featured Lisbeth.

We celebrated Astrid and Lisbeth’s birthday as part of our first anniversary post on August 16, 2015. We had 61 entrants. Can we beat that today? A photo of the girls as babies was shared as well as a selfie of each girl. As Lisbeth got the first entry on today’s post, Astrid gets this one.

First Anniversary of Sunday Selfies featured Astrid & Lisbeth's birthday.

For anniversary #2, we posted at week #104 which fell on August 7, 2016. We had 59 entrants and both Calista Jo and Fiona were your hosts.

If anyone is interested in revisiting those posts, just click on the appropriate photo. We will charge ahead toward anniversary four as long as most of you are still enjoying the hop and willing to come along for the ride. You can let us know in the comments.

Remembering a Precious Angel

If you joined us yesterday for Caturday Art, then you know that today we are remembering and honoring another dear friend from Critters in the Cottage. Just a little over two weeks ago, the Critters said good-bye to sweet Mitalee Honeybee. We honored her on the Sunday Selfies post, C.J.’s Sad Selfies in Remembrance of Mitalee.

Today we remember the Critters’ four-pound, tiny dancer, Esme. Esme received her wings on Wednesday at only 11 years old. My dear friend, Mum Sophie (aka LP) is not certain she wants to continue blogging; though, we hope she will after a break to grieve for her angels. She has promised to post today. That way you can stop by and leave your condolences there. The entire family is devastated by yet another loss so quickly after Mitalee, as you might imagine. All our prayers and purrs go out to the entire family.

SAMPY, MY ONE TRUE LOVE

Two days ago, Sampson (Kitty Cat Chronicles) and I celebrated the two month anniversary of our marriage. With that in mind, I asked Mom if I could write the poem for Sammy‘s Thoroughly Poetic Thursday. Our prompt letter for this week is “K.” Without unnecessary additional preamble here is my poem.

 Ode to My Husband

Sampy is my knight in shining armor.
He is gentle and kind and a charmer.
I am super proud to be his Missus.
When he writes he always sends me kisses.
A quadrillion kisses are never too many.
If for each one I had even a penny,
I ‘d be the richest kitty in the world.
But I don’t need money as I’m Sampy’s girl.
Sampy encourages me to be brave and strong.
With his love and support I can’t go wrong.
I am learning to chase my sisfurs away
When they try to bug me day after day.
Sampy has my heart. He’s my one true love.
Every night I pray to the stars above
We’ll have years and years to be together,
As I know our love will last forever and ever.

So no problem with that “K” prompt: knight, kind, kisses and kitty!

love

MY TEEFS WERE STOLEN & THE HUMANS’ ANNIVERSARY

Well not all of my teefs, just two. I cannot believe my humans gave their permission for such a thing. Supposedly one of those teef was dead and the other was being reabsorbed. And the vet discovered I had lost three teefs all on my own. That’s five toofies gone! Hope I don’t have to get kitty dentures. Do they have those?

Tuesday was a long day. Dad dropped me off at the vet office at 8 a.m.

Teefs: In the PTU in the Cat-Only Waiting Room.

In the PTU in the Cat-Only Waiting Room.

Teefs: Waiting in the exam room. No way I was voluntarily leaving the PTU.

Waiting in the exam room. No way I was voluntarily leaving the PTU.

That was the last I saw of my parental units until Mom picked me up at 3:30 p.m. Heather, who did my toofie cleaning, met with Mom. She gave her a complete set of the x-rays of my teefs, photos taken during the procedure and diagrams and descriptions of my exam and extractions.

Look at these nice clean teefs.

Look at those nice clean toofies.

I’m supposed to be eating only stinky goodness for a few days, but I’m a tough guy. I went straight for the “hard stuff” the moment we got home.

I’m on pain meds for three days. My stitches are supposed to dissolve. Thank Cod, I don’t want another trip in that PTU. Neither Mom, Dad nor I could remember the last time I visited the vet’s office. Since I never get sick, I only see Dr. Neel at our yearly round-up at the house.

They also sent a toothbrush home with Mom with instructions to brush my toofies everyday. That just ain’t going to happen!  Knowing that, Mom bought me a gift today. Don’t I look excited? I think a toy or some nip is a more appropriate gift after being tortured.

Teefs: Water additive.

Water additive to remove plaque and tartar.

I did not make one peep on the way to the vet nor did I make one on my return home. Those of you who know me also know that I am a chatty catty. But I am also a Cat Scout…strong and stoic. I wasn’t going to vocalize my fear and let anyone know I was frightened. I really didn’t start talking again until yesterday. Those mean humans didn’t deserve to hear my sweet and soothing voice.

I am getting some oh so sweet revenge when it comes to teefs. Mom discovered on Saturday she had broken the corner off of a molar. A trip to her dentist today got her a temporary filling and two more appointments to get a crown. Bwa-ha-ha-ha!

For the moment I am forgiving the humans to wish them a happy 43rd anniversary on behalf of my sisfurs and myself.
