Thoroughly Poetic Thursday
Angel Sammy and Teddy (Two Spoiled Cats) provided us with this unusual photo from the 1950s of a husband and wife switching places for this week’s inspiration. Men normally didn’t do housework back then. Though, I’d never let my kitties be around anyone who smokes; I have added Lisbeth, Cooper Murphy, Sawyer and Misty May to the photo.
Of course, most cats run from the vacuum, but Misty May can’t hear it. Though, not in today’s photo, Audrey and Raleigh are not frightened by the vacuum. Neither was angel Giulietta.
My poem is a conversation between the husband and wife in this photo.
Switching Places
Husband:
I wish you’d keep those ashes off the floor.
This vacuuming is already a huge chore.
Cleaning the cat fur is enough of an undertaking,
And I swear my back is now breaking.
Wife:
Your whining is getting on my nerves.
I believe this one day off I deserve.
Every other day I do all these tasks,
And about my day you never even ask?
Husband:
So is this punishment for not asking about your day,
Or do I have another misdeed for which I must pay?
After all, I am the bread winner of this household,
And menial tasks should not be part of my workload.
Wife:
I don’t think you could annoy me more.
This conversation is becoming a bore.
Should something happen to me, you couldn’t cope—
With cooking and litter boxes you’d be at the end of your rope!
Wife:
A little cleaning once a week to give me a rest
Shouldn’t have you so flustered and stressed.
Your life will be back to normal by dinner time,
Then you’ll have a week before you again tackle this grime.

Thankful Thursday
We also enjoy sharing our thankfuls with you each week for Brian’s Thankful Thursday blog hop.
Cooper Murphy and I are happy we finished his Cat Scout ghost project the day before Halloween. He earned a new craft badge.
Sawyer has not had a seizure in two-plus weeks for which he, his dad and I are extremely thankful.
As always, Kitties Blue and I are thankful for your following, support, comments and friendship.
If you’d like to participate in the hop, post on your blog for what you are thankful and then click on Brian’s badge to pop over and add your link to his post.
Sawyer, that is really good news to be thankful for, and we are thankful with you!
What a hilarious exchange of those two in your poem. Giggles galore at this end!
Seizure-free is a great thing to be thankful for. Your ghost came out nice. Hope you saved some leaves for next week’s project. 🙂 Good job on the poem. XO
The kitties look like the smoke is bothering them! And I agree about the hubby helping with the housework, especially if both spouses work outside the home. I think that way of thinking (helping) is fairly prevalent in the young adult generation.
ROFM/ROFL!!! Oh Aunty Janet that iss THE funniest poe-em efurr!!!!
Wee LOVE it!!!!!
***nose kissess*** BellaDharma an {{{huggiess}}} BellaSita Mum
That was such a terrific poem, bravo! Wonderful thankfuls too, especially from Sawyer. Thanks for joining our Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!
Your poem made me laugh out loud. Wonderful exchange between the two of them.
Way to go Cooper Murphy. You’re brilliant, but I’ve known that for a very long time.
Great news on Sawyer. Keep up the great work.
Have a purrfect Thankful Thursday. Scritches all around, a smooch to Cooper Murphy and Sawyer and a big hug to mom. ♥
As if The Hubby will ever voluntarily sift a litterbox!
Love the ghost and poem…thankful for your blog! Always.
First, we are thrilled for Sawyer!!! Keep up the good work and eat those noms.
Your poem is great but the photo is super cool. We love the way you added the kitties!!!
The Florida Furkids with love and whisker kisses to Sawyer from Noelle
Great poem and I love the addition of the kitties but not sure how many would hang around during the vacuuming stage. 🙂
LOVED the poem and my mommy said “that’s more like it”! And smoking…whoa nelly. Even back when mom smoked…she never smoked in the house, ever. For the kids and the cat. You’d think she’d get a clue, wouldn’t you, if she was careful not to expose others to the smoke, but inhale it hersef. She quit cold turkey years ago. Good thing too. Besides a person’s health, they save thousands of dollars. Better spent on the cats. By the way, putting the cats in the photo was THE best ever! Perfect.
Love how you got the kitties into the poetry photo – they look like they’re enjoying observing “Dad” while Mom relaxes. Love the poem too – purrrrfect for this photo which my Mom got a good giggle from. We’re more than happy about no seizures for dear Sawyer in over two weeks – let’s go for another RECORD Sawyer my friend!!
Love, Teddy
The cats go very well with the photo, I think! Agree about the smoking, it,’s rough on the lungs of living beings. Interesting poetry too, it’s a good thing times have changed. Yay for no seizures for over two weeks!
