Sunday Selfies: Week #189
It’s snowing again! We are not happy. When Mom turned on the weather channel this morning they kept saying the name of our city over-and-over again. The dang storm was headed right for us. As we are all grumping around, Mom and Dad found a guest host for us today. We think you’ll like him. He’s pretty darn cute. (Please don’t tell our friends at the Trout Towne Tabbies that we said this.)
We’re calling this fellow, Screechy. He is a red Eastern Screech Owl. Screechy is an Ambassador for the Southwest Virginia Wildlife Center of Roanoke. He has an injured wing and cannot fly. Those tufts on the top of his head are not ears but feathers. His ears are on the side of his head. Unlike humans, his eyes are fixed and he has no peripheral vision without moving his head. He is very small, only seven to nine inches tall.
We hope you enjoyed meeting our guest.

I want a Screechy now! Tee hee hee. Those head tufts are AMAZING! And Mom thinks I have big eyes… his are even bigger than mine! I hope his wing heals so he can fly again. Head nuzzles.
Hmm that is a selfie look and a half. I dare say that lovely set of claws would be too much for me even. Maybe we could join forces, and share our hunting catches?

What a handsome birdie Screechy is! He looks quite delectable (mol).
What horrible weather you are having! Doesn’t the Weather Man know that Spring arrived five days ago??? It is going to hit 29 degrees C here today! Why don’t you teleport over for a visit? There will be lots of sunpuddles for you to share.
*I* think he looks super-tasty! But maybe too many fevvers to get stuck in my teefs. The Human says this is not a very nice comment to make, but I am a ManCat that always tells the troof.
I would like to send some extra-special kissies to Miss Misty May this evening, because she is such a lovely LadyCat. I hope she does not mind that I was a little, well, bloodthirsty up above. XOXOXOXO
He’s adorable! We lucked out and missed this storm. Actually, we’ve been too far north for most of the storms this month! Go figure…
Indeed! What cute guest host for Selfie Sunday!
Screechy has done a great selfie.
Screechy is pawsome! What an excellent host for this week. And snow??!? NO!!! What’s up with Mother Nature???
Snowin’?!! Sorry ’bout the snow. It’s stormin’ here, but at least it’s not the white stuffs. Nice owl. Maybe we could have him fur dinner. MOL Big hugs

Screechy is a cute fella but I’ll keep my distance so not to tempt him,xx Speedy
Sheesh, its cold here, but at least we do not have snow…yet…
Screechy is a great guest host, he even inspired petcretary to go against the Tabbies wishes and post some of her own guests…We hear owls here in the evening and night time, but have hardly ever seen one. We do see the great snowy ones on rare occasions.
Screechy makes a lovely appearance today.
We hope the snow stops soon where you are.
Thank you for hosting again this week.
Nice to meet Screechy, he’s so cute ! Great selfie ! Purrs
Oh, we are IN LOVE with that little darling screecher! What an adorable creature. Mama had a friend who always had one baby tiny owl like this one on each shoulder, tamed and loving. They flew around the house and kept the mice out.
That is a cute little owl, great selfie. XO
What a lovely guest post. Screechy is a hit.
Have a fabulous day. ♥
We love owls and are blessed in South Florida to be home to the Burrowing Owls, a breed that is declining in population, so we are hoping to find ways to save these charming and beautiful creatures. Purrs from Deb and the Zee/Zoey gang
Screechy is a very dignified guest host and a credit to the Southwest Virginia Wildlife Center of Roanoke. I hope you don’t get buried with snow or whatever else they were warning you about.
Stay safe & warm!
Dang, your guest host is a real hoot! Sorry you are getting more snow, Old Man Winter just won’t give it a rest.
Screechy is adorable, we are very fond of owls, Mommy was lucky enough to get to see some baby Owls at the Pascagoula River Audubon Center.
It’s usually not good when the place where you live gets mentioned on the Weather Channel. I hope you don’t end up with too much snow. Screechy is really cute, and he takes a great selfie! 🙂
What a lovely guest host!! I didn’t know that about their eyes, I knew they turned their heads a lot!
We like Screechy, he’s cute!
Purrs xx

Hello Screechy. You are really cute my friend and the way those feathers stick up, why you could be an honorary cat. Purrs for your fast recovery my friend.
Timmy and Family
What a sweet guest 🙂 Will send some Healing Pawkisses so he can fly again and for all of you some Extra Pawkisses for a Happy Day 🙂 <3
My Mom loves owls – we see them in our trees from time to time or swooping down into the yard. This little guy is SO CUTE with his big eyes and feather “tufts” on his head. I’m glad he has a safe home there in Roanoke. Sorry you got more snow – we never did get any from the last “threat” of snow thankfully. Let’s hope SPRING will blast out all this cold SOON!! Thank you for hosting Selfies – we did a flashback to my first selfie today.
Hugs, Teddy
That owl is a tiny little guy!
Nice costume for carnaval ! very cute !
We think your guest host is doing a good job. We have a rehab place near us, lovely people working there. This dude looks bigger than 7 inches!
Wow what a selfie. You are one cool dude.
Oh No, more snow?? Seems like winter will never be over for ya’ll.
Mom says she almost feels guilty for enjoying our 70 degree temps.
Stay warm and thanks for sharing your blog with the cute little owl.
Happy Sunday, sweet furriends.
XOXO
Screechy is such a hoot! We are fans of owls around here, but, you’re right, let’s not tell the Trout Towne Tabbies about that. Purrs!
P.S. After weeks free of snow around here, we got some of that white stuff dumped on us again yesterday. Spring has to be under all that snow somewhere!
Screechy is a great host. We won’t be telling Da Tabbie so Trout Towne…mum’s the word. Have a wonderful day.
Shoko
