Thoroughly Poetic Thursday
I am joining Two Spoiled Cats, Angel Sammy and Teddy, for their Thursday poetry day, as I do each week. The photo Mom Pam picked for inspiration this week is colorful and interesting but had me wondering what I could write. If possible, I like to include a cat or two in my poems; though, that often isn’t easy. I was able to make that happen this week, but I’m not sure I would call this poem successful. Regardless, I hope it brings a smile to your face, no matter how brief.
Everything’s a Cat Toy
Who would have so many aprons?
Are they just extremely messy
Or do they have a caboodle of cats,
Who think the apron strings are toys?
Are cats lurking in the barn or tall grass,
Waiting for all the wash to be hung
So they can twirl and swing
On those tempting, dangling strings
Or try to snuggle into a pocket
For an afternoon snooze in the sun?
Just drowsily waiting to spring forth
As the wash is removed from the line
And then burrow down into the basket
Of warm, sun-soaked, fresh laundry.

Even if you don’t participate in Thoroughly Poetic Thursday, make sure to take the time to visit Two Spoiled Cats (by clicking on the badge below) to read the poem Angel Sammy will have written and transmitted from the Rainbow Bridge. He’s a masterful poet. And, if you are interested in reading other poems, you can find links to some in the comments section.
Thankful Thursday
We have some little “thankfuls” today, which we will save for another post, except for one. Calista Jo is grateful for the beautiful birthday card she received from Pipo, Dalton and Petcretary Ingrid. It is another work of art. Thank you dear friends for this remembrance.
Now for our big thankful!
Taylor, the super handsome kitty we have been sponsoring at Paws of Connecticut has been adopted. Kevin (meowmeowmans) and his wife, Tracey, are volunteers at PAWS, and Kevin sent these photos.
Congratulations Taylor on getting your happily ever after.
It’s time to select another cat to sponsor. We are looking at this 10-year-old cutie, Boots. Boots was adopted from PAWS a few years ago but returned when his owner lost her job and her home. We’ll let you know if Boots becomes our next sponsored kitty and honorary member of Kitties Blue. We have our paws crossed.
We are joining Brian’s Thankful Thursday blog hop. To join in, tell for what you are thankful on your blog and then hop over to Brian’s. You can do that by clicking on his badge.
Wow! We are so happy that Taylor got adopted! Hooray!
Boots looks like a sweetheart!
We love that poem! Just imagine all those kitty filled apron pockets, MOL!!
We love that poem. You’re right, cats teach us lots about having fun with everything that’s around. 🙂
We spoke today with one of Taylor’s new peeps. He is doing super duper well, and making great progress with every passing day. They love him lots, and he is settling in nicely!
As for Boots, you sure did pick a sweet boy to sponsor. We gave him lots of love and attention when we visited PAWS today.
Thank you for sponsoring them both, dear friends. You are amazing, and we love and appreciate you so!
Hugs and headbonks,
Kevin, Tracey, Gracie, Ava and the PAWS cats
YAAAAY for Taylor!!! Happy forever home mate and Boots, let’s hope you are not in the rescue too long!
PS Happy Birthday Calista Jo!!!!
I am so happy for Taylor and how kind of you to sponsor Boots. Great poem. Nice card, Pipo’s Mom always makes nice ones. XO

The Florida Furkids with bazillion smoochies and tons of love to Mau from Allie
I always enjoy your poems.
Way to go on Taylor. That was quick. I know he’ll be happy in his forever home.
Have a purrfect Thankful Thursday. Scritches to the kitties. ♥
OMC! That’s great news about Taylor!!
I think your poem is great! I can just picture all that kitty activity. I think it’s wonderful that Taylor has now found a furrever home. Here’s praying that sweet little Boots will not have to wait long.
We happen to think this poem is purrfect! It also sounds very true. Those apron strings are so, so tempting…And, HOORAY FOR TAYLOR! We are so grateful that he is now in his forever home. We were so happy to meet Boots yesterday over at Animal Shelter Volunteer Life, and he would be so lucky to have you all sponsoring him while he awaits his forever home. Purrs!
Around here, any trailing apron string would instantly be a cat toy! Yay for Taylor!
Terrific poem! That’s such great news about sweet Taylor, hooray! Thanks for joining the Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!
Oh what a precious poem! The images it brings also bring a smile. XX
Happy Birthday Calista Jo, and your birthday card is beautiful.
We love your poem! It’s perfect……my Mom and I thought the aprons on a clothesline would bring some interesting ideas and this proves she was right! Thanks for playing along with poetry day. We hope CJ had a lovely birthday – the card she got is beautiful just like she is. SOOOOOOOOO happy to hear Taylor found his forever at your shelter AND that you will perhaps be sponsoring another kitty, Mr. Boots.
Happy Thursday!
Love, Teddy
What great news that Taylor got adopted! I think Boots looks like a nice kitty to sponsor.
