Thankful Thursday
I am thankful I got all my plants repotted. If you do not follow “The Adventures of Periwinkle & Stinky,” you missed seeing some of them. Here’s a photo of the gomphrena, heliotrope, ageratum and lobelia with some peonies and a green ceramic cat in the background.
I am super thankful that after two years our our swim/spa is operational again. Now we need to have some warm weather. It was only in the 50s yesterday. For those of you who are newer to our blog, I thought you might enjoy seeing Mauricio swim in 2016. It was to earn his Cat Scout’s Swimming Merit Badge. He got his badge but was not a fan of the experience.
Thankful Thursday is a blog hop hosted by Brian. And we think we have something today for which he might be thankful. Brian is the winner of the book, Destiny’s Children, through a drawing using Random.org. If you would like to purchase this book, visit Books2Cherish. It is on sale through the end of the month for $10. Retail is $15.95. The first book in the trilogy, They Call Me Destiny, is on sale for $5. Shipping and handling for either book is $3. Prices include sales tax.
If you would like to partIcipate in the hop, post on your blog for what you are thankful, then click on Brian’s badge to join.
Thoroughly Poetic Thursday
Thursday also is the day I write a poem for the poetry challenge presented by Angel Sammy and Teddy from Two Spoiled Cats. This week’s inspiration photo and my poem are below.
Simpler Times
Being a kid in the 50s,
Wind blowing in my hair
On a hay ride with friends,.
Without any kind of care
Making clover chains
For bracelets and tiaras.
Going to the drive-in movie
Dressed in our pajamas.
Learning to swim, roller skating,
skinned elbows and knees,
Catching fireflies in a jar—
All special childhood memories.

If you’d like to try your hand at writing some poetry, you can find the inspiration photo for next week by clicking on the poetry badge below.
While visiting Two Spoiled Cats, please make certain you read Angel Sammy’s poem. He transmits it to Teddy from the Bridge each week, and it is always a masterpiece.
We can hear Mauricio meowing, “Help! They’re trying to drown me!” Mom says she did all those things in your poem except the going to the drive in in her pj’s. XOX Lucy and Xena
Your pots are terrific! Stinky and Periwinkle were a terrific help! I love the video of Mau! WoW! Did he ever go back in? And the poem is terrific. You really are a terrific word smith.
Cute video of Mau. And great poem. XO
mol….Enjoyed watching Mau’s swim. There should be a cat paddle way of swimming. Although it is similar to the dog paddle. The poem was the usal for you guys. Excellent!
Tyebe…..here’s a paw hug for Snap.
Sweet Mau !
The Hubby recalls swimming at a friend’s house when in his youth, and the owner’s cat would join them in the pool!
We sure enjoyed seeing your flowers what a great job you do and your home is beautiful. It was so nice seeing Mau getting his Swimming badge. He was one of the few and you can see he was ready to jump out in a flash. Love you Mau. Great poem today friends
Janet, I love your garden. Those colors are among my favorites. Seeing Mau swim impressed me. So far only Elly and Rabbit have fallen into our pool, both choosing to do it “off camera.” It’s a small enough pool that any one of the cats could get out safely if they fell in, so I’m not giving swimming lessons… especially since most of my cats are former colony cats with impressive claws. Also, love your Simpler Times poem. Brings back good memories of years gone past. Hugs, Kim
Your plants look beautiful and how cool to see the Mau sweet video. We enjoyed your poem too. WOW, how cool to win Destiny’s Children on Thankful Thursday, thank you bunches and thanks for joining our Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!
I always follow Periwinkle and Stinky’s adventures. Beautiful plants and they had fun helping.
I don’t think Mau was very fond of that swim. He seemed to be saying no.
Have a fabulous Thankful Thursday. Scritches to all the kitties and a hug to mom. ♥
Mom got leaky eyed when she saw Mau. We remember that video from Scouts. We miss the days of earning Merit Badges by doing things. Your poem was great. Mom remembers going to the drive-in in her jammies!!!
The Florida Furkids
Your yard looks beautiful with the newly potted plants. It is amazing what Mau went through to get his badge. How brave he was.
Oh Mom has told me about Mauricio’s “swimming” experience to get the Scouts badge…..poor guy but he made it! We sure love your poem today – Mom remembers ALL those things particularly making daisy chains….she’s sit in the grass in the yard and make long chains and crowns and decorate them with dandelions. Simpler days she says. thanks for being a poetic partner with us!!!!
Hugs, Teddy
I can see Mau was not a fan of water sports!
