REMEMBERING CHRISTMAS 1949 WITH DAD TOM

After sharing a photo from Mom’s Christmas in 1951, we thought we should give equal time to our dad. His photo is from two years earlier than Mom’s. He is about the same age as she was in her photo: 2 3/4 years old.

Dad Tom's Christmas 1949

That’s Dad in the fire engine and hat. He was a cutie, but check out those ears! Standing behind him are his brother Bill (Wow, those ears must run in the family.) and sister Bonnie. He was the baby in the family and was called Tommy.

Unlike our mom’s black and white photo from 1951, this is in color as Dad Blue shot slides instead of photos.

Like Mom’s Christmas stocking from the 1951 photo that now hangs from our mantle, the clock on the mantle in this photo is on a cabinet in our living room.

The holidays are all about family, love and traditions. Our humans were fortunate to have all of those things as they were growing up. And they now have items in our home that help them remember even without family around.

Well, of course, we are their family now, and we do our best to help them establish new traditions and memories.

Wishing everyone a happy holiday season filled with family, love and memorable traditions.
