TREASURE LIFE

Sparks

Photo of the moon among the trees and in the clouds surrounded by a peach-colored reflection with a quote from Walter Anderson, "Bad things do happen; how I respond to them defines my character and the quality of my life. I can choose to sit in perpetual sadness, immobilized by the gravity of my loss, or I can choose to rise from the pain and treasure the most precious gift I have - life itself."

I believe today’s Spark speaks for itself.

The author of today’s Spark, Walter Anderson, is an author and playwright. He is also co-founder of Novium Learning, an educational services company in Wellesley, Massachusetts. He worked for 32 years at Parade Publications where he held the positions of Chairman, CEO and Editor-in-Chief.

Sparks is the creation of Annie from McGuffy’s Reader. It began as a blog hop, created by our friend. Annie stated when she began Sparks, “I believe we are meant to be lights in this world. If we allow our light to shine, we can see where we are going. It is then that we can begin to truly see each other clearly. Together, we can light up the entire world.”

I must give a special thank you to Dad Tom for the incredible photo I used as the background for today’s Spark. A majority of the photos that appear here are his, and I am so grateful for his expertise and willingness to provide me with so many wonderful images.

The Adventures of Periwinkle & Stinky

Tomorrow is that special day each week when Periwinkle and Stinky set out on a new adventure. Periwinkle will be planning what they’ll be doing. I am certain she has something fun in mind, and the tabbies will be looking forward to seeing you over at Friends Furever. Please don’t let them down.

Thanks for joining us today. We will be back with a new post on Wednesday.

A SAWYER SELFIE & REMEMBERING ANGEL FRIENDS

Sunday Selfies: Week #499

Grey tabby cat selfie with something on his nose. He is remembering angel friends today.

Hi Friends,

I hope you don’t mind seeing me again this week. This is not my best selfie, for which I apologize. I cut off part of my right ear, and, as you can see, I have something on my nose. Dad thinks it’s food. Mom thinks it’s litter. I’m a cat, so I’m not telling. If my mom was nice, she would have edited my photo to remove that glop, but she and Dad think it’s cute. Pfffft!  Regardless, I truly hope that my lovely girlfriend Noelle will like it. Of course, I hope you like it as well.

Remembering Friends

Before we hop today, my fursibs and I want to remember some of our dear friends, who recently received their angel wings.

remembering angel friends: Dai$y, a white and brown tabby cat with a heart-shaped nose.

Da Tabbies O’ Trout Towne

remembering angel friends: Tuxedo cat with big eyes in a bright flowered frame.

Living With Loulou

remembering angel friends: grey and white tuxedo cat in a heart-shaped frame.

Stunning Keisha

All these lady cats were beautiful and special and will be deeply missed by their friends and followers. We feel so fortunate to have known them, and we will love and remember them always.

Hopping Time

Now it is time to hop, and all the Kitties Blue would love to see you right here joining us. You all are just as special to us as the three sweet, lady angels we are remembering. If you can’t participate today, we totally understand. That’s why our hop remains open through Thursday.

And…don’t forget that Day Light Saving Time starts today. Set your clocks forward one hour and don’t be surprised if your loving furkids get a bit confused about mealtimes.

Thanks for joining us today. Have an easy Sunday!

ASTRID IN RIBBONS & BOWS

Caturday Art

The subject of today’s art is Astrid lounging in one of the indoor cat trees.

Tortoise Shell (tortie) cat art in red, white and blue with a blue frame and large bows at upper corners

To create the art of Astrid I used the Bleeding Dragon effect from Painnt with a slight change of hue and bump in saturation. I added the Bubbly filter from piZap and a ribbons and bows frame from favpng.

I created a puzzle but trimmed the edges down so you wouldn’t have so much white space around the sides, top and bottom.

Astrid will be participating in the Caturday Art blog hop hosted by Athena Cat Goddess Wise Kitty. You can do the same by clicking on Athena’s badge.

Friendly Fill-Ins

As Kitties Blue and I did not post yesterday, I am including Friendly Fill-Ins today.

The Friendly Fill-Ins blog hop is hosted each Friday by Ellen (15 And Meowing) and Lorianne (Four-Legged Furballs). They publish the fill-in sentences on their blogs each Thursday. To join the hop, click on the badge at the left.

Sawyer, who often helps me with fill-ins, has helped me out again today. We both used teal italics for our fill-ins. Any explanations are in parentheses.

1. Sawyer: If someone offered me a free lifetime supply of treats, I would accept it.

2. If someone offered me a free gun, I would refuse it.

3. I have the sound of each cat’s footsteps and sound of their voices (not all of them meow) memorized.

4. Everything, but especially technology, has really changed since I was younger.

Sunday Selfies Reminder

Tomorrow is that day when you share your adorableness with all your friends and Kitties Blue by joining our blog hop. Though most of the Kitties Blue do not enjoy taking selfies, they always love seeing yours as do I. Amazingly your host has been selected and already taken a selfie for tomorrow.

Recently, three of our dear kitty friends have run off to the Rainbow Bridge (Cathy Keisha, Loulou and Dai$y). We will remember them tomorrow as well.

Thanks for joining us today. Kitties Blue and I look forward to seeing you tomorrow.

SUNPUDDLE C.J. & POETRY

Thankful Thursday

Thursday is the day when we share our thankfuls with our friends.

I am thankful for the daffodils and forsythia blooming in our yard.

Calista Jo is thankful for the combination of a warm radiator and a sunpuddle. It’s the purrfect place for a nap, especially if you have a cat toy for a pillow.

Dilute tortoise shell cat napping on a radiator in a sunpuddle.

I am thankful that Raleigh likes Dad Tom well enough to let him pet him and give him treats. He won’t let me get closer than two feet.

Kitties Blue and I are super thankful we knew Loulou (Living with Loulou). We will miss her terribly and remember her on our Sunday Selfies post.

Kitties Blue and I are always thankful for your support, comments and friendship.

The Kitties Blue and I will be participating in the Thankful Thursday blog hop hosted by Angel Brian. Click on the badge below to join in the hop.

Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

Thursday also is time for writing poetry, and I always try to participate, as it is hosted by our very dear friends, Teddy and Angel Sammy (Two Spoiled Cats). They provide an inspiration photo, and participants write a poem about it. Here’s this week’s photo followed by my poem.

Man with round glasses, a crooked smile, his necktie tied around his head and gloating.

Gloating

Did you guess this is my gloating face?
I found out I won first place
in the office football pool,
which you must admit is pretty cool.
I will confirm that I’m the company nerd
and following sports I find absurd.
But I put my statistics and math skills to work
and magically I came in first.
I will admit I was totally shocked.
I definitely surprised the office jocks.
The money I’ve won isn’t much—
just enough to take my girlfriend to lunch.
But besting all the sports fanatics
is what makes me the happiest!

Each week Angel Sammy transmits his poem from the Rainbow Bridge to Teddy for publication. Sammy’s poems always get an A++ from us, and they are always worth reading. Please stop over to Two Spoiled Cats, by clicking on the poetry badge, to check out Sammy’s poem and get the photo for next week’s challenge.

Thanks for stopping by today. We hope to see you again tomorrow for Friendly Fill-Ins and Feline Friday.

We truly appreciate you for visiting us today. Thanks!

THE ADVENTURES OF PERIWINKLE & STINKY: PART CCXXVI

Stinky’s Lack of a Plan

Stinky paces nervously past the teleportation tunnel. He knows he is going to disappoint Periwinkle. Though she always tells him it doesn’t matter what they do as long as they are together, he knows she enjoys visiting exotic and fun places and doing exciting things. But to his dismay, he has not come up with someplace to visit today. And he knows they have been having an abundance of at home adventures.

It is National Procrastination Week, and he fears Periwinkle will accuse him of procrastinating. He knows that is his mom’s specialty, and though she does help report on Periwinkle’s and his adventures, he knows this is not her fault.

He thought maybe they could celebrate National Cheese Doodle Day, but though those doodles are mighty tasty, they can stain one’s furs very badly.

His dad suggested celebrating National Poutine Day with a trip down the street to a local restaurant that serves it. But after seeing a photo of it and reading a description, Stinky is pretty certain he’d hork if he tried to eat it.

As it is National Aardvark Week, a visit to one could have been arranged, but Stinky has no idea where to find one.

He has tried to think of something they could do for Celebrate Your Name Week. But, as he’s already taken Periwinkle on an adventure to Periwinkle Park and no one would want to celebrate having Stinky as a name, he nixes that idea.

His mom suggested they enjoy the day outside helping her pull weeds out of the flower beds and driveway. That got a huge paw down from Stinky.

Stinky thought celebrating Professional Pet Sitters Week could be an option, but he had no idea how to do that, as his and his fursib’s pet sitter is Chris, their housekeeper.

Stinky’s Decision

Stinky finally makes a decision, but he is not excited about it. He and Periwinkle will celebrate International Rescue Cat Awareness Month and also write a letter to each other for National Write a Letter of Appreciation Week. It means they’ll be staying at Stinky’s house again, but he just can’t help that.

Stinky makes his decision just in time, as he hears the whoosh from the teleportation tunnel. He sprints to the opening and catches Periwinkle before she can roll into any furniture. They spend some time catching up on the past week and whisker kissing prior to Periwinkle asking what Stinky has planned for the day.

When he explains, he can see Periwinkle trying to hide her disappointment. She asks Stinky which of his plans they should tackle first, and he tells her that she can choose. Periwinkle selects the letters. Stinky runs to his mom and asks for paper and pencils. When he tells his mom what Periwinkle and he are going to do, she finds some nice stationary for them, so they can add the letters to their scrapbooks.

Letters of Appreciation

Letter of Appreciation

“Wow, that is a great letter Periwinkle. Thank you so much. I’m not sure mine will measure up,” says Stinky before he begins reading his letter.

Letter of Appreciation

When they finish reading, the tabbies spend several minutes paw hugging. Then Periwinkle says, “We certainly are two lucky cats to have each other to love and support.” She adds, “By the way I like your snazzy bowtie, Stinky. Is there a reason for your dressing up today.”

Stinky agrees he and Periwinkle are fortunate to have each other and tells Periwinkle that he just wanted to look nice for her. Stinky then complements her on her hair bow. Periwinkle blushes and thanks him.

Finished with their letters, the tabbies decide to move on to celebrating International Rescue Cat Awareness Month.

International Rescue Cat Awareness Month

“Stinky, how are we going to celebrate International Rescue Cat Awareness Month?” asks Periwinkle.

“That’s a good question, Periwinkle. You and I cannot really rescue another cat; though, we have had the orange, un-neutered tabby hanging out around here a lot lately. Cooper Murphy gets very upset whenever he comes around; he puffs up all over and hisses and growls.”

“How does Cooper know he’s here?”

“He comes up the back steps to the catio door,” replies Stinky.

“Do you have a photo of the interloper, Stinky?”

“Yep, Dad took one.”

“He sure looks as if he fits right into your family, Stinky. Maybe you all should adopt him.”

Stinky starts laughing. “Don’t quote me, as I never know what my mom might do, but that is not going to happen!”

Periwinkle just giggles. Stinky tells her they are going to make a big banner with suggestions for how to celebrate. Once again the kitties get to work. “Stinky, This looks terrific. Shall we share it with our readers?”

“Yes, let’s do it. Then we can have a snack.”

Two cartoon tabby cats with a sign with suggestions for how to celebrate International Rescue Cat Awareness.

“Stinky, these are all terrific suggestions.”

“Thanks, Periwinkle. Some of them I found on the National Service Animal Registry web-site. They have oodles of information about International Rescue Cat Awareness Day/Month. If our readers would like to check it out, they can click on the link.”

Good idea, Stinky. Now, let’s go get a snack.

The tabbies retire to the catio where all of Stinky’s fursibs are waiting to visit with Periwinkle and enjoy a snack with her and Stinky.

Soon, it is time for Periwinkle to head home. She and Stinky spend several minutes whisker kissing, paw hugging and giggling. Then she enters the teleportation tunnel and with a whoosh and a wave is gone.

Stinky returns to the catio for a nap and to dream of his lovely girlfriend.

The End

The tabbies will be skipping over to Comedy Plus for the Happy Tuesday blog hop. Click on the badge to join them.

CATIO CATS & A SPARK ABOUT GRATITUDE

Awww Mondays

After several days of rain, three of the Kitties Blue enjoyed some catio time.

Two ginger tabby cats and a tortoise shell cat are catio cats.

Our catio cats, Astrid, Cooper Murphy and Raleigh, will be participating in the Awww Mondays blog hop at Comedy Plus. If you would like to do the same, click on the Awww badge.

Sparks

I think the Spark I selected for today speaks for itself.

The author of today’s Spark, Kristin Armstrong (Savola), is a former professional bicycle road racer and three-time Olympic gold medalist, having won the women’s individual time trial in 2008, 2012, and 2016.

Sparks is the creation of Annie from McGuffy’s Reader. Sparks began as a blog hop, created by our friend. Annie stated when she began Sparks, “I believe we are meant to be lights in this world. If we allow our light to shine, we can see where we are going. It is then that we can begin to truly see each other clearly. Together, we can light up the entire world.”

The Adventures of Periwinkle & Stinky

NEWPSTITLE.jpg

Tomorrow is that special day each week when Periwinkle and Stinky set out on a new adventure. It is Stinky’s turn to make a plan. He’s confided in me that he’s going to be in a pickle if he doesn’t decide pronto on what he and Periwinkle will be doing. He’s always comes up with something fun to do, so I am confident he won’t let Periwinkle or our readers down. And I know both the tabbies will be looking forward to seeing you here tomorrow. So, please don’t let them down.

Thanks for joining us today.

SAWYER’S SELFIE WITH THE LORAX

Sunday Selfies: Week #498

Grey tabby cat selfie in an orange frame with the Lorax on the side for Dr. Seuss's birthday.

Our Sunday Selfies hop today is in honor of Dr. Seuss (Theodor Seuss Geisel), whose birthday was yesterday.

Saturday was also Read Across America Day and the month of March is National Reading Month. You can find out more about Read Across America on the National Education Association web site.

Sawyer looks so cute in his selfie that I created a bonus puzzle. Hope you enjoy doing it.

Sawyer is sending Noelle love and whisker kisses and hopes she likes his selfie.

Hopping Time

All the Kitties Blue are looking forward to having you join Sawyer on this week’s special Dr. Seuss Sunday Selfies hop. I created some frames you might want to use for your selfie. I reposted them yesterday, so if you want to check them out, click on the link to yesterday’s post at the end of this one.

Hope you have found some time to do some reading this weekend. Wishing you an easy Sunday with a good book.

Thanks for joining us, the Lorax and Dr. Seuss on the hop!

TORTIE & TORBIE ART

Caturday Art

Audrey and Calista Jo are the subjects of today’s Caturday Art. Surprisingly, they were both awake when I took their photo. I actually took about ten photos trying to get them to look at me. However, wherever I moved, Audrey looked away. So, only Calista Jo is looking forward.

artistic image of a dilute tortie cat and a torbie cat

To create today’s art, I went back to Painnt. I used the Hialeah effect. After applying the effect, I sharpened the image by 20 percent. The frame  is from the favpng app.

I made a puzzle, but removed the ornate part of the frame to eliminate what would have been a small white border.

Dr. Seuss Sunday Selfies Reminder

Tomorrow our selfies hop will celebrate Dr. Seuss, whose birthday is today. I thought you might like to celebrate by using a special frame for your selfie. I have made a few from which you can select. Of course, you are not required to use a frame, and if you choose to, it does not need to be one of these.
