Friendly Fill-Ins: Week #193
It’s Friday again, which means it is time for those Friendly Fill-Ins hosted by Ellen (15 And Meowing) and Lorianne (Four-Legged Furballs). Each select two sentences for participants to complete. If you’d like to play along, click on the badge at the left. That will take you to Lorianne’s blog, where you can enter the link to your post.
The sentences to be completed can be found on both blogs each Thursday.
This week I was able to complete the fill-ins without calling upon any of the Kitties Blue for help.
My completions are in teal italics, and any explanatory information is in parentheses.
1. My favorite quote is by Emily Dickinson:
“Hope is the thing with feathers that perches in the soul – and sings the tunes without the words – and never stops at all.”
(In 1996-97 my friend, Lynn, was battling malignant melanoma. At that same time I was sending an inspirational quote each morning via e-mail to all the employees at the college where she and I worked. I selected this one especially for her, and it became her quote and mantra. It has remained my favorite since that time. She died in September, 1997, at the age of 39.)
2. My favorite part of February is Dad Tom’s birthday.
3. A little known fact about me is that I was once a dog person. (Though we had cats at home when I was very young, after I turned seven years old we only had dogs. I got my first dog when I was a sophomore in college and my second three or four years later. Tom and I got our first cat in the mid-80s. In all honesty, I still love dogs and all other animals. Kitties are just my favorite, along with pandas.)
4. Living with cats is the most rewarding experience in the world. (Bet you didn’t see that one coming. MOL!)
Feline Friday

Nothing against dogs, but we’re glad you’re a cat person. 🙂
Love the fill ins. Your quote was indeed very special. The story with the quote made me feel good although sad your friend passed away so young.
Tyebe waves at Gingersnap. Snap, are you putting weight on over the winter? We must fix this when spring comes cause I’m storing extra weight myself. We need a good hike in the backwoods…..maybe Cat Scouts will have one. I know some hiking songs.

I was a dog person too. I used to say “Cats are like kids, they are okay if they are someone else’s.” I have since grown to like both.
Great Fill Ins and Dad had doggies too. Just we won his heart
That is such a sweet photo. Thank you for participating in the fill-ins, great answers, except I am sorry you lost your friend so young. I had the same answer for #4. Have a nice weekend! XO
Great answers! We had dogs living here when I came home, they were big, sweet and special.
I remember when my Misty and Johnny napped together like that all the time.
Your friend was much too young to be taken; I am so sorry.
Is there a better pillow than your fellow cat’s rear end? I think NOT!
Hehehe
Love your fill-ins and didn’t know you were a dog person. I too love all animals. They are most wonderful to have as family members.
Aw on the two snuggle buddies. So cute. You know how much I love these two.
Thank you for joining the Feline Friday Blog Hop.
Have a purrfect Feline Friday and weekend. Big hug to you and lots of scritches to all the kitties. ♥
So sorry about your friend.
My dad was not a cat person so I grew up strictly with dogs. In 2001 I offered to help a friend by bottle feeding three abandoned kittens. The rest, as they say, is history! All of our dogs have crossed that Rainbow Bridge now but I do miss having a dog. My six kitties definitely keep us busy.
February is a good month for birthdays! LOL! 😉
I had dogs too as I grew up. I started loving kitties though when I was a young teen, along with my dog then, named Jack. I was married at early in age and we were cat people from then on.
LOVE the bromance going on there! I’m not a dog person, but I used to pet sit for dogs in their homes. I have a lot of great memories from that!
Great filling in this week all by yourself! I love all animals too but cats – well they are my heart. As for that photo of Sawyer and Coop – they may be mismatched but they have something in common – a wonderful and loving home!
Hugs, Pam (and Teddy)
We also had dogs only when I was growing up, but my nan who lived across the road from us had cats and dogs. I always knew that cats would be a big part of my life rather than dogs.
We had dogs only when I was growing up, and then we became kitty peeps when I got married…now we have both!
Feb was my Dad’s birthday month. Its also the Gotcha Month of Pipo, (and Minko).
