For our special Mother’s Day Sunday Selfies Blog Hop, we have another guest host and her two offspring. We’d like to introduce you to Edith XXXV.
Most every spring one or two birds will build or reuse previously built nests in our carport. This year we have two robin mothers and now babies as well. We couldn’t think of anything more appropriate to celebrate Mother’s Day than to share their photos with you.
In addition to the photos, we want to share the story of the original Edith and why we are calling this Edith XXXV. Many, many years in the past (approximately 35) our humans adopted a robin that had been injured by a dog and couldn’t fly. The robin would scamper around the house peeping constantly. She reminded Mom and Dad of Edith Bunker from All in the Family.
Edith was a mischief maker extraordinaire. She would sit atop the kitchen cabinets and dive bomb guests who had no idea she was there. Mom was an avid cross-stitcher at the time, and Edith would try to steal and swallow the floss. She had lots of other quirky traits as well.
After Edith was healed, the humans tried to release her, but she didn’t want to leave. Dad built a shelf for her and attached it to the front of the house. When Edith was let outside, she would fly around and explore but eventually come back to her shelf before coming back inside the house. After a few weeks of doing this, she flew into some trees across the street and did not return.
Now every spring, at least one robin is given the name Edith!
We look forward to seeing all your selfies, especially any special Mother’s Day selfies. You can add the link to your post below. If you have trouble entering your link, leave us a Comment and our Mom will do it for you. Finally, if you would like to display the blog hop submissions on your blog, please be kind and display our badge and/or link back to The Cat on My Head.
Wishing our mom and all the moms and others who act as moms, a Happy Mother’s Day filled with lots of love.

Sorry this is so late but with Peanut and Harvey not being well – we are behind BUT we are going to get all 50 done!!
That is such a nice story about Edith! It almost makes me feel bad about complimenting the nice pictures of snacks you posted above. They look dee-lishus!
We are real sorry about the Cat Scouts thing. The Human is getting so old and crotchety that she is having a hard time keeping up with her 11-hour-a-day job, ha ha meow. She tells me I am lucky she even helps me with my blog, and I’d best stop complaining if I want to even keep *that*. Sigh. Miss you guys too.
What a sweet story about Edith, and all the Ediths who’ve followed!
Happy Mother’s Day to your wonderful mom (please give her some love and snuggles from us), and all moms everywhere!
