Thoroughly Poetic Thursday
Each Thursday our friends, Angel Sammy and Teddy, from Two Spoiled Cats invite us to join them in writing a poem. They even provide an inspiration photo. Here is today’s photo.
When I first saw the photo, it made me chuckle. But as I began writing my poem, I realized there is nothing amusing in this scene. The focus of the poem changed then. I cannot say I am pleased with the outcome. But at the moment, I do not know in what direction to take it, so I am abandoning it at this point. I apologize to Teddy, Sammy and all of you.
Mother Nature Cannot Be Stopped
Is this a practical joke?
Did someone think they
Could stop the tide?
If only that were true,
But this ocean-front street
Has almost disappeared.
When the storm blows away,
The tide will recede, leaving
The storm’s detritus, destruction
and heartache in its place.
If the tide could have heeded
That sign and stopped
The outcome might have been different…
Beachgoers enjoying sand and sun.
But Mother Nature cannot be stopped!

Thoroughly Poetic Thursday is not a blog hop, but you can leave a copy of your poem or a link to it in the Comments at Two Spoiled Cats. To go there, click on the poetry badge. While there, read Angel Sammy’s poem. It is always masterful.
Thankful Thursday
Thankful Thursday is a blog hop hosted by our friend, Brian. Each Thursday we get to share for what are thankful. This week we are thankful for Ellen, the mom at 15 And Meowing. Many of you know her as the Tooth Fairy, as she generously sends her crocheted catnip toys to those kitties who have had dental work. Her toys are among Kitties Blues’ favorites. But today we want to thank her for her commitment to helping Boston’s Forgotten Felines. She will be donating all October-December royalties from her book, Prancie’s Prayer, to the group.
Here are the links to places where you can purchase Prancie’s Prayer.

Great poem. Thank you for spreading the news about my book. I hope I can raise a lot for Boston’s Forgotten Felines. XO
You’re right about Mother Nature. She can’t be stopped!
That’s so true of Mother Nature.. there is a story of a king whose subjects thought he could do anything… so he taught them a lesson by showing them that even a king cannot stop the tide… Purrz from the Katie Katz.
Nope, Mother Nature cannot be stopped, but it’s awfully nice that someone put in a stoplight for the unwary!
LOL!
Terrific poem!
I always love your poems. You do these so very well.
Ellen is a very special lady. I have her book. So delightful.
Have a fabulous Thankful Thursday. Scritches to all the kitties. ♥
Yep, don’t mess with Mama Nature. We love the Tooth Fairy too, she is super special. Thanks for joining the Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!
Angel Sammy’s poem this week was like yours – about Mother Nature and her “having her way”…….he said when he first saw the photo that’s what flashed through his mind. It will be fun seeing everyone’s poetry this week……we just love yours even though you say you’re not happy with it! 🙂
Hugs, Teddy
Great poem celebrating the strenght of Mother Nature. Purrs
