Thoroughly Poetic Thursday
When I saw the inspiration photo for this week’s poetry day, it reminded me of my best friend when I was a youngster. His name was Bobby, and he lived next door.
My poem today just as easily could have been written about the photo of Bobby and me as the inspiration photo below. The obvious difference is that Bobby and I look happy and carefree while the youngsters below seem to be dismayed or confused.
Friendship
When feeling sad and blue
Having a best friend that’s true
Is something we all need
Of this I think you will agree
Someone who will hold your hand
And by your side always stand
Someone to share your pain
With no desire for any gain
This friend will also share your joy
And with your feelings never toy
Everyone needs a best friend
From life’s beginning until its end

Thoroughly Poetic Thursday is hosted by Teddy and his angel brother, Sammy. Each week they provide a photo participants can use as inspiration for an original poem. Angel Sammy is the poet in the family and transmits his poem each week from the Rainbow Bridge.
Personally, I look forward to the challenge each week, as poetry always has been my favorite and preferred form of expression. If you have been toying with the idea of taking part in this weekly event, but are unsure of your skills as a poet, here’s a website I think you will find useful: Shadow Poetry.

Thankful Thursday
Our thankful this week comes from the entire Kitties Blue crew, myself and their dad. Today is supposed to be the last day of the record-breaking temperatures in the 90s. It has been a ridiculously hot summer with an over abundance of 90+ degree days, and we are all so over it. The kitties are looking forward to some cooler days on the catio, and I am looking for the same as I work in the yard.
Thankful Thursday is a blog hop hosted by Brian. To join the hop, post on your blog for what you are thankful and then click on the badge below.

Love your photo and your poem too. Our hots won’t be gone until tomorrow night but we’re more than ready. Thanks for joining the Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!
I hope the temps finally drop for you! As a kid, my friend was Phillip, until his family moved away. I’ve always had male friends.
What a great photograph of your best friend. Love your poems too.
I’m thankful that I finally stopped here and started commenting instead of lurking. You’re a wonderful blogging buddy and I love your kitties.
Have a fabulous Thankful Thursday. Scritches to all the kitties. ♥
Cute picture and poem. I’m blessed to have some best friends that I’ve known for over 60 years!
Sweet photo of you and Bobby! Nice to grow up with a best buddy next door – we moved so often I never had that kind of friendship I’m afraid. I thought the photo for this week could be interpreted in so many different ways that it would be a lot of fun to write a poem for – and indeed it is! Thanks for participating in Angel Sammy’s Poetry fun.
Love, Pam
