MISTY MAY’S COMPUTER SHENANIGANS

Misty May has been belly-aching that I don’t write about her very often. She thinks this is a huge oversight as she is the actual cat on my head. In my defense, she spends her time divided between four places: my pillow while I’m sleeping, outside, in our bed when we aren’t or atop the granite slab on the bathroom radiator. She rarely socializes with the other kitties and that includes her brother, Mauricio. They bathe each other on occasion, but that always ends in a brawl when one or the other bites a neck or ear.

If she is outside at dinnertime, she will not come in the house until she actually sees the bowl with the food in it. And she never comes around during people mealtimes to bug us as most of the others do.

When she does decide to grace us with her presence, she has a tendency to get herself in trouble by pummeling the computer with her legendary head butt or by tap dancing on the keyboard. Though Calista Jo is the kitty who likes to mess with this blog, Misty May likes to turn things completely topsy-turvy (literally) with the computer.

Her first foray into computer tampering resulted in the screen on her Dad’s old laptop being turned upside down. Of course, he didn’t know how she did it or how to correct it. That meant a call to Lenovo tech support. Her second misadventure involved completely freezing-up his MacBook Air so that it would do absolutely nothing…not even turn off. This, of course, required a phone call to Apple which lasted approximately two hours. Correcting this was quite an ordeal with the tech having to describe a variety of fixes until one finally worked.

Misty May is the champion head-butter of the eight, and she loves to give kisses to her humans. She also likes to have me kiss her on the head over and over and over again…!

She is, however, her daddy’s girl. She allows him to rub his face all over her after he has applied aftershave so she can keep him close all day. Before he retired, she always kept him company when he worked from home. We’re pretty sure she misses that duty, especially since the kitties are currently banned from the third-floor office/den. To get there they have to transverse the formal parlor with its upholstered furniture. And if they manage to sneak by us and gain access, as Misty May often does, I worry we will never see them again. In all probability, they would  become lost in all the stuff that has been piled up there the past few years. But good news for me and the kitties, Tom’s been working hard since the start of the year on reclaiming the space.

Misty May is currently sitting on the counter next to me. She never sits with me when I work! She did make a brief foray across the keyboard, but thankfully the computer and WordPress are still functioning. Guess she needed to make certain I finish and publish this post.

So Misty May…it is done. You may now return to your usual pastimes.
