Misty May, Mauricio and Lily Olivia have outside privileges during the day. They are not required to stay on the Catio like the younger cats. Prior to being allowed outside unsupervised, they underwent many months of training. And they wear collars with I.D. at all times. Both Mauricio and Lily Olivia spend most of their days on the front porch. Lily Olivia’s favorite place is the settee. Mauricio prefers any of the three rockers.
Misty May on the other hand spends her days roaming from one napping spot to another. She likes to snooze under bushes, on the pool cover, on top of or under the car, but especially in the driveway. There she can be in the shade, lounge in a sun puddle or take advantage of both at the same time. And best of all, from there she can watch all our comings and goings.
In this photo Misty May is trying to distract us with her pristine white tummy and adorable, jelly bean toes. It is her attempt to convince us that she is having some shut eye while stretched out in what we refer to as summer position. But it is all a ploy. She is playing possum. She is totally alert to our every movement and just waiting for the basement door to open.
You may not believe it, but she can spring from this position in the blink of an eye and dart into the basement where she can lose herself for hours and hours!
No matter how vigilant and quick we are to try to stop her, like a flash she has disappeared. If we are taking the bike out for a ride, and she won’t come out, she can remain trapped for up to four hours. Sometimes by the time we return home, we have forgotten she is there. If Misty May doesn’t bolt out the moment the door is opened, I know just where to look if she doesn’t show up for dinner.
Sometimes I wonder what she finds to do for all those hours, but I suspect, just like the rest of you kitties, she has found a place to nap and enjoy an Easy Sunday. Wherever you are spending your Sunday, we wish you an Easy one as well.
I am sorry I did not get things set up to begin the Sunday Selfie Blog Hop this week. I will do my best to have it up and running for next Sunday.
Mauricio requests that you please stop by for Man-Cat Monday and Tuxie Tuesday. He will be using both days to post about his latest Cat Scout adventure and will have both a new story and poem to share with you.
Finally, please accept the Kitties Blue and my apologies for not visiting and commenting as much this past week. I was out of the house three days with appointments and spent much of my computer time helping Mauricio get ready for his outing. All of us promise to do better this next week.

We can see how this possum ploy would work! It is very distracting — too adorable to ignore! What is it with cats and always wanting to dash into places they aren’t supposed to go?! Sophie does the same thing whenever we open the door to the office/music room. She isn’t allowed to go in there because she loves to chew cables and chords, of which there are WAY too many of in there. But as soon as that door opens, she makes a mad dash to the very back corner. She can run surprisingly fast when she puts her mind to it! MOL!
OMC! Mau was AMAZING on the Bayou Trip! We had sooooo much fun! My Human is so lame she didn’t help me visit at all for the whole weekend! Phfft. She is a terrible multi-tasker! MM looks darn adorable there–but I can kinda see how she playin’ possum….something in the tilt of her pretty head.
What a marvelous picture and such a great one for National Lazy Day! The cats at our house can go outside in Midway, after wes been trained. Even me had to goes through it! And even young Jo-Jo stays in the yard.

That’s our girl.
Our mommy is squeeing over tummy and toesies! Hope everykitty has an easy Sunday!
Yup…speedy kitty is our motto too…esp Minko is talented that way.
Greased lightening!
You look almost too comfy to be alert, MOL!
We hope all the kitties have a pawsome EZ Sunday!
That is quite the beautiful Easy!!!
Squeee Squee Squeee!!!
Look at those black toes…. SQUEEEEEE!!!
Cute picture. Cats know how to relax. Have a great day! ~xo~
Our Digger will just wait for the door to open, and shoots out the door toward the greenhouse to lay down and roll over and over, I dont know what it is or why he likes to do that. But the more I talk to him the more times he will roll over, great kitty game me thinks.
Have a catastic day!

Our Samantha can be sneaky like that too. She lies in wait for the door to open and one of the dogs to hesitate and then out she goes (she is not supposed to go outside). She’s also been missing for hours and we’ll find her shut in a room somewhere when we never even saw her go in there!
Misty May sure looks like she’s enjoying her outside time.
I think Misty May has a secret stash of mousses down there!! The Staff says she understands about the busy thing!! Me? Not so much! Looking forward to seeing Mau’s holiday “snaps”! See what I did there? MOL
Oh look at that soft white floof…..purrrrsss 🙂 have a blissful sunday sweetie hugs Fozziemum xxx
We know all about fast kitties! Gin Gin loves to go out and explore under the deck. But since we don’t want her there, she sneaks past us to get there!
Our other three cats DO NOT want to go out for any reason at all!
Now Gin Gin has a harness and after a struggle to put it on her, she knows she will get to go out!
Keeping up with what’s happening on Cat Scouts is almost a full-time job so we totally understand!!! Sam doesn’t go outside like he used to but when he did, but in his early days it was on harness and leash – these days he doesn’t venture much beyond the porch with me and his Dad in our rockers – just three old folks enjoying the evening air! Misty May looks adorable lying there all cozy and comfy in a sun puddle……….
Hugs, Pam
We all need some alone time every so often.
Have a serene easy Sunday.
Best wishes Molly
Maybe Misty May enjoys her own company sometimes.
Luv Hannah and Lucy xx xx
She sure looks comfy!
That basement must be pretty cool!
Misty May probably enjoys her alone time in the basement, away from her younger furblings. 🙂
Have a lovely weekend!
What has to be done must be done… Humans have only 24 hours in a day, we understand purrfectly ! Who could believe you’re fast as a flash seing you in that relaxed summer position, Misty May ? Purrs
Pee-Esse : we read first too fast, and wondered what was this new game of being an opossum MOL !
