Thankful Thursday
We, Kitties Blue, are writing today’s post and have decided to start with thankfuls, as we have many this week.
First off, is a thankful from Periwinkle & Stinky who tied for first place in the Teaserween Costume Contest at Two Spoiled Cats. Their co-winner was Joanie from 15 And Meowing in her nurse’s costume. The tabbies are very thankful that Mom Sharon (Friends Furever) entered them in the contest. Here are Periwinkle & Stinky in their costumes (check out that mustache) and the badge they won. (If you missed their last adventure, click here.)
Mom is thankful to have guessed correctly on the Tuesday Teaser; though, she was the last to guess, not the first. She did win this special badge.
Mom has this week’s biggest thankful. She and Dad Tom now have a chair lift from the garage to the first floor of our house. When they put the addition on the house, they planned to eventually have a lift. They just didn’t expect eventually to come so soon. We haven’t been able to try it out. The manual says it is not for pets. Phooey!
Thankful Thursday is a blog hop hosted by that handsome and popular tabby, Brian. If you would like to join us on the hop, post on your blog for what you are thankful. Then click the badge below to go to Brian’s blog and enter your link.
Thoroughly Poetic Thursday by Kitties Blue
We decided to totally let mom have the day off (except for typing, of course) and are joining Teddy and Angel Sammy’s poetry challenge. So, we asked Mom for her thoughts on this week’s inspiration photo and then wrote the poem ourselves. Here’s the photo and our poem.
Days Gone By
An airplane trip was a luxury when our mom was young.
At aged 13 she had her very first one.
Meals were free and prepared by gourmet chefs.
Sunday best was how everyone dressed:
Hats and gloves for ladies, suits and ties for men.
Traveling in pajama pants was frowned upon then.
Flying now is a giant pain and like a cattle call:
Tiny seats, masks, no snacks…and no fun at all!
Though there are lots of places our mom wants to go,
She believes she’ll stay home and watch TV travel shows.

If you’d like to play along and write a poem, head on over to Two Spoiled Cats on Thursdays to find the photo for the following week. You can go there now and find next week’s photo, as well as Sammy’s poem for this week. While visiting, make certain to read Sammy’s poem. He transmits it to Teddy from the Rainbow Bridge, and it always gets an A+ from us.
You can go to Two Spoiled Cats by clicking on the poetry badge.
Thanks for visiting us.

Congrats to Periwinkle and Stinky! And to you for being first commenter. Nice job on the poem. I have always preferred to stay home. I have only been on a plane a few times. XO
That chair lift is pretty cool. We bet you guys can get a ride on it…if you ask nicely.
Stinky and Periwinkle you two look fantabulous in your Halloween costumes….right clean down to Stinky’s mustache.
This poes is so spot on! When air flight first took over it was such a great trip. Free food and it was delicious. We all wore good clothes to travel with or even be seen at the airport in. We thoroughly enjoyed the poem and it brought back severak memories to mom.
Tyebe….paw hugs to my man cat.
Who reads the manual?!?
What really nice Thankfuls you have this week. We know that lift will go to good use and big congrats on Stinky getting a wind with his gal Periwinkle and Joanie too in The Teaswerween Photo Contest! Great Poem too friends
Happy National Cat day!
Those really are terrific thankfuls and hooray for your wonderful chair lift! That was a great poem, and can you believe all that room on the plane!
Lots of great Thankfuls!! We know that chair lift will be a great help to your Mom. Too bad it’s not for pets but we think we might be a bit askeered of it.

Congrats again on winning the contest AND being right on Teaser! A double win. We like the new chair lift – this is something my Mom and Dad will be doing in the next year or so as Mom’s arthritis gets worse. Too many stairs in this house (except I love to run up and down them). Your poem for Poetic Thursday is perfect – just the way my Mom remembers flying. It was an “EVENT” and now it’s a “BOTHER” !!!!! Thanks for pawticipating in all our events every week.
Hugs, Teddy and Mom too
Concats and more concats!! On Stinky & Periwinkle’s win, and on being a right (if not first), guesser! Petcretary was a right but not first guesser, too….
Your poem is spot on!!
I traveled by air from Canada to Europe at age 3 months and again at age 7…my Mother was a brave lady to travel all alone with her (2, and later three) children…so she could visit her family…and show off her children to my grandparents….she was so homesick…at least all I had to do was drive:)
That is some stylish ride to maneuver the stairs!!!! Hope it gives you the mobility freedom you need.
