Friendly Fill-Ins: Week #218
Friendly Fill-Ins is hosted by Ellen (15 And Meowing) and Lorianne (Four-Legged Furballs). Each select two sentences for participants to complete. If you’d like to play along, click on the badge at the left. That will take you to Lorianne’s blog, where you can enter the link to your post.
You can find the sentences to be completed each Thursday on both blogs.
I had to get a little help this week from Astrid, Cooper Murphy and Sawyer. We have used teal italics for our fill-ins. Any explanatory info is in parentheses.
Astrid: 1. I had great affection for my brofur Mau. (This is a photo of Mau and me in Dad’s lap from October 2018.)
2. I try to avoid surprises.
Sawyer: 3. Finding and playing with a mouse is my idea of fun.
Cooper Murphy:4. If I were a food, I would be a gingersnap cookie.

Belated Thoroughly Poetic Thursday
As promised, I am posting my poem today for this week’s poetry challenge hosted by our special friends Teddy and Angel Sammy. Each week they provide an inspiration photo for those who participate.
This is the photo and my poem for this week.
Sweet Summer Memory
Watermelon so juicy and sweet—
One of my favorite summer treats.
Grandpa and I would take slices to the lawn,
Eat, spit seeds and savor until it was gone.
All summer I’d wait for watermelon plants;
None ever appeared—only ravenous bees and ants
To get their share of the nourishing nectar.
Often not willing to wait, the bees would pester
While we wiped juice from chins and fingers.
It was best to slurp and gobble and not linger.
Today I eat watermelon in cubes from a bowl,
But I’ll never forget Grandpa and those days of old.

If you’d like to participate by writing a poem, click on Sammy’s badge. While you are visiting Two Spoiled Cats, please read Angel Sammy’s poem. He is a terrific poet and goes to a lot of trouble each week to transmit his poem to Teddy from the Rainbow Bridge. Check out any links to poems in the Comments as well.
We’ll be back tomorrow with some new art for Athena Cat Goddess Wise Kitty’s Caturday Art blog hop.
Love the photos and the poem dear friends
Thank you for participating in the fill-ins, nice answers, especially Astrid’s. You are a sweetie. And Sawyer, you are quite the mouser. I enjoyed the poem too. XO
You guys did great with the fill ins. Sawyer, is that a real mousie? How cool!
Love the answers to the Fill Ins and Coop’s was Tyebe’s favourite. I think Coop could tell Tyebe to jump off a bridge and she’d swoon.
Your poem ws worth waiting for my friends.

Thank you for joining the Feline Friday Blog Hop.
Have a purrfect Feline Friday and weekend. Scritches to all the kitties and big healing hugs to mom. ♥
What a SWEET and STICKY memory! Watermelon was so wonderful in the hot summertime – my brother and I would play in our tiny little pool or sprinkler and have a watermelon treat afterwards. THEN Mom would hose us down again to get the mess off before we could come inside. I think Teddy would ignore watermelon but I do believe I could polish off a bowl of watermelon cubes in no time!!
Hugs, Pam
I wish I could find a real mouse!
