HERE COMES THE SUN

Sparks

Golden Sun (Sol D'Oro)

My Spark for today exactly represents how I feel and respond to the sun. When days are dreary and cloudy, I feel down and droopy. The sun coming out will almost always bolster my spirits. After a summer filled with rain, I definitely hope to see more sun during autumn.

The background for today’s Spark is one of Dad Tom’s photographs. It is Sole d’Oro, created in 2017 by Dale Chihuly. The glass sculpture is 14½ x 14 x 14 feel and currently is installed at the Biltmore, Asheville, North Carolina. The exhibit will be open through October 7. (If you are unfamiliar with Dale Chihuly, you can read about him here.)

For my younger readers, you may not know who Wilma Rudolph was. Rudolph (June 23, 1940 – November 12, 1994) was an American sprinter, who became a world-record-holding Olympic champion and international sports icon in track and field. She competed in the 1956 Olympic Games winning a bronze medal. In the 1960 games she won three gold medals. To learn more about her, click here.

Sparks began as a blog hop, created by our friend, Annie (McGuffy’s Reader). Annie is taking a “break” from blogging, so there is no hop. Many of us still continue to post a Spark on Monday, as we believe in Annie’s vision: “I believe we are meant to be lights in this world. If we allow our light to shine, we can see where we are going. It is then that we can begin to truly see each other clearly. Together, we can light up the entire world!”

Wishing everyone a day filled with sunshine!
