Sunday Selfies: Week #127
This stunning calico is Charlotte, the kitty I am now sponsoring at PAWS Connecticut.
Her PetFinder bio reads: Charlotte is a sweet girl about five years old who is a little shy until she knows and trusts you. Once she does, she is very affectionate, likes to be brushed and sit near you. She gets along with other nice cats and would be a great companion.
She is listed on the PAWS web-site as three and a half years old. We are not certain which information is more accurate.
PetFinder also states that Charlotte is: House trained • Spayed/Neutered • Current on vaccinations • Coat Length: Short.
As I did with Swizzle, I will sponsor this girl until she finds her forever home, however long that might take.
I had planned to sponsor two kitties, Pumpkin and Miss Piggy, after Swizzle was adopted. Both, however, were adopted before I could even submit my request. Recently PAWS volunteer and our friend, Kevin (meowmeowmans), let me know Pumpkin had been returned to PAWS.
This is what Kevin wrote to me:
Apparently, her adopters were not patient enough to let Pumpkin come out of her shell on her own schedule. So they brought her back, saying she was not warming up to them. Hiding, smacking them when they tried to pet her, etc. It makes us sad, and kind of mad, but it is better that Pumpkin is back with us than some alternatives we can only imagine. She is a good girl, and we are all giving her lots of love, as always.
This saddens me as well. I will be inquiring this week about sponsoring Pumpkin as well as Charlotte. She deserves at least that much.
If you can afford to do so, please consider sponsoring a PAWS cat or one from your local shelter or rescue. Most have similar programs. All you need do is inquire. If I am able to sponsor Pumpkin as well, I’ll let you know. And if you or someone you know might like to adopt Charlotte or any of the other PAWS kitties, click on their link in the first paragraph.
This is our Sunday Selfies Blog Hop. All anipals, regardless of species, are welcome and encouraged to join. And please invite your friends…the more participants, the more opportunity you have to make new friends. Please try to visit some of the other blogs as well. The Dash Kitten crew are very good about visiting everybody each week, and Kitties Blue and I really appreciate their efforts. We rarely make it to all your blogs, but we do try.
The link to add your selfie is below as is the code to have the hop appear on your blog. I only ask, should you do this, you link back to The Cat on My Head and/or display our badge.
With many thanks! Have an easy Sunday.

Charlotte is beautiful, and we hope she finds her forever home soon! She’s so lucky to have you helping her find it. And, we love all these Sunday Selfies. We want to play along nxt week!
Our first rescue cat spent the first two weeks in our house hiding under the bath! He eventually emerged and after another week would let me pet him but not my husband. A couple of weeks later and he had accepted both of us. A couple of months later and for the rest of his life he was the most beautiful affectionate cat you could imagine. We were heart-broken when he died at the age of 18.
I wish people would be more patient with rescue cats. They don’t know what they have been through early in life.
cute cats. I would like to have your own stream a way
OK starting our tip around the Sunday Selfies. We aim to head to Miss Dion first, she looks as tho’ she needs help.
Charlotte is so pretty and dainty!
How wonderful that you sponsor kitties at the shelter.
We sure hope Pumpkin finds a home again soon.
hello what lovely selfies all the entries are, sorry we are late in linking here.
so sad that pumpkin was returned! People just aren’t patient enough! Good luck!
What a cutie ! Charlotte looks adorable ! Purrs
Oh, I hate to see kitties return to the shelter. It’s so hard to coax them back into life when they’ve had a bad experience. But I trust that the wonderful volunteers and staff will help that sweet kitty get ready for her next chance at love.
I do try to visit every blog in the hop, and many times, I see every single one! But this week is likely to be a little different. I broke my leg last week, and am off to surgery on Tuesday. My energy level (and clearheadedness) is a little questionable this week. I hope everyone will forgive me if I’m a little less active!

Charlotte is cute. I hope she finds her forever home.
Hopefully Pumpkin finds the right family soon. Someone who will let her become adjusted and share love on her terms.

PeeEss…We aso hope Pumpkin finds the purffect furrever home!
I will pray that Charlotte find a loving and wonderful forever home. In the Purrfect world this would be the case for all needing a home. Thank you so much for being a voice for those in need.
Charlotte I’m a calico kitty too! YOU are so beautiful! We sure do hope your forever and ever home comes along quickly, but we do know you are safe and loved at PAWS until that day comes.
Charlotte is a beauty! Hoping for the best for both Charlotte and Pumpkin. It’s too bad Pumpkins adopters weren’t patient enough. Perhaps they shouldn’t have adopted in the first place. But like Kevin said. At least she is back with them, safe and sound.
Sweet girl! I hope she and Pumpkin find fur-ever homes soon. My sweet Annie is a rescue from my local shelter and I adore her!!
We get angry when we hear stories about Pumpkin! Mommy had to be very patient with Lexy for months after she came to live here, and she would NEVER think of returning her! Pumpkin is lucky for you and for the people at PAWS. Thank you for sponsoring.
Charlotte is so stunningly beautiful! It’s so kind of you to sponsor her. I’m sorry about Pumpkin, but I’m glad they returned her rather than not treat her right or worse.
We are so fond of calicoes around here, and Charlotte is just so gorgeous. It also makes us so very and mad when people expect a newly adopted furbaby to just fit right in to their new home, with no work or patience required. Perhaps it is indeed better that sweet Pumpkin is back at PAWS for now, where she can be around those who understand kitties and the love and patience they need. Well, thank you for sponsoring sweet kitties like Swizzle and Charlotte and hopefully Pumpkin! And thank you for hosting this always fun selfies blog hop!
Charlotte is beautiful. I am glad you are sponsoring her, but I hope she gets her forever home soon.
Charlotte is gorgeous! How nice of you to sponsor her. We bet she’ll find a home quickly. It kinda makes us mad about Pumpkin too. Humans need to be more patient!
Charlotte is so beautiful we hope she gets a loving FOREVER home soon. Same with Pumpkin…..the people that returned them don’t deserve them.
The Florida Furkids with tons and tons of smoochies and loads of love to Mau from Allie
Charlotte is such a beautiful girl and those idiot humans don’t deserve a kitty!
Charlotte is absolutely gorgeous. She is truly beautiful. I love calicoes and Torties of course but she is a stunner! I remember Pumpkin, what a beautiful girl and not having the patience is so sad for Pumpkin but especially for those people who are missing out on a dear little girl’s love as soon as she feels safe. Thank you for sponsoring these babies. I’m not sure what that means in what to do, and I hope you will explain how we might join the effort one day when you have time. If it means featuring them, I can sure do that.
Charlotte is stunning! Hopefully both her and Pumpkin find their homes soon!
We think it is awesome that you are sponsoring Charlotte. She is a lovely girl! It’s too bad about Pumpkin, but sounds like that just wasn’t the right home for her She’ll find a better one, we hope 🙂
I do think a better home awaits that little lass, one that will ultimately with patience see the true flower hidden within the tightly closed bud. purrs ERin
It’s so very kind of you to sponsor kitties the way you do. I love that idea and need to look into it. Charlotte is stunning and we do hope some day Pumpkin will find the purr-fect forever home and be given the chance she deserves to blossom in her own time.
Purrs from Deb and the Zee/Zoey gang
We are sorry that Pumpkin’s adopters were not patient enough to let her adjust at her own pace and get use to them. It must have been horribly upsetting for her to be in a new place with new things all around and so sad that just when she thought she had a family they brought her back.
Charlotte is gorgeous paws crossed she and Pumpkin find a home soon.
Charlotte is beautiful. I hope she finds her forever Mom Furry Soon.
Thats sad when pawrents don’t know abouts being patient with us kitties… Tooks the Mom two years to helps Ellie May stop being a smacky kitty after having a reaction to flea meds… Purrz fur Pumpkin and Charlotte.
-Katie Kat and Katie Kitty Too.
Charlotte is beautiful! We are sorry that Pumpkins peeps brought her back, but we have this philosophy, those peeps weren’t meant to be her furever home because there’s someone else coming to give her a purrfect home, a better peep, a better home one that’s her purrfect match!
And we’re sending prayers to the universe that both kitties get their purrfect match in the furry near future ❤️❤️❤️ the right peeps fur the right kitty ❤️❤️❤️
I, Basil have experience of being returned to the shelter time and time again. In my furst 2 years I had four homes and each time I was returned fur whateffur reason by the peeps that took me. Then one day the the P.A. appeared at my cage and that was it, my purrfect peep had arrived to take me home fureffur. I’ll neffur furget that day when she said, “I’m taking Basil home!” Best day of my life!
Sweetest purrs

Returns to the shelter always make me sad but at least they are SAFE back where they started…..it’s a shame when cats aren’t given a chance to adjust to their surroundings before being “given up on”. We hope Charlotte and Pumpkin get their REAL “forever” very soon! HAPPY SUNDAY……
Love, Angel Sammy
Charlotte definetely has the looks…you know, the female expressionally looks, but also a kind purrsonality. We hope she finds a furrever home soon. I’m so sorry Pumpkin was returned. Poor darling, a little bit more patience probably would have helped 🙁 Good Luck Pawkisses are on the way to find a FURREVER home soon to all the kitties <3 <3 <3
I hope Charlotte will have more luck than the poor Pumpkin, these people are not used to cats and apparently don’t understand them. So it’s better Pumpkin finds another home with more patient people !
Charlotte is lovely! I get so mad when I see stories like Pumpkin’s, where humans don’t have the patience for a kitty to come out of her shell. I mean, why did they bring her “home” in the first place? I know a much better, real home will come along for her – I hope soon!
PS Harvey here Miss Janet.
Thank you for mentioning us specially. It is a point of honour to support the Sunday Selfie. It is a guide that we can follow, enjoy and meet some lovely folks.

OOOOH Why the HECK can’t people have patience? REALLy!!!!!!!
Charlotte I am sorry you were put to so much trouble and did not find it the right home. We hope you do get a new, good and patient home, soon.
That makes me really sad that Pumpkin was returned. Charlotte looks like another sweetheart. Every cat deserves a loving forever home and I’m so glad that there are organizations like PAWS who make that their mission.
Hello Beautiful Charlotte,I am sure you will find a great home soon.
So sad to read the News about Pumpkin but at least she was taken back to PAWS.The right home is out their somewhere for her,xx Speedy
Oh my, Charlotte is lovely! We will keep our paws crossed for her and for Pumpkin.
What a great thing to do for these sweet kits.
XOXO
What a beautiful kitty – how cool that you are sponsoring Charlotte!
I know there is a purr-fect home awaiting her – I hope her “real” parents find her soon!
Blessings to you Janet!
Charlotte is a really nice kitty, and we love her. Thank you so much for sponsoring her. We gave her some pets and sweet talk from you all today. 🙂
Pumpkin seems to be doing okay. I spent some time petting her, and reading to her today. We are sorry this home was not the right fit, but we promise we will love and care for her until she finds her a *real* forever home.
Big hugs!
We are so glad to read that Pumpkin is doing OK, we know she enjoyed you reading to her. We love it when Mommy reads to us.
Charlotte is a beauty!
Charlotte, is a beauty.
Charlotte is absolutely beautiful. I’m glad those peeps brought her back to the shelter instead of…don’t want to think of the alternatives. Peeps are not necessarily patient enough to understand that Charlotte has problems and needs time to resolve these difficulties.
Jean
Charlotte the calico is beyond gorgeous. As you know we have THE weakest stop for da sweet calicos! Sending good vibes to a stunning kitty for a forever home who really “gets” her!
