Week #17
Once again, I am participating in Annie’s (McGuffy’s Reader) and Ellen’s (15 And Meowing) Friendly Fill-ins. This is a blog hop, and you can add your link on Annie’s blog. My fill-ins are in teal italics.
1. My favorite way to exercise is cycling or swimming.
2. Something I learned last week was about a cool web-site for lovers of all things cat: iheartcats.com. So what makes this site different from others, you ask? For every item purchased a certain number of daily meals are provided to shelters across the U.S. through a partnership with Rescue Bank®. As stated on the iheartcats website: “Rescue Bank® supports freight-paid deliveries to smaller, less visible non-profits that have limited access to resources. They operate on the national food bank model, accepting food donations from many manufacturers, distributors or retailers.”
But this is not just a shopping site. They also offer health and training advice, DIY projects and inspirational stories.
3. I am sentimental about the kitties I have loved and lost. I think about all of them often and remember their quirks and foibles. Thelma was the first cat on my head, and she would chew on my hair. The hair on the crown of my head ended up being about two inches long.
Thelma loved the water left over after I steamed broccoli.
Madison was a fanatic for the juice from green olives from the deli.
Chloe would always put a front paw on whatever plate or dish from which she was eating to keep it from escaping. And she was a member of the clean plate club!

Chloe
Madison and MacKenzie joined our household at just about the same time, and they were the best of friends. I loved watching them together. You can read an entire post about them here.
These are just a few of the memories that always make me smile and miss these angels all the more.
4. Some people may find it surprising to know that I was a dog person until we adopted our first cat, Skooter, in the mid-eighties. I adopted a cock-a-poo puppy (Smack) when I was a sophomore in college, and Tom and I adopted what was supposed to be a cock-a-poo puppy (Poppy) shortly before we were married. They both lived into their late teens. (Sorry I have no photos on this computer to share with you. I will scan some and share in another post.)
We will see you right back here tomorrow for Caturday Art.
Sweet posts and memories. They’re just never very far from us at any time. <3
That was an interesting set of answers! Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us:)
We should check out that web-site.
Great answers for the questions. Hope you’re having a wonderful weekend!
This sounds like some sweet memories of kitties who made it on to Rainbow Bridge.
Those are all cute kitties. Mommy ‘members her furmer kitties too and misses them all. She had been a doggy purrson all her life too. She met and petted her very furst kitty ever when she was 18 or 19 years old. Befur dat da only kitties she had been exposed to was da alley cat her grammaw fed to keep away da mice. And all she ever saw was eyes in da night and a flicker of a tail when she was tossin’ out da left overs on da weekend. She says she thinks he was purrobably a gray tabby based on da tail. MOL
Luv ya’

I would have a dog but I am too lazy. Cats are my ideal pet.
Great fill in responses. We enjoyed reading more about the cats that came before. Our dad guy was more of a dog person until he met the mom. He had a dog, Sam. Now he is definitely a cat guy!
My mum and dad were both brought up with cats and dogs. When they got married they soon realised they were more cat people than dog.
Mes thinks some peoples is PET peoples, they loves woofies and cats (and bunnies and birds). And mes thinks that is what yous is! Loves the stories about the before cats and your answers to the Friday Fill-ins!
Kisses

We loved to read your answers and know more about your first cats. Purrs
Such great answers! I’m a dog and cat person – grew up with dogs because my dad isn’t a cat person, but got a cat when I got my first apartment and have always had them…then got a dog who was the best dog ever, who crossed over the Rainbow Bridge at 14. Now we have both cats and dogs (4 cats, 3 dogs) who all get along famously. Well, except the oldest biggest cat, who looks at the cats with great disdain and gives them a very wide berth. 😉
Have a great weekend!
We didn’t know you used to be a dog person, so we learned a new thing today!
We loved your answers and hearing about your first kitties. Such sweet memories!
Mac looks like Buster’s long lost cousin! You are lucky to have been loved by many cats.
We enjoyed your answers. There used to be dogs here too.
I think we all have had other type of pets, when I was growing up we always had dogs then later I had a cat ,a dog and a rabbit and now I just have a rabbit but I would have cats and dogs and more rabbits if I had the money,xx Rachel
Awesome answers! iheartcats sounds so neat … we will check them out. As for your answer for number four, I always loved cats as a child, but could never have one because I was severely allergic. So I was a dog, rabbit, guinea pig, hamster, lizard and fish person until my allergies one day became a lot less severe. 🙂

Thank you for participating in the fill-ins, great answers. I was a dog person too until I got married 🙂 Your angel kitties are all beautiful, especially Chloe( I love calicos). They are all so unique and special. I will check out I heart cats. Have a great weekend! XO
What wonderful fill-ins! I have never heard of iheartcats.com, but I will certainly be visiting it now. Thank you for sharing it with us! And, I loved learning more about your furry angels. Such sweet, fond memories you have of them. Purrs to all of you!
That’s a wonderful site and thanks for pointing the way………..!! Love all the photos – they are just so sweet. Mac and Madison are quite the snuggle partners. You have so many memories from so many cats in the past as well as the present – many reminders of how very special and unique felines are. Sam reminds me of that every day.
Hugs, Pam
You were a DOG person?! Before cats, my human was a… lizard and snake person! She was not the usual kid. She has never warmed up much to dogs.
I love the photo of Mac and Madison!
Just checked out Iheartcats! Thank you for the recommendation! I know that ache for the souls of those who’ve come before. When people don’t understand, I always point out how much “cat” Bear is … how he fills my life in so many ways … if any cat COULD fill the hole, it would be Bear … but he does not. He’s fantastic and I cherish every moment – he’s probably even my soul cat – but the ache remains 🙁
You are my soul sister! We think and feel so much alike. I could have written these so closely to what you said. I fact, we are both sentimental about our furbabies loved and lost. I am still a dog person,as it is one side of my soul. I like i❤cats and i❤dogs, too. Big hugs. I❤YOU, too.
i❤dogs is the sister site to i❤cats.
Excuse my typos. It is late. Hugs.
