EASY LIKE EASTER SUNDAY

We totally expected to spend an absolutely raucous day playing with all the new toys from the Easter Bunny. But, guess what? No new toys! Did you get that? NO NEW TOYS!

When we inquired ever so politely as to why the Bunny passed us by, we were told that: 1) we have enough toys, 2) there’s a recession and 3) because of #2 the E.B. could only bring toys to the kitties who don’t have as many as we do.

We know we can be a little greedy, but there are eight of us, and what may look like a lot of toys really isn’t if you divide them eight ways. We thought that was a pretty good argument as to why Mom should run out to the pet store and pick up a few things the Bunny should have brought us. She didn’t buy that argument and said that she was not going to the store.

To try to show us that we have lots and lots of toys, Mom took this photo of our toy basket. (All the bright colors actually make it look a little like an Easter basket.) Then she reminded us that more toys can be found under the bed, dressers and various kitchen appliances. She said that if this wasn’t enough proof for us, we should consider our scratchers, toys hanging from our kitty trees and our fling-ama-string.

We still weren’t convinced and as a result much whining, caterwauling and general unrest ensued. In a rather inept way of making it up to us, Mom said we could have some catnip. We do love a little nip and so agreed to the compromise. As if we had a choice.

So what we thought would be a busy day playing has turned into just another easy Sunday with lots of napping, some drooling and, in Giulietta’s case, snoring. Additionally, it is raining and we are not being allowed to go outside.

Happy Easter (hope all of you got some goodies) with purrs and hugs, Lily Olivia, Misty May, Mauricio, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Josette

P.S. After rolling around in the nip, Giulietta had an attack of sneezies. And following a mini cat fit, Lily Olivia had an episode of projectile vomiting. Bet Mommy wishes the E.B. had brought us new toys.
