No Freedom, No Peace
Kitties Blue and I are participating in the 17th annual Blog4Peace (aka Blog Blast for Peace). The event originated in 2006 with Mimi Lennox as its founder.
This year’s theme is No Freedom, No Peace. Ms. Lennox has written a very thoughtful and thought-provoking post with regard to this. I suggest you read it by clicking on the link above.
Our world currently is in turmoil from the war in Ukraine to the political unrest right here in the United States. Add to that the disagreement and distress over immigration policies, the gun violence and mass killings of innocent citizens and the COVID virus, I find it difficult to feel free. In fact, I nthink very hard now before I leave my house as to whether or not I really need to do so. I avoid crowds at all costs. And yet those of us who live in the United States are very fortunate.
This year I am additionally sending prayers for the citizens of Ukraine. They are being terrorized and killed and their country destroyed at the behest of a despot. They deserve to have their peace and freedom restored.
Prayers also go out to the civilians of Afghanistan, who under the restoration of Taliban rule have seen the small amount of progress made toward improving the rights of women reversed. Additionally, rights to freedom of assembly and expression have been significantly diminished. Healthcare, which was drastically compromised by the COVID pandemic, has been undermined by the suspension of international aid. They too deserve to have their peace and freedom restored.
Finally, each year I close my Blog4Peace post with the same wish.
“TODAY BOTH THE KITTIES AND THE HUMANS AT THE CAT ON MY HEAD JOIN BLOGGERS
WORLDWIDE WHO DREAM OF AND PRAY FOR PEACE FOR ALL THE PEOPLE AND ANIMALS
OF THIS EARTH. MAY EACH OF YOU FIND YOUR OWN INNER PEACE AS WELL.”
I share your compassion for the suffering all over the world, human and beyond-human. I have lived a long life and things have never been this bad – in so many ways, all at once. We have never needed wisdom, peace and kindness more. Let’s hope for a better year ahead.
Thank you for mentioning other areas of the world in conflict as well. While our focus is understandably on Ukraine and all the fear it brings, many other parts of the world still suffer. The theme of FREEDOM has been an interesting read this BlogBlast. It made me analyze how I’m contributing to my own bondage – my thoughts, my habits, negative patterns and what steps I can take to remain FREE within myself.
So much depth here. Thank you for blogging for peace. Your globe is spectacular!!

Sharing peaceful thoughts on this and every day ~
I am reminded of the song made famous some years ago, “Let there be peace on earth, and let it begin with me.” Lord, give us peace.
Everything is a mess right now and can only hope things start to turn for the better,
This is a wonderful post and Mimi’s Blog For Peace has been a staple in the blogging community for years. Your words echo in our hearts – we wouldn’t even attempt to say it as well as you have! All we are saying is GIVE PEACE A CHANCE.
Hugs, Pam
We too pray for peace in our world.
