Thankful Thursday
Each week we try to reflect on what has happened the past seven days and share those things for which we are thankful.
As this winter drags on, Kizmet and Misty May are thankful for Dad Tom’s warm lap.
Cooper Murphy is delighted and thankful he was able to spend the day before Valentine’s Day with his beautiful girlfriend, Canadian Cat Tyebe. They got all dressed up and attended the Hearts and Flowers dinner dance at Cat Scouts.
Dad Tom again tested negative for COVID, after his most recent exposure, for which we are most thankful.
As we are each week, everyone here at the Kitties Blue house, including the humans, are thankful for your friendship, support and kind comments. We do our best to keep you entertained, and we appreciate it every time you visit us.
Thankful Thursday is a blog hop hosted by Brian. To participate post on you blog for what you are thankful and then click on his badge to join the hop.
Thoroughly Poetic Thursday
If it’s Thursday, it’s time for some poetry. Thoroughly Poetic Thursday is hosted by our pals, Angel Sammy and Teddy over at Two Spoiled Cats. They provide an inspiration photo, and participants provide a poem.
Here’s this week’s photo followed by my poem.
Danger Zone
Is this an antique store
Or a hoarder’s house—
This cluttered hodgepodge?
Buddha, fu dogs, Mickey Mouse,
Crystal chandeliers, Bakelite phones,
Clocks and vases of every
Color, shape and size—
A huge eclectic collection
With years of accumulated dust.
Just one sneeze could send down
An avalanche of tumbling stuff,
Burying the curious browser.
Treasures may be hidden among
This intriguing collection,
But I’ll stay on the sidewalk
Safe and sound, marveling at
This outrageous sight from afar.

After completing this poem, it crossed my mind that quirky shops like this often have a resident cat. In this instance, I certainly hope that isn’t true. With all the places to hide and the precarious placement of objects, I fear kitty would have a short life.
If you’d like to try writing some poetry, check out Two Spoiled Cats on Thursdays for the following week’s inspiration photo. And while you’re visiting, please read Angel Sammy’s poem. It is always terrific. You can click on the poetry badge to go there now.
Dad’s Warm Lap Thankful – The Cat On My Head
Thank you, dad. Your warm lap gives me the extra feeling of hope that I might have a chance to survive this day or another. That the world can continue turning without me out here at your side because you can keep going on and the kids don’t ever think they are the reason. There is so much hope in the air, so little time to go. Dad’s voice is warm in my ear encouraging. And now it feels like there could be a few minutes of hope before he leaves again. Maybe he can get one last hug from mom, his wife who has been through worse then this one. Because dad is an amazing man. He loves and supports you so deeply. But now, you might start to see the cracks in each other and just remember, there are always choices to make. Even if you live through things that nobody expects, they will happen because life is unfair sometimes and you can lose people. You can miss loved ones. Some losses just come with losing things that we cherish. Mom is alive in her eyes. She can’t reach the bottom too far and her face is still trying to…
Great poem, and so fitting. Maybe hoarder should just put price tags on everything and open their doors!
Cooper Murphy, you and Tyebe look boss! We bet you had a great time.
Yay for negative C tests! Woo hoo!
XOX Xena, Lucy and Chia
Those are wonderful thankfuls and hooray for that negative Covid test. Awesome poem too. Thanks for joining our Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!
Good things to be thankful for…especially Dad Tom’s negative test.
Nice pictures, and what great news that Dad Tom tested negative ! Cheers and Meows from us!
It’s still a Covid minefield out there, even two years later. I’m glad the male human is negative.

Great poem.
Laps are good places for kitties to be and they all have their favorite laps. Glad dad tested negative. Great news.
Love your poem.
Have a fabulous Thankful Thursday. Scritches all around, a smooch to Cooper Murphy and Sawyer and a big hug to mom. ♥
We hope there isn’t a cat hidden in there somewhere. Yay for a negative test for Dad Tom. His lap sure seems to be in demand for naps.
We see that you mentioned Mickey Mouse like Teddy did…we can’t find him.
The Florida Furkids with love and whisker kisses to Sawyer from Noelle
Gosh, even to try to get through there to see things seems impossible. But I love it!
SCORE! That’s a fabulous poem for this photo…..and I looked hard for a cat and couldn’t find one but it would have to be UNDER a table with some protection I suppose. I’d be afraid to walk around this place – with my luck I’d wind up UNDER something like the resident cat! Good job – super poem. Love the photos of Dad Tom keeping at least two of your kitties WARM and cozy.
Hugs, Pam and Teddy too
There seems to not even be any space for a person to walk! I didn’t see any kitties, Phew!
Glad that Dad Tom tested negative. Its always a relief to know.
We are also thankful that we know you all! We try to visit as often as we can…though since we are SO behind we are just going to catch up from here…
Enjoy lots of warm lap time!
