KITTIES BLUE CELEBRATE A BELATED TOCK-TOBER

Tock-Tober

We are appalled, outraged and downright ashamed of our ditzy and forgetful mom. So, what’s with all this consternation, you ask? Yesterday was Tock-Tober. Did she remember? NO! We think she needs a brain transplant. If anyone knows where she can get one, please let us know.

She did share an early Tock-Tober shot of Cooper Murphy. If you missed Cooper’s enormous tocks, you can view them at “Tock-Tober Comes Early & Fill-Ins.” We don’t think that is good enough to give her a pass, so here are a few other tocks.

Purrs & paw-pats, Misty May, Astrid, Lisbeth, Calista Jo, Cooper Murphy, Sawyer, Kizmet, Audrey & Raleigh

Now that Kitties Blue have thoroughly chastised me, it’s time for fill-ins as well as the Feline and Friendship Friday blog hops.

Friendly Fill-Ins

Friendly Fill-ins is a blog hop hosted by Ellen (15 And Meowing) and Lorianne (Four-Legged- Furballs). If you’d like to participate, check out either of their blogs on Thursday for the sentences to be filled in. You can join the hop by clicking on their badge.

I can always depend on Sawyer when I need help with the fill-ins, and he did his part this week with #4. We both used teal italics for our fill-ins. Explanatory information is in parentheses.

1. Every October, I try to get photos of at least some of Kitties Blue tocks, even if I don’t get them posted on the correct day.

2. If I were going to a costume party, I would go as a cat (duh). (If you’d like to vote on the costumes Stinky and Periwinkle will wear on their next adventure, you can do so by leaving a comment on their post: “The Adventures of Stinky & Periwinkle: Part CLVI.”)

3. “Little Red Riding Hood” is my favorite scary story. (I am obviously a wimp when it comes to being frightened.)

4. Sawyer: I would find a vault somewhere and lock myself in, making certain I had several wheelbarrows full of treats, if there were a zombie apocalypse.

Feline/Friendship Friday

Our participants in Tock-Tober, Audrey, Raleigh and Sawyer, also will be joining the Feline and Friendship Friday blog hops hosted by Comedy Plus and Create With Joy respectively.

Giveaway

This is your final reminder about our giveaway for the book, How Snowball Stole Christmas, by Kristin McKanagh. If you’d like the opportunity to win it, visit the post, “Christmas Comes Early.” Leave a comment there before 5 p.m. ET today. The winner will be announced on Sunday.

Thanks for coming to visit us. We’ll have some Caturday Art for you tomorrow.

TOCK-TOBER COMES EARLY & FILL-INS

Feline/Friendship Friday

Cooper Murphy is here with an early Tock-Tober tocks shot. And, wow, those are some mighty big tocks!

tock-tober comes early: photo of a very large ginger tabby cat's buttocks!

Cooper Murphy will be participating in the Feline Friday and Friendship Friday blog hops at Comedy Plus and Create With Joy, respectively.

Friendly Fill-Ins

Two of the Kitties Blue and I are joining the Friendly Fill-ins blog hop hosted by Ellen (15 And Meowing) and Lorianne (Four-Legged- Furballs). To do the same, check out either of their blogs on Thursday for the sentences to be filled in. You can join the hop by clicking on their badge.

When I began filling in this week, I knew Raleigh and Audrey had a great fill-in for #4, so I asked for their assistance. They were happy to have the opportunity to help. And I thank them. We all used teal italics for our fill-ins. Explanatory information is in parentheses.

1.  Seven cats and two kittens keeps me on my toes.

2. I know it’s going to be a bad day when I step in cat puke in my bare feet first thing in the morning.

3. To me, fire is one of the scariest things in the world. (It is actually the thing I fear most.)

4. Raleigh and Audrey: Believe it or not, the vacuum doesn’t scare me us.

We’ll see you all tomorrow for some Caturday Art.

KITTIES BLUE: NOT FANS OF TOCK-TOBER

Wordy on Wednesday

Every October, we try to keep our butts on the floor, especially if we see Mom with her phone or iPad. We really are not big fans of showing off our “tocks;” though, it seems to be a popular thing to do on the interwebs. Mom did get a few tocks photos. Luckily for us, she’s a pretty lousy photographer. Anyhoo, here are this year’s blurry photos of three unlucky Kitties Blue.

Tock-Tober not fans

She had to let Sawyer stick his face in the ice cream carton to get his fuzzy behind. You’d think he’d be easy not having a tail!

I you are celebrating Tock-Tober, click on the badge to visit Ducky and let him know.

Though we’ve been a bit wordy, we are going to enter the Wordless Wednesday blog hop at Comedy Plus. You can do the same by clicking on the WW badge.

THE ADVENTURES OF STINKY & PERIWINKLE: PART LIV

Tock-Tober

Tock-Tober

Stinky is sitting by the teleportation tunnel waiting for Periwinkle. Tuesday is his favorite day of the week, as they always get to spend it together doing something fun. Soon Periwinkle arrives with the usual whoosh and falls into his waiting paws. After several minutes hugging and sharing whisker kisses, Periwinkle asks about today’s adventure.

“We are going to celebrate Tock-Tober,” Stinky tells Periwinkle.

“Stinky, do you actually understand what Tock-Tober is about?”

“Yeah, sort of. There was this cat named Derby who really liked to show off his buttocks.”

“Buttocks?”

“Yeah, you know, butt, tocks, @$$ cheeks.”

“Hey wait a minute,“ Periwinkle interrupts, “are you supposed to say @$$? I don’t think your mom would like that. This is a family adventure after all.”

“So what should I say?” asks Stinky.

“I think heinie or backside are okay,” replies Periwinkle.

“Okay, this cat, from what I have heard, Derby, liked to show off his heinie, so his birthday on October 20 became a holiday named Tock-Tober. It is celebrated all over the blogosphere; though, Derby is now at the Rainbow Bridge. His brother Ducky and lots of other pets continue to celebrate in his memory.”

“So, what are we supposed to do?” asks Periwinkle.

“We are supposed to display our heinies for all to see,“ says Stinky.

“Well that sounds sort of rude, don’t you think?”

“I don’t know. For some reason humans seem to like it,” replies Stinky.

“Are you going to share your backside, Stinky?” asks Periwinkle, then stops herself and adds, ”Hey, without a tail your heinie is always out there for the world to see.”

“Yep, that’s right, unless I am sitting on it! And I think it is pretty darn cute. So, yes, I am going to show it off, especially as most of my furblings are too chicken to share their tocks. However, I did catch a few heinie photos of them I plan to share.”

“Well then let’s have a look,“ says Periwinkle.

Tock-Tober

“Let’s see if I can figure out to which of your fursibs these heinies belong: Lisbeth, Calista Jo, Misty May and Cooper Murphy.”

“Bingo,” says Stinky and adds with a chuckle, “You sure know your backsides!”

Periwinkle gives him a withering look and says, “Okay, Stinky, time to show me your tocks.”

“I will, but first I have some others to share. One of our cheeky squirrels…”

Before Stinky can finish, Periwinkle starts giggling hysterically and barely chokes out, “Hey, cheeky as in @$$ cheeks.” She then gasps and claps her paw over her mouth. When she takes it away she says, “Oops. sorry!”

Stinky just giggles. He knows Periwinkle can be a bit impulsive sometimes. He then shows off the photo of his friend.

Tock-Tober

“Wow, that is some fabulous tail. He’s sort of lucky as it really masks his actual tocks. Okay Stinky, your turn,” says Periwinkle.

“Ta da,” exclaims Stinky.

Stinky, you have the cutest heinie,” squeals Periwinkle. She adds, “The little ghost was a nice touch. So that was fun, but I am ready for a snack.”

“First I have one more very cute backside to share with you,” says Stinky.

Periwinkle gives him a puzzled look, as Stinky hands her one final photo.

“Hey, where did you get that? I said I didn’t want to show my tocks,” Periwinkle says while scowling at Stinky.

“Oh Noelle, your mom already showed this on your blog a couple of years ago, and it is all in good fun. Besides, you have a beautiful heinie and a fabulous tail.”

Blushing, Noelle gives Stinky a big hug and whispers in his ear that she forgives him his indiscretion.

“So you aren’t mad at me?” asks Stinky.

“I could never be m/ad at you. I am just a wee bit embarrassed.”

“You definitely have no reason to be embarrassed and if you are, you really need to get over it, as it is time for us to head over to the Tabby Cat Club for their Tock-Tober celebration,” Stinky tells Periwinkle.

“Oh, I forgot about that. Can we get a snack before we go?”

“Of course,” says Stinky and leads Periwinkle to the kitchen.

The End

If you are members of the Tabby Cat Club, you can catch up with Stinky and Periwinkle there later today. If you’re not a member, you can find our terrific tabby twosome next Tuesday at Friends Furever. Stinky and Periwinkle and all the Kitties Blue wish everyone a fun Tock-Tober!

Periwinkle and Stinky also are joining the Happy Tuesday blog hop at Comedy Plus.

TOCK-TOBER SELFIE

Sunday Selfies: Week #271

Kitties Blue are even less keen on having tock photos taken as they are on taking selfies. I can follow each of them around all year, and if I am lucky, get one or two photos. My best opportunity for securing a tock’s photo is to catch one of the kitties sleeping. And that is exactly what I have for you this year.

With no tail, Sawyer cannot cover up his little tocks, which does leave him as the prime target. So, for the second Tock-tober in a row, he’s the lucky participant in this holiday. And as an added attraction, he gives you toe beans!

As it is pretty difficult for anyone to take a selfie of their tocks, we are going off script this week with an unselfie. You are welcome to share a photo of your tocks or a traditional selfie.

Now here are those hopping tips.

Let’s Hop

If you are a new visitor to The Cat on My Head or to blog hops, here are a few tips for joining in and linking up.

  • The link to add your selfie to the hop is below.
  • You also will find below the code to use if you’d like the hop to appear on your blog.
  • Posting on Sundays is not necessary to join.
  • You do not need to be a cat to enter. All anipals are welcome regardless of species.
  • The hop remains open for entries through Thursday midnight.
  • Please be so kind as to display our badge and/or link to The Cat on My Head.
  • Take the opportunity to visit some of the other hop-alongs and make some new friends or reconnect with some old ones.

Thanks for joining us and supporting our blog hop. If this is your first time here, welcome. We hope you return often.

Wishing all an easy Sunday and a very merry Tock-tober.

MISTY MAY’S SNOOZY ART WITH TOE BEANS

Caturday Art

I scrolled through the archives again this week to find a photo for Caturday Art. This photo of Misty May is from January 2015.

I used my tried-and-true formula again for this arty creation. I started with Painnt and used the Gear effect. From there I went to piZap and added the Star Party filter at about 50 percent. The border was done with Picasa.

Misty May is so cute in the original photo, I am including it. After all, who can resist a great toe bean shot?””

Tocktober Sunday Selfie Reminder

Tomorrow is the day to officially celebrate Tocktober. In view of that, whichever of the Kitties Blue decide to be your host, that cat will not be showing his or her face. However, it is not necessary for any of you who join us to link to a “tock” photo, but it is an option should you like to do so.

Whatever you decide to share with us, we look forward to seeing you tomorrow.

TOCK-TOBER ART

Caturday Art

Sawyer Tock-tober - Art

My Tock-tober photo was used to create today’s art. I was promised a Tock-tober companion, but our artist mom seems to have forgotten in which file she saved the other photos. So I am all alone here today.

Our art is abstract as Mom thinks my Tock-tober photo is a tad graphic; though, I think it is darn adorable.

We usually like to tell you how we created our art, but we can’t imagine you would want to reproduce something like it. I’ll just let you know that a combo of Painnt/piZap/Picasa was used.

I am entering the Caturday Art blog hop over at Athena Gat Goddess Wise Kitty’s site. If you’d like to join in the fun, click on her badge.

Here’s the original Tock-tober photo. I was perusing the sink in the hope of finding some noms. No luck!

I think you’ll agree that I have some super cute, little tocks. Being tailless helps to show them off.

Sunday Selfies Reminder

Tomorrow is our weekly blog hop. So as not to interrupt your easy or any other plans you may have for tomorrow, why not get your selfie taken care of right now. If you know any other bloggers you think might enjoy showing off how adorable they are, invite them to join us. I have no idea who will be hosting tomorrow, so you’ll need to stop in to see.

Until then…

COOPER MURPHY’S 1ST TOCK-TOBER

Tock-Tober

The majority of us know to keep our bums away from the camera, especially during the month of October. One of us kitties, however, did not join our ranks until last January, so he is ignorant with regard to the Tock-Tober tradition. Cooper Murphy has no clue, but we are fairly certain if he did, it wouldn’t matter. He’s pretty much of an exhibitionist at all times. At this very moment he is lying on is back with legs akimbo, exposing himself. For the remainder of us, this is a good thing. We didn’t have to worry about keeping our rears to the rear, so to speak!

For his first Tock-Tober Cooper Murphy did find a clueless friend to share the spotlight. And Cooper’s photo is somewhat modest for him.

If you are new to blogging and unfamiliar with Tock-Tober, here’s a bit about it. And if you don’t know, “tocks” are your buttocks!

Click on the badge to be taken to Ducky and Angel Derby’s blog.

Normally, we would be joining Annie (McGuffy’s Reader) and Ellen (15 And Meowing) for Friendly Fill-Ins, but we didn’t want to dilute the importance of this International holiday. We hope they will accept our apologies. Mom says we can include the fill-ins with our Caturday Art tomorrow.

We know many of you have been showing off your tocks all month, but we hope to see lots more of them today.

Happy Birthday at the bridge, Derby. We hope you are looking down on all of us with a big smile your face.

THE TOCK-TOBER SURROGATE

Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

Today we are participating in Sammy’s Thoroughly Poetic Thursday as well as celebrating Tock-tober*.

tocktober-2

Unfortunately this month’s prompt letter for our poem is an “S” and not a “T.” But never fear, we have combined a Tock-Tober post with an “s” prompt poem.

THE TOCK-TOBER SURROGATE

Today the blogospere celebrates Tock-tober.
It comes every year on the 20th of October.
The humans follow us around for weeks before
Trying to catch us with our buttocks off the floor.
But when we see the camera, we sit right down.
We will not show our rear ends all over town.
Even nommy treats won’t work as a bribe.
There are just certain things we’d rather hide.
So Kitty Blue booties you will not see;
Even though, we know you’d surely squeee.

Tock-Tober

The humans got a surrogate to do the flashing,
Giving us a reason for much teeth gnashing.
That damn cheeky squirrel readily agreed
To give the humans whatever they need.
He’ll wag his tail and wriggle his butt
For nothing more than his daily cut
Of all the sunflower seeds he can eat…
Not even asking for any additional treat.
We think this guy is nothing but one big showoff
Who, if we had our way, the humans would blow off.
No matter what this brazen fellow agreed to do,
We’d rather see him in a pot of squirrel stew.

Once again a damn squirrel is on our blog,
So we think we’ll give him the title of the blog hog.
Though he’ll have to wrestle Mau for this moniker,
We think he’ll agree the reason is totally clear:
The squirrel thinks our humans love him the most
And that he should be the subject of every post.
He doesn’t believe that Kitties Blue rule,
And he plans to use the humans as his personal tool
To get all the attention and acclaim he craves,
But he better watch out or we’ll send him to his grave!
So, this is our Tock-tober tale of woe
With just one thing we want you to know:
Kitties Blue won’t go down without a fight.
This is our blog and we know what is right.
But we won’t show you even one kitty ass
‘Cause we Kitties Blue have too much class!

Kitties Blue say NO MORE SQUIRRELS on their cat blog. Well, at least, not until next January’s Squirrel Appreciation Day.

OUR TURN TO CELEBRATE TOCK-TOBER

Tocktober 2015 with Lily Olivia

Mom has been following us around all month trying to photograph our tocks. We find that type of behavior to be rude and distasteful, and we have been totally uncooperative. Don’t get us wrong—we are not ashamed of our tocks. Flaunting them in public, however, is not our idea of a good time. We realized that to show them honors the memory of Derby, who created Tock-tober, so we knew one of us would have to back up to the camera eventually. As seven of us protested, Lily Olivia stepped up and took one for the team. She said that at her age, she can do whatever she wants and no one will care or criticize. So, here’s Lily in all her calico, tocktolicious glory!

Lily Olivia, calico, tocks, Tock-tober.

Personally we think her tocks are just okay. But we give her high marks for the varied tail positions and total disregard for propriety! Most of all, we each give her a high paw for saving our tocks by showing hers.

WAY TO GO LILY OLIVIA!
