MEOW LIKE A PIRATE DAY 2018

Not So Wordless Wednesday

The boys are participating in Meow Like a Pirate Day. The girls said they were not interested this year.

Says who? Whoever said that was lying. We girls think it is super cool to be pirates.

The boys are all dressed and ready to go. You girls seem to be sitting around in your furs.

We don’t need costumes to swill grog and rum and search for buried treasure.

Not dressing up sort of takes the fun out of it don’t you think?

Arrgh! I guess you’re right. So here I am in my costume.

Pirate cat Misty May

Do you have a pirate name?

Of course; though, I think whomever came up with it must have been blind. I am known as Calico Mary Kidd. It’s obvious I’m a tuxie not a calico.

Do any of the other girls wish to join you as a pirate?

I guess not…maybe that rumor about not participating wasn’t so far from the truth.

Should we check out the boys and see if they are dressed for the activities?

Yeah…why not.

Pirate cats: Cooper Murphy, Mau, Sawyer

Wow, they sure look like swashbucklers. I wonder what their pirate names are?

We are Captain Roger Kidd, Captain Sparrow the Funkmaster and Iron Davy Rackham.

Yo ho ho and a bottle of milk. Mau says I’m too young for rum or grog and that I cannot drink alcohol with my medication. Pffft! Oops, I mean Arrgh.

Do you scalawags have a ship?

As a matter of fact we do. Unfortunately it is in need of repairs, as you can see. We are disgruntled landlubbers for now.

Due to our inability to set sail and pillage some villages, we are setting off for some parties. Captain Roger Kidd and Iron Davy Rackham are heading over to the Tabby Cat Club, and later Captain Roger Kidd will join me at Cat Scouts.

What about Calico Mary Kidd? Are you taking her with you?

I guess she can tag along with us to Cat Scouts

Gee, thanks, Captain Jack Sparrow Funkmaster. So kind of you.

Have fun today! Don’t get yourselves into any trouble.

Arrgh! Arrgh! Arrgh! Arrgh!

Though we have not been wordless today, we are joining the blog hops at Create with Joy and Comedy Plus.

FELIZ CINCO DE MEOW 2018

Cinco de Meow

We’ll be doing Caturday Art today, but we are beginning by celebrating this fun holiday.

The boys are taking center stage today, as they will be celebrating at Cat Scouts (Mau and Cooper Murphy) and the Tabby Cat Club (Cooper Murphy and Sawyer). They have joined forces to send this greeting to all of our friends.

Cinco de Meow

I swear, these cats have way more fun than Dad Tom and I do.

Caturday Art

Sawyer and Lisbeth have taken over our art today. This is just one of a series of amusing photos featuring the two.

I used four apps to create today’s art, beginning with the Vega effect in Painnt. Next I used the Surreal effect and the Blurred border from Lunapic. The white and scrolled edge were added with piZap and the solid border with Picasa.

It may be difficult to determine what is actually happening in the photo, so here’s the original.

Dad Tom thinks Sawyer looks as if he’s horking after a night of drinking. MOUSES! Maybe he’s been sneaking meowgaritas. If I find out he has been drinking, that kid is grounded.

Lisbeth was resting comfortably in the sphere when Sawyer decided to jump onto the top. After peering in and finding Lisbeth, the two enjoyed a bout of smacky paws. Sawyer finally grew bored, as kittens tend to do, jumped down and went in search of more mischief.

Sawyer and Lisbeth are joining Athena Cat Goddess Wise Kitty’s Caturday Art blog hop. To participate in the hop or view the art created by your fellow bloggers, click on Athena’s badge.

Sunday Selfies Reminder

Another week has flown by, and it is time to start thinking about your selfie for tomorrow. Lisbeth has volunteered to return tomorrow as your host for the blog hop. We look forward to seeing all our old friends and maybe some new ones as well.

Until then…celebrate responsibly today.

A SPARK OF LOVE FROM TABBY CATS

Sparks: Week #30

A Spark of Love from Tabby cats.

My reason for selecting this quote for today’s Spark was prompted by yesterday’s post and Allie and Mau’s love for each other. And with today being National Tabby Day, it seemed appropriate to share this photo of Sawyer and Cooper Murphy. They are best friends and obviously love each other.

I apologize for the fuzzy photo, and hope you can overlook that.

I always like to tell you a little something about the author of the quote. According to Chinese tradition, Lao Tzu (often simply referred to as Laozi) was a 6th century BCE mystic philosopher. He is best known as the author of the Tao Te Ching. This association has led him to be traditionally considered the founder of Taoism. He also is revered as a deity in most religious forms of the Taoist religion. Laos, translated literally from Chinese, means “old master” or “old one,” and is generally considered honorific.

Sawyer, Cooper Murphy and I are joining Annie at McGufffy’s Reader for her Sparks blog hop. In establishing the hop, Annie wrote, “I believe we are meant to be lights in this world. If we allow our light to shine, we can see where we are going. It is then that we can begin to truly see each other clearly. Together, we can light up the entire world!”

This is what makes Sparks so special and why I look forward to participating each week.

If you’d like to join the hop, click on the Sparks badge.

Tabby Cat Club

Sawyer and Cooper Murphy are members of the Tabby Cat Club and will be celebrating National Tabby Day there. If you are a tabby and a member, they’ll see you there. And if you’re a tabby and don’t belong, stop by and check out the fun.

NAUGHTY BOY SELFIE

Sunday Selfies: Week #180

If you missed yesterday’s post, you are unaware that our mom volunteered me as your host for today’s Sunday Selfies post. You probably think that it is because I am totally adorable. But you’d be wrong…not when it comes to my adorableness but for the reason I was volunteered.

Dad Tom and Mom think I was naughty on Friday night and that taking a selfie would be my punishment. First of all, I do not think I was naughty but just a bit impulsive. And secondly, I’m happy to take a selfie. Like I said, “I am adorable.”

Naughty boy hosts Sunday Selfies

Now, look at that face. I am totally innocent looking, so how how could I have been naughty. I only slipped out the front door and went under Mom’s car to play a little, It was dark out, but I swear I didn’t plan to run off anywhere. I was just getting a little fresh air. Okay, I know I can do that on the catio, but I just needed to see if the air is fresher in front of the house. That’s totally reasonable, don’t you think?

I’ll admit my plan had one major flaw. I made my escape at dinnertime! Mom thought if she told me it was dinnertime, I would sprint right back in the house. Nope. I’m not that easy. It took the promise of treats and Dad dangling my wand toy in front of me until he was able to scoop me up. I wasn’t pleased by the outcome, but at least I didn’t miss my dinner. The treats, however, were left on the front porch. he skunks probably found them.

So, anyhoo, I am here as your host today.

Tabby Cat Club

I liked this selfie so much, I used it for my Tabby Cat Club I.D. as well. I wanted to join Cat Scouts with Mau and Cooper Murphy, but Mom says that isn’t going to happen. She claims that Cat Scouts takes a lot of time and effort. She thinks I wouldn’t help her. Hmmm…she’s probably right! I’m a kitten and extremely busy. So I have joined Cooper Murphy at TCC.

Health Update

Again, if you didn’t drop by yesterday, you don’t know that Mau has the eye icks! He went to the vet yesterday morning and is now getting meds and eye ointment along with Calista Jo. Mom and Dad caught his infection a bit more quickly, so he didn’t have a high fever or need fluids. So we could us a few more purrs, prayers and POTP that this does not spread to any others in the furmily. Astrid, Giulietta, Lisbeth and Misty May are healthy, and we’d like to keep it that way.

Hopping

Now that I have shared my adorableness, it is time for you to share yours. here’s a few tips for sharing your selfie and joining the hop.

  • You also will find below the code to use if you’d like the hop to appear on your blog.

COOPER MURPHY AS THE LORAX

Thoroughly Poetic & Thankful Thursday

Unfortunately, the petretary is taking a really long time to get better. Because of that, Cooper Murphy has taken over the first part of this post for Read Across America Day. He’s even written another poem.

DrSeussDaySidebarBadge2017

The Lorax

Today is a day to celebrate reading.
It’s not something I do, but I hear it is pleasing.
It is known as Read Across American Day
And celebrates author, Dr. Seuss’, birthday.
I never met him but heard he wrote good books.
I think one was maybe something for cooks.
That book was called, Green Eggs and Ham,
And features a character named, Sam-I-Am.
He even wrote about a cat wearing a hat.
Can you imagine something as silly as that?
Today I am a dressed as a guy called a Lorax.
He seems to be a well-known environmentalist.
“I am the Lorax. I speak for the trees.”
Is a famous quote by this guy and now me.
For this reading day, the Lorax I’ll be
Instead of ginger tabby, Cooper Murphy.
If you can, go read a book and hug a tree.
You’ll feel great mentally and physically!

This is my poem for Angel Sammy’s and Teddy’s Thoroughly Poetic Thursday. Our prompt letter for his week is “L.” If you’d like to read some other “L” poems you can find the poems or links to them at Two Spoiled Cats.

Thankful Thursday

Lily Olivia is our thankful kitty this week. She was overwhelmed by all the comments and kind words and wishes she received for her birthday. She’d especially like to thank all those who mentioned that she doesn’t look her age. She said that it was a terrific day, and she plans to be around for next year’s birthday. We are entering Brian’s Home Thankful Thursday blog hop. You can do the same by clicking on his badge.

NEWEST TABBY CAT CLUB MEMBER

Tabby Tuesday

The last tabby kitty who was a member of Kitties Blue got his wings in 2011. That was the year prior to petretary starting our blog. Like Cooper Murphy, MacKenzie was a ginger tabby, but he didn’t have an opportunity to pawticipate in any blog activities.

Since Cooper Murphy officially joined the household, our friend and Tabby Cat Club founder, Gracie, has been trying to get petretary to allow Cooper to join TCC. As other friends, Angel Sammy, Raz and Socks have official positions within the club, prtretary thought it would be a good experience for Cooper to join.

So, Cooper Murphy is now an official member with his very own badge.

Cooper Murphy joins Tabby Cat Club.

We do hope he has some fun. Upcoming events include a Super Bowl party, Valentine’s Day party and Comedy Club event. Cooper Murphy plans to pawticipate in all these events.

We know many of our friends are members of TCC as well. Cooper Murphy is excited about the opportunity to meet and make friends with our pals and other tabbies.

We are purrty certain Cooper will be sharing about all the fun he has at TCC with all of you.

Purrs and paw-pats, Kitties Blue
