SNOW DAY FOR SHARKIE AND BLUE

A few days ago we had an unexpected brief snow fall. Though it came down quite heavily and it was very cold outside, it didn’t stick around for very long.

When Sharkie and Blue saw the snow falling, they begged to go outside and check it out for themselves. Mom refused to leave the porch, but as the wind was blowing the snow around, they were able to feel it on their plushy fins without venturing into the yard.

Sharkie and Blue are getting pretty anxious to return home to Bailey on Nocturne in Rome. Mom says that they will be starting their trip home this week. We know our brofur will be so excited to have them back onboard.

Thanks for sharing their adventures with us. We will do one last post with them before they leave us.

p.s. We are sending our heartfelt thanks to all of you who join and support our Sunday Selfies Blog Hop. If you were too busy taking your “easy” today and didn’t get an opportunity to enter, it will stay open for a couple more days.

SHARKIE & BLUE VISIT THE STAR

Have we piqued your curiosity?

Are you wondering if Sharkie and Blue flew off to Bethlehem?

Maybe they took a ride on a spaceship?

Nope, they visited our famous Mill Mountain Star yesterday. It is the World’s largest man-made star, and it is right here in the Star City…Roanoke, Virginia. You can read about it below.

star

We visited during the day, so the star was not lit, but if you Google, Mill Mountain Star photos, you can see oodles of photos of it lit up.

Not only did they get to see the star, but also a panoramic view of the Roanoke Valley. The photo doesn’t include the entire valley. You can see our downtown in the distance on the left side of the photo. We live about one mile from downtown to the left and beyond the scope of the cropped image.

We’d like to give them one additional adventure before they return home, but that would involve snow, and we don’t have any in the forecast for the near future We might have to save that for a future visit. We know our brofur, Bailey Boat Cat, is missing his furiends.

But stay tuned, you never know what they might get up to prior to winging their way back to Nocturne.

Se y’all tomorrow for Wordless Wednesday.

SHARKIE AND BLUE’S MOST EXCELLENT CYCLING ADVENTURE

Our honorary brofur, Bailey Boat Cat, has two good buddies, plushies Sharkie and Blue. While Bailey was at Cat Camp, Sharkie and Blue visited the U.S. with Mom Lou and Dad James. When Bailey’s folks returned home to Nocturne in Rome, Sharkie and Blue flew here for the holidays. To see our first post about them, click here.

Friday and Saturday we had some unseasonably nice weather with the temperature just below 60 degrees. On Friday the humans decided to ride the tandem. This gave Mom the idea that it would be fun to take Sharkie and Blue on an adventure. So on Saturday our two humans hit the Greenway with the plushies!

While out for their ride, Mom and Dad stopped for lunch at a favorite restaurant. They even ate outside as the weather was so nice. Sharkie and Blue find the noms quite to their liking.

It was a short ride, just over 21 miles, but Mom says Sharkie and Blue seemed to have fun seeing some of our city from their open-air transport.

It has now turned yucky cold and rainy so anymore outings will have to be by car. Mom hopes they can have at least one more prior to their return to Rome and Nocturne.

MONDAY MEOWSINGS: SECRET PAWS PREZZIES

On the morning of Christmas Eve, Lily Olivia gave Mom 40 face kisses to make up for the cookie fiasco of the day before. So, in the spirit of forgiveness, our humans allowed us to open our Secret Paws prezzies that afternoon. As reported previously, our Secret Paws came from Mom Alana, Crepes, Mrs. Peabody, Louie, Niles, Sprinkle and Doodle from Cat in the Fridge. If you missed seeing the incredible sketch of Astrid that Alana made for Mom, you can see it here.

Here’s a couple photos of our loot with Fiona photobombing in the second one.

We received our favorite treat, Pounce, as well as Simply Nourish Freeze Dried, Turkey Treats. We haven’t tried these yet. We also received two fuzzy mice with feather tails, and a huge pack of Catnip Puffs as well as that cool owl with a feather tail. It hangs from a doorknob.

REMEMBERING NYLABLUE

Once upon a time there was a little kitty with a huge purrsonality. She lived with her Mum Sherrie-Ellen in their Purrfect Pad in Ontario, Canada. She had a blog and lots of friends and followers. Including us. But to Kitties Blue, Nylablue was so much more than a friend. We fell in love with this blue-eyed beauty the moment we met her. When our mom discovered that her mum had added “blue” to her original name of Nyla, we all agreed that she should become a member of our furmily. That’s when Nylablue became our honorary sisfur.

lovenylablue

We first introduced her as our honorary sisfur on June 14, 2013. Click here to read that post. And we immediately added her photo and short bio on our “The Felines” page.

Nylablue was already ill, after being bred and rebred, when we met her. If you don’t know her story and how she was saved by Sherri-Ellen and came to live at their Purrfect Pad, you can read it here. But no matter how sick she was, Nylablue soldiered on. The love and devotion she and her mum shared and the care of her long-time vet, Dr. Dave, kept her in all our lives for much longer than predicted.

Though we are brokenhearted Nylablue is no longer physically with her mum or the rest of us, we know it was her time to leave. Now this little cat with the huge purrsonality is busy visiting with her predecessor, Mingflower, and her old furiends while making new ones in Summerland. She is free of pain, healthy and happy. And she has all the tuna-tuna she can eat without having to worry about her figure.

remembering nylablue

Sherri-Ellen never knew Nylablue’s exact birth date so chose her own to share with her. The bond they shared will never be broken nor will the one we shared with her. Angel Nylablue will be in our hearts forever and ever. And we know that she is watching over all of us.

Savannah and Sage’s mom, Linda, (Savannah’s Paw Tracks) has set up a group at Gratefulness.org where you can light a candle for Nylablue and Sherri-Ellen. Click here to go to the site. You can leave a message as well as light a candle.

Thank you for joining us today. And thank you to all those who have posted their own tributes and memorials to Nylablue. She was truly a special cat here on earth and is now a special angel in Summerland.

Purrs and paw-pats from Nylablue’s brofur and sisfurs, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo and hugs from her Aunti Janet

FROM BLURRY TO BEAUTY

Though I have done the Sunday Selfies thing before, I forgot I had to sit still when I was taking my selfies. I took a few with only an ear in the photo and this super blurry one. And then success! I think my final attempt turned out quite well. What do y’all think? Should I become a purrfessional model?

She is still our sisfur and will remain in our hearts always, but now she is a special angel as well.

PRETTY IN PINK WITH MISTY MAY

 Sunday Selfie

IN THE PINK WITH MISTY MAY

I got roped into this selfies post by deciding to sit by Mom’s computer a few days ago while she was working. (It’s not something I usually do.) She plopped her phone in front of me and politely asked demanded that I take some photos of myself. I took several, but this was the best one. In fact, I actually like it, especially with the pink background to match my nose!

This is a blog hop so please join us with your own selfie. If you’d like to grab the code and display the submissions on your blog, please post our badge and/or link to The Cat on My Head.

CATWORKS Winner

catworks giveawayAnd now for the winner of the “Meow Baby” original painting by Kevin Harwood. Concatulations to:  Kjelle Bus aka Charlie Rascal. Wow this makes us pretty excited. Charlie is one of Mau’s Wolverine patrol mates at Cat Scouts. Bet Kevin didn’t expect his painting would be traveling so far away.

Please see our sidebar where you can find the web address for the CATWORKS Etsy store. Kevin will be offering a 10 percent discount on his original paintings through the end of December with the code CATZ10.

 Purrs and Prayers

As our most beautiful and loving Honorary Sisfur Nylablue prepares to transition to her forever life in Summerland later this week, we ask that you please send your purrs and prayers to her. We want her last few days to be painless and filled with love and joy. We have been so honored to have Nylablue as part of our family, and we will carry her in our hearts always. We love you Nylablue, and we will watch out for Mum Sherri-Ellen. We have asked our angel brofur, Madison, to look for you, Nylable, and take care of you. He was the kindest and most gentle of man-cats, and we are sure he will take you under his paw and give you all the love you deserve. He’s a great cuddler as well!

SWIZZLE’S OUT OF THIS WORLD SUNDAY SELFIES

[follow_me]

SwizzleSelfies

If you haven’t met her, this is our honorary sisfur, Swizzle. She is one of the kitties at PAWS in Connecticut. Kitties Blue and I have set it up so that we will be sponsoring her on a continuing basis until she finds a home.

Isn’t she a beauty? I must thank meowmeowmans (Kevin – Animal Shelter Volunteer Life) for once again helping her take her selfies. When he and his family are at the shelter, they visit and give her extra love and skritches from me.

But like all shelter kitties, Swizzle really wants and needs her own loving home. She is six years old and was returned to PAWS by her original owner who moved to a place that does not allow pets. Please click HERE to read Swizzle’s bio on the PAWS web-site.

Swizzle is participating in our Sunday Selfies Blog Hop and invites you to join us. If you’d like to use the link code to include the hop on your blog, I only ask that you display our badge and/or link back to us.

BIRTHDAY THANK YOU

[follow_me]

What a rocking’ great party we had yesterday. So many of our good furiends stopped in plus a whole passle of new ones. We were overwhelmed, and so grateful for the kind words and good wishes. This was absolutely the bestest birthday EVER! Thank you efurrybuddy.

We received three more birthday cards we’d like to share with you. The first is from our honorary brofur, Bailey (Bailey Boat Cat), and the second our honorary sisfur, Nylablue (Nylablue and Sherri-Ellen’s Purrfect Pad). We think they are beautiful. Thanks you two. We are proud and honored to have you as part of the Kitties Blue Clan.
.

Mauricio and Misty May!

The third card is from Pipo and Minko from WeBeesSiameezers. It’s another masterpiece, and we think it is terrific! Check out the chef mice. They better be careful or they just might become our breakfast.

bdaycardnew

The party was still going strong until midnight when Mom said it had been a fun-filled and exciting day, but it was time for bed. At that point we had more than seventy comments on our birthday post. All of us and Mom are excited that whoever wins the donation for their favorite shelter or rescue will get a good number of green papers. And time remains for us to raise even more. The comment-a-thon and giveaway for a Pookapet customized decal remain open until Sunday, the 21st, at noon. So let your friends and neighbors know that they should stop in and leave a comment on our birthday post.

Mauricio had an extra special birthday surprise from the Wolverine Patrol at Cat Scouts. He is the patrol’s Birthdaymaster and plans the parties for his patrol mates. This time his furiends put together the most incredible day of continual surprises. He was totally astonished by the terrific cards, gifts (even for Misty May) and noms that were part of an incredible event. Way too much occurred for us to include it in this post, so he will give an entire report on Man-Cat Monday.

Thank you once again to all our old and new furiends for helping us celebrate our tenth birthday.

PirateDay 2014 (1)Tomorrow we will be participating in Meow Like a Pirate Day.

SUNDAY SELFIES: PEEK-A-BOO SWIZZLE

swizzle selfie peek-a-boo

Peek-a-boo, I see you! Can you see me?

It’s Honorary Kitty Blue, Swizzle. My furiend, meowmeowmans, helped me take this selfie.

I am still available for adoption at PAWS. I’m six years old, spayed, current on all my vaccinations and I’ve tested negative for FIV and FeLV.

Though Kitties Blue have promised to sponsor me until I get adopted, I sure would like a home of my very own. Click here to visit me.

And don’t forget that this is a Sunday Selfies Blog Hop. All the Kitties Blue hope you will enter your selfie below.

Purrs and paw-pats, Swizzle
