Halloween

THE ADVENTURES OF PERIWINKLE & STINKY: PART CIV

As usual Stinky bounces from paw to paw awaiting the arrival of his girlfriend Periwinkle. He can’t wait to share today’s adventure with her. The moment she tumbles out of the teleportation tunnel he grabs her in his paws and gives her a huge hug and oodles of whisker kisses. He doesn’t even give Periwinkle the opportunity to catch her breath before he grabs her paw and leads her back into the tunnel. Moments later they arrive at their destination.

Visiting a Pumpkin Farm

Periwinkle’s eyes grow wide when she sees their surroundings.

“Stinky, look at all these pumpkins. I’ve always wanted to visit a pumpkin patch. Do we get to take some home?”

“Yes, we do. After we look around and snap some photos of ourselves, we can select a couple to take home.”

“Oh, goody. Do we get to carve them as well?”

“No, Mom said cats cannot use knives. But we do get to draw faces on our pumpkins,” Stinky tells Periwinkle. “Now let’s look around.”

“It sure would be fun to drive this tractor,” Stinky tells Periwinkle.

She agrees, but neither cat is interested in having to move all the pumpkins and hay bales to make it driveable.

From the tractor, the two move on to a photo op with a hay bale disguised as a jack-o-lantern.

“Oh my cat, Stinky what are you wearing?”

“It’s my Frankenstein’s monster mask. But how did you know it’s me?”

“Your red high tops, of course! But please take that mask off. It is really scary.”

Stinky complies, and the tabbies move on to pick out some pumpkins.

“Stinky, there are so many pumpkins to choose from. I don’t know which one I want.” Stinky tells Periwinkle that she can have more than one pumpkin. They just need to make certain the pumpkins are smaller than the size of their tunnel entry.

The tabbies search for quite a while and then select a few pumpkins to take home with them. Not wanting to drag each to the tunnel, Stinky and Periwinkle find a wagon to help with the transport.

Once they load all their pumpkins into the tunnel, Periwinkle and Stinky jump in and with a whoosh take off for Stinky’s house.

Decorating Jack-o-Lanterns

When the tabbies arrive at Stinky’s, they get Stinky’s dad to unload the pumpkins and take them to the catio, while Periwinkle and Stinky have a snack and visit with Stinky’s fursibs.

Then it is time to decorate. Stinky gets permanent markers from his mom and the tabbies begin drawing. When they finish, they show each other and all the other Kitties Blue.

“Periwinkle, your jack-o-lantern is so pretty. Are those flower earring she is wearing?” Stinky asks.

Periwinkle has a twinkle in her eye as she replies,”I am so happy you like it and quite impressed you know the flowers are earrings. I like your design as well. Your jack-o-lantern looks so happy.”

“Thanks, Periwinkle! My design is so much simpler than yours it gave me time to decorate another one. Would you like to see it?”

“Of course, silly,” says Periwinkle.

Periwinkle claps her paws together in delight and gives Stinky an enormous whisker kiss. She tells him, “I love it, Stinky. You are so a romantic!”

After visiting for a while longer, it’s time for Periwinkle to head home. She tells all the Kitties Blue and Stinky’s mom and dad, “good-bye.” She and Stinky spend several minutes sharing whisker kisses and paw hugs. Then Stinky helps her put her jack-o-lantern and his pumpkin for her in the tunnel. With a final wave and whoosh Periwinkle is on her way home.

Stinky retires to the catio for a nap, so he can dream about Periwinkle and another purrfect adventure.

The End

Periwinkle and Stinky are joining the Happy Tuesday blog hop at Comedy Plus.

ME-YOWL-O-WEEN ART

Caturday Art for Halloween

Not only is today Me-Yowl-O-Ween (if you are a cat), but it is also Halloween, a full moon and a blue moon (second full moon in the same month)* and the night we turn our clocks back. That’s a lot for one 24-hour period. Plus, it is the day for Caturday Art.

As you would expect, I have some holiday appropriate art for Athena’s blog hop.

Me-Yowl-O-Ween

I pretty much threw everything into my creation but my trick-or-treat bag of candy corn and dark chocolate, peanut M&Ms. Here’s a partial list of how I created this. I began with a Halloween picture I colored with the Happy Color app. Then Lisbeth, the Kitties Blue jack-o-lantern created by Marvelous’ mom, Barb Kowalik, and the ghost with boo sign jumped into the picture with the use of piZap. From there I manipulated the colors and texture in PicMonkey by using several different effects and filters.

Lisbeth will be participating in Athena Cat Goddess Wise Kitty’s blog hop, and she invites you to join her. Just click on Athena’s badge.

If you are planning on participating in any Me-Yowl-O-Ween or Halloween activities, please stay safe. Wear a mask and practice social distancing. No candy or treats are worth contracting coronavirus.

Sunday Selfies Reminder

We will be here on the first Sunday in November, as we are every Sunday, to host our selfies blog hop. All anipals are invited to join us. And you don’t even need to post on Sunday to participate. In fact you might want to get those selfies taken now just in case you fall into a treat coma sometime tonight. We truly appreciate our regular hoppers, and newbies are always welcome.

See you again tomorrow.

* The next blue moon on Halloween will not occur until 2039.

FRIDAY BLOG HOPS FEATURE SAWYER

Friendly Fill-Ins: Week #232

Today is the day we share our completions for the Friendly Fill-Ins blog hop hosted by Ellen (15 And Meowing) and Lorianne (Four-Legged Furballs). If you think it would be fun to join in, check with Ellen’s or Lorianne’s blog on Thursdays for the sentences. The intent is to give us the opportunity to get to know our fellow bloggers better. If you click on the badge at the left, you can enter the hop on Lorianne’s blog.

I used teal italics for my fill-ins. Explanatory information is in parentheses.

1. I keep praying that Sawyer will never have another seizure, but I know it is inevitable. (For the past few weeks, Sawyer had been having one seizure a week. Unfortunately his last two were only four days apart.)

2. I don’t need another kitten or cat, but I want a black kitty again.

3. I would want the names of all our cats to be etched onto my tombstone. (Dad Tom and I already have our cemetary plots and our headstone with all information, except our death dates. For a long time, I have thought I would like to include the cats names around the base.)

4. If I heard something go bump in the night, I would assume it was Sawyer having a seizure and would go running to find him.

Friday Blog Hops

As Sawyer dominated the fill-ins today, he asked to join the Feline Friday blog hop at Comedy Plus and the Friendship Friday blog hop at Create With Joy.

Friday Blog Hops

With Halloween just a day away, I took the opportunity to dress up Sawyer’s photo with a seasonal border.

If you’d like to join Sawyer on either of the hops, click on the appropriate badge below.

Please drop by tomorrow for some Halloween-themed Caturday Art.

PRE-HALLOWEEN SUNDAY SELFIE

Sunday Selfies: Week #322

What do you think? Am I getting better at selfies? I realize I didn’t look at the camera, but I look engaged and interested. That counts right?

I know we are still two weeks from Halloween, but I like the frame Mom selected for my photo. Hope you do as well.

Guess it’s now your turn to share your selfies with us and all your friends. And even if you don’t post today, you can enter the blog hop. It is open through Thursday.

Purrs, paw-pats and thanks, Misty May (with kisses to a special man cat)

MAMAS RULE

Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

If it’s Thursday, it is time for poetry. Hosted by Two Spoiled Cats, Thoroughly Poetic Thursday, offers participants the opportunity to flex their imaginations by writing about a provided inspirational photo.

Each week, Angel Sammy writes an exceptional poem and transmits it to Teddy from the Rainbow Bridge. I suggest you click on the badge at the left to pop over to Two Spoiled Cats and read it. While there, check the Comments for links to other poems.

The subjects of today’s inspirational photo are so darn adorable, my poem absolutely doesn’t do them justice.

Mamas Rule

The cutest tricker-or-treaters we’ve ever seen,
Enjoying their first ever Halloween
Though they have no idea of what’s going on,
They’ll put a smile on faces of those they come upon.
Vicki Lawrence would give these two “Mamas” a thumbs up
And maybe even a peanut butter cup.
They don’t need to be super heroes to be cool.
Everybody knows it is mamas who rule.

Thankful Thursday

I am thankful to have been able to do lots of work in the yard and to have finished two projects for our yard. Our outdoor space is beginning to look less like a construction zone and more like a sanctuary.

On the left is a birdbath and on the right is a flower. A stake will be attached to the back of the flower and then stuck in the ground. I hope to create similar objects in the future. Half the fun is searching for the glass at places like the Goodwill.

Several of the Kitties Blue are thankful that tomorrow is supposed to bring heavy rain and winds. This means fewer trick-or-treaters, which will limit the ringing of the doorbell. This suits me fine, as it is difficult to keep our social cats, like Cooper Murphy, away from the door. Shutting the kitties in another room often results in disagreements and complaints.

As always Kitties Blue and I are thankful for all our blogging friends and supporters. We wish each of you a safe and happy Halloween.

Thankful Thursday is a blog hop hosted by Brian. To participate, post on your blog for what you are thankful and then click on the badge below to go to Brian’s and enter your link.

THE ADVENTURES OF PERIWINKLE & STINKY: PART III

Halloween

Stinky sat next to the teleportation tunnel, anxiously awaiting Periwinkle’s arrival. She was a little late, and he was worried that she might have taken a wrong turn when she suddenly came whooshing out of the tunnel almost knocking him down. He grabbed her around the waist to keep her from going head long into a wall.

“Wow, that was a fast trip,” said Periwinkle. “I think I am a little dizzy.”

“Then sit down, and I’ll get you some water,” Stinky said as he let go of her.

“Oh thank you. I am just so excited. I have never been a Halloweenie before or gone trick-or-treating,” Periwinkle gushed.

It was then that Stinky noticed Periwinkle wasn’t wearing a costume, and he asked her about it.

“I didn’t want it to get messed up on the trip here. I’ll put it on while you get me that water,“ Periwinkle responded.

While Stinky trotted off to the kitchen, Periwinkle slipped into her costume.

“Wowzers,” Stinky exclaimed as he entered the room and saw Periwinkle looking all pink and frilly.

“So what do you think?” Periwinkle asked as she twirled around.

Like I said, “wowzers!”

“Since you already have your costume on, should we head out?” asked Periwinkle.

“Just let me get our supplies,” Stinky responded while struggling to pull two overflowing wagons out of the closet.

“Now those really deserve a wowzers,” Periwinkle proclaimed as she saw what was in the wagons.

“We will not be tricking anyone tonight, only treating,” said Stinky, adding, “We have cases of food, treats and some tubs of nip.”

“Stinky, where did all this come from?” asked Periwinkle.

“My mom and I bought some, but most of it was donated by Cat Scouts,” Stinky told her.

“That’s so generous. Are we taking all of it to the Black Cat house we discovered last week?”

“Yep! I revisited after you went home and got a list of everything they need for the next few months. Oh, and by the way, the Head Cat’s name is Walter.”

“Stinky, how will we ever get these wagons there? It is a long walk and these are too heavy for us to pull or push.”

“When the Cat Scouts delivered all these provisions, a couple of them also volunteered to pull the wagons there for us, on the condition of remaining anonymous,” replied Stinky.

“Those Cat Scouts are pretty amazing. Maybe we should join.”

“As much as I’d like to Periwinkle, my mom says that two Cat Scouts is all she can handle. I bet your mom would say the same.”

“You are probably right, Stinky, and we do have our adventures to keep us busy,” replied Periwinkle.

Just then the cat door swung open and two brawny Cat Scouts entered the house.

One of them asked, ”Are you whippersnappers ready to get this show on the road?”

Jumping up and down together, Periwinkle and Stinky replied in unison, “You bet.”

With that said, the two Cat Scouts and the two tabbies set out on their Halloween Adventure.

When reaching the Black Cat house, they noticed even more eyes staring out at them. It was as if the number of cats had more than doubled since their previous visit.

Periwinkle stood on Stinky’s back so she could ring the doorbell. Walter appeared almost immediately. He was surrounded by dozens of other black kitties of all ages and sizes, who immediately began a round of apaws.

As the two Scouts unloaded all the provisions, Periwinkle and Stinky began introducing themselves to all the kitties while shaking paws. They met three Blackies, Lucy, Luther, Lyle and Luigi. They also met Rascal, Reba, Ringo, Randy and Whiskers. They met so many kitties, they knew they’d never remember all their names.

Walter told Stinky and Periwinkle that the numbers of kitties staying at the house had grown huge with Halloween just two days away.

Once all the provisions had been unloaded, hugs and thanks were passed all around. The Cat Scouts told Periwinkle and Stinky to jump in the wagons for a ride home. Stinky and Periwinkle crawled into the same wagon, curled up together and fell fast asleep.

When they arrived at Stinky’s house, the Scouts carried Periwinkle and Stinky inside. The tabbies never woke up. Knowing the two youngsters would be tired, Stinky’s mom had already called Periwinkle’s mom to see if she could stay overnight. Periwinkle and Stinky were placed in Stinky’s bed where they soundly slept through the night.

In the morning, after a hardy Fancy Feast breakfast, and many whisker kisses, tears and hugs, Periwinkle popped into the teleportation tunnel and was swiftly returned to her house.

TORTIE HALLOWEEN SELFIE

Sunday Selfies: Week: #272

I was snuggled into one of my cat caves (a gift from my husband Sampy) when I took my selfie. These are a great place to stay warm as the weather gets cooler as well as to hide from Misty May.

I had Mom add a Halloween frame to my selfie, as I didn’t want to wear a real costume. I did that once and hated it. If you missed it, here is my photo as a bee from last October.

If you’d like to enter the hop with some sort of Halloween-themed selfie, we’d love to see it. But, please feel free just to be yourself.

Here are those hopping tips for any newbies.

The Adventures of Periwinkle & Stinky

As many of you do not visit us on Mondays, Mom asked me to remind you, that you can read the next installment of “The Adventures of Periwinkle and Stinky” here on Tuesday. Rumor has it that they will be returning to the house of black cats from last week to do some Trick-or-Treating.

Thanks for joining us and supporting our blog hop. If this is your first time here, welcome. We hope you return often.

Wishing all an easy Sunday.

Purrs and paw-pats, Astrid (with kisses for Sampy)

SUNDAY SELFIES: HALLOWEEN EDITION

Halloween Giulietta - 2018

BOO!

Did I scare you? Probably not. Mom says that I am too pretty too be scary. But I can be if I try hard enough. Some of you may remember this Halloween photo from 2016 when I played Countess Catcula.

Countess Catcula Giulietta - Halloween Giulietta 2016

YIKES!

Anyhoo…I am delighted to be your host this week for selfies. Being quiet and shy, I don’t take selfies very often.

I also am happy the Cat Scouts Jamboree has concluded, except for breaking camp in the morning. Cooper Murphy and Mau have lots of big announcements with regard to last night’s Closing Ceremonies. But I am going to let them tell you all about it on Tuesday.

The good news for the remainder of Kitties Blue is that now we will be able to visit all of you and find out what has been happening at your house and in your lives.

Blog Hop

Now it’s time to hop. Share a Halloween-themed selfie if you like. Here’s all those little tips for hopping Mom wants us to share.

LISBETH & FRIEND: SPOOKY SELFIE

Sunday Selfies: Week # 219

Sunday Selfies

When Mom was looking through photos, she noticed that the meatloaf is my go-to position for most of my photos. What can I say…it’s comfy. Usually I don’t have another kitty sitting so close to me, as I am not particularly sociable. But then this afghan kitty doesn’t expect anything of me.

With Halloween just a little over a week away, I’m trying to look a little spooky. Did I frighten you?

Blog Hop

That all I have to say today, so it’s your turn to show us your selfie. And here’s all those little tips for hopping  Mom wants us to share.
